I get why Neymar, Ronaldo and Co have a sketchy record at times from the spot because they over complicate it and do all of that unnecessary stutter stuff showing and trying to be clever. 

 

But by and large Messi keeps it reasonably simple and just hits it. The guys a ****ing wizard, he can make a ball consistently go wherever he wants. He should be insane from the spot.

Messi needs to stop trying to stat pad with penalties and accept he's just hes not that good at them. Awful pen.

Yeah it’s a soft penalty, not hit well at all… basically if the keeper goes the right way he hasn’t got much to do always saving it.

I feel like the best penalty takers practise them religiously. I get the impression that Messi isn't someone that feels the need to take 50 penalties after training each day.

 

Probably the only blemish in his career. Even then, his career conversion rate is 78% which is pretty much exactly on money for the xG for a penalty.

Absolutely love the use of VAR in this tournament where they reverse clear errors like that corner being given.
