Lesta2014 Posted Monday at 08:17 Posted Monday at 08:17 26 goals when Ipswich got promoted from league one, hopefully replicates that form and provides good experience for younger lads to bounce off.
Popular Post Devonfox1884 Posted Monday at 08:21 Popular Post Posted Monday at 08:21 Really good signing for the level. 9
jonny_wright Posted Monday at 08:26 Posted Monday at 08:26 Depressing considering where we’ve been as a club, but we are where we are…. Disappointing last season on loan at Portsmouth, so the jury is out…. But low risk on a free if the deal is only 2 years
Scotch Posted Monday at 08:27 Posted Monday at 08:27 Good signing at this level but hopefully doesn't block the progression of Alves. Or maybe Will is seen as more of a LW? Looking like Ings and Chaplin so far then ? 1
AKCJ Posted Monday at 08:32 Posted Monday at 08:32 I do think this is a good signing. Shouldn't be on a stupid wage. Offers good experience and the fans of his previous clubs love him which is always a good thing. We do need a genuine number 9 though.
coolhandfox Posted Monday at 08:39 Posted Monday at 08:39 Think this is a decent signing would be happier if BCDR was moved on. Alves needs to play and having BDCR and Chaplin doesn't help. 1
FoxinNotts Posted Monday at 08:39 Posted Monday at 08:39 Happy with this. I do think him and Ings maybe sharing the number 9 / false 9 role though. Basically these two will be our senior strikers, as I can't any other position these two play in RM system of 4-3-3. They will both be in the '9' position. I don't expect them to be on the pitch at the same time, very often.
Popular Post Ric Flair Posted Monday at 08:43 Popular Post Posted Monday at 08:43 I'll reserve the judgement on this one to see how our recruitment as a whole is. I remain unconvinced this current scouting and recruitment network have a single clue about how to rebuild this club and if we are literally going down the Micky Adams 04/05 route when we were skint and needed major squad turnover so just got every free transfer going then we're in trouble. Chaplin still has some mileage left in him, Ings as well is quite worrisome. 4 1
AKCJ Posted Monday at 08:45 Posted Monday at 08:45 What hasn't been mentioned is that we're signing the striker that Coventry signed when they were absolute shite.

And a player in Chaplin who shared the golden boot with Jonson Clarke-Harris that season, best case scenario is he scores 15 in league 1, we get promoted and we are stuck with him in the reserves for the next 2 seasons
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted Monday at 08:54 Posted Monday at 08:54 As with (nigh on) every signing we've made of this ilk in the post-Pearson era, it really does depend on terms and for that reason it's hard to be completely on board. Underlying feeling is that he's more than good at this level but I really don't want him to block the development of some of the younger lads. 1

But there's definitely a sense of "****ing hell how bad have things gotten" to be at this point.

Bert Posted Monday at 09:06 Posted Monday at 09:06 I think Chaplin will play more wide than through the middle? 1
honeybradger Posted Monday at 09:11 Posted Monday at 09:11 He's just come off a very poor season with Portsmouth. Not the player he used to be. Another player on the Ayew, Cordova Reid, Conor Coady, Ryan Bertrand pile of signing over the hill players. 1

Samilktray Posted Monday at 09:22 Posted Monday at 09:22 Another signing I have no excitement for. Hopefully he doesnt block a youth prospects route to the first team and we aren’t paying him too much 1
kingfox Posted Monday at 09:25 Posted Monday at 09:25 After what happened at the weekend, it’s left me more confused of where he fits into this team. As one of the 8/10? But then Alves will probably be pushed out the 11. As a false 9 striker? Personally I think he’s better behind a main striker. RW? Martin went with more direct players on the wings at the weekend, and in all honesty, I’d prefer it to stay that way. 1

Age is less important than performances and Chaplin's have fallen off quite significantly in recent years.

People seem to be really struggling to wrap their head around league 1 being a worse standard than the championship. 3
