England missed out massively by not selecting Michael Olise. Born and raised in London, British-Nigerian father, mother (also born in England) the daughter of Algerians. Doesn't speak any French. Annoying.

Did you even do a small google before posting this?

Of course I did. It was being discussed elsewhere and it was confirmed on the interweb thing. Is it incorrect?

Edit: mother born in France according to public profile but it's a mystery where. Assuming the French authorities would have confirmed as these mistakes never happen, apparently

Obviously a great player but also a cheat.

Most of the best players will have a mean streak.

Most, not all.

To be honest the real crime in the 1986 match with Argentina is that the ref and his assistants all missed the obvious hand ball.

I seem to remember the officials at the 1966 final were pretty controversial too

Ha. The difference being that Geoff Hurst didn't push the ball onto the bar/over the line

Early hours of Monday start of working week, think the bars will be pretty quiet. Only ones attending are folks who got the day off Monday. For most Bar staff i can imagine their weekend is now ruined.

Charlton, Moore or anyone else from from that era is non comparable.

They were footballers a long time ago

Pubs allowed to stay open until 5 on monday morning. I start work at 6 so might give the pub a miss. Wonder how many sickies are pulled for this match.

People on SM calling for a public holiday... fools.

The economic cost of that would far outweigh the cost of a sick day.

Had to wind my neck in when Celtic were invading the pitch before full time against Hearts lol

France still not been outside of Philly, Boston or New Jersey after the quarters then.

Meanwhile we bounce from Dallas to Boston to NY/NJ to Atlanta to Mexico City, then possibly Miami and back to Atlanta. With our team base in Kansas.

France will have to fly across to play in Dallas once in the Semis. Apart from that everything on the doorstep of their base, compared to everyone else. It was actually quite nice seeing them have to play in high temperatures for a while yesterday although the shade quickly closed over the pitch.

Before 1974, the competition winners won a cup called the Jules Rimet Trophy. Now, they win a trophy commonly called the World Cup.

And not even a cup!

Think ITV have smashed the bbc in every aspect. Bbc seemed to have gone for cheap from the fake background in the studio, the intro and some of the pundits.
