Muzzy_no7 Posted 30 June Posted 30 June As much as I like him and he improved our 11 for League one it does smell a bit. Hes clearly coming here because we are offering a longer and more lucrative deal than any championship clubs who fancied him.

We offer the best terms, or they really want to work with Russell Martin or the want to live on the staff. 1

Depends if you are looking and/trying to tempt players to drop down to League 1 with us, and if they had Championship offers available, then yes. If we were targeting players who weren’t quite there yet, either from L1 or L2, or overseas then they would genuinely see us as a huge opportunity. I guess the argument is, that if our ambitions are to go back up and stay up, would we be happy if our transfer targets weren’t attracting interest from Championship clubs? 1
Grebfromgrebland Posted 1 July Posted 1 July I think for up and coming players we have those in our youth team so I'd expect us to be able to compete financially with half the championship with a couple of sales. By the end of the window we should have the strongest team in League one if we spend sensibly. 1

We should know that better than most Clubs. You have to have good leadership off the Pitch also to create the right environment.

PageSZN Posted 1 July Posted 1 July We need a hard working team that is extremely fit. If you couple that with "Talent" then you have everything you need to be competitive and win L1. I really think RM will make this happen. He is good for that type of culture. However... this only works if we get enough of the lazy/shit players out of the club and replaced with young and hungry players. This window is crucial 1

Foxin_Mad Posted 1 July Posted 1 July Why the **** does is take these shit ****s so long to do anything, is Rudkin evolved from a snail? Useless ****ing idiot

supernuk Posted 1 July Posted 1 July Surely even for Rudkin and Co this should have been a fairly easy one to get over the line.
winteriscoming Posted 1 July Posted 1 July It took us over 6 weeks to appoint a manager that was readily available. Getting things done quickly will never happen with these twats in charge. Never underestimate the uselessness of Rudkin.

Fans of his previous clubs have questioned that they weren't able to carry that football out though by either being unfit or unsuited. I hope we see a big shift in that here as we have been way off it for a few years now but i'm not confident.

Is that actually true though, I don't mean fans saying it, as we've got fans that still want Daka so... I mean did they carry it out. From the games I saw, his Southampton team absolutely did, and in the championship they led on Passes Per Defensive Action, which I'd take as the strongest indicator of aggressive out of possession press, with the most shots from turnovers.

It's incredible that a club with facilities much better than most has to question the fitness of successive squads. 1
