All fair points and yes I'm just about old enough to remember Someone 98.

However the point is that the whole nation of Argentina feel that way about us, and I'm not sure a lot of England realises

They always sing about us, fvck me even their players do in the dressing room. People over here get so hung up on Germany but Argentina is the one. This is the rivalry we don't want to lose in.

England realising they're not the most hated team in a match and rest of the world actually wants them to win for once.

I’m more confident for this one than I was for Norway tbh

Before the Norway game I felt that if we got through that and ended up playing Argentina in the SF, the Norway game would prove tobe the harder of the two. I haven't changed my mind.

Argentina have the most popular player on the planet.

This is a poor Argentina side and England should win comfortably.

I reckon Messi will really look his age in this one.

People seeming to completely overlook the fact that this ‘poor’ Argentina side are currently ranked #2 in the world and ahead of England.

On his day Messi is still a world beater and match winner and Argentina will have the vast majority of fans in the stadium.

I fail to see what’s so ‘comfortable’ about all of this for England.

The same world rankings that have Norway beneath Germany, Mexico, Switzerland, Croatia, Italy, USA, Netherlands, Senegal and Japan?

Wales are over 20 places above Bosnia who knocked us out in qualifying...

Yeah those ones. The official FIFA world rankings. Sorry they don't fit with your agenda mate

I like the positivity, as in 'we'll win comfortably'.......but it's a WC semi-final, it rarely happens that way, plus there's bound to be a controversy at some point, it's Argentina after all.

We need to be 8 out of 10, minimum, to win this, which we've struggled to do regularly.

The rankings have always been absolute bollax tbh.

Not saying England are anything special, but I've seen far less from Argentina.

Of course whoever wins that semi will most likely lose to Spain or France in the final, but with the overall lack of quality in this tournament, we need to embrace what a brilliant opportunity this is for England to reach a World Cup final and not build Argentina and a past his best Messi up to be more than they are.

Will Lionel Messi also be officiating this?

No. This is the referee. He'll do his best to ensure Lionel Messi - the most financially exploitable player - gets to the final.

Enzo Fernandez is the dirttiest player ever, need to smash um

I think Messi has only ever turned up once when playing in England just recently, need to keep him quiet then we have a chance

We arent playing in England though. Its in America where he scores for fun. I think Argentina are beatable as well but England arent exactly world beaters themselves

Mental that this is the first time (and probably the last time) Messi has faced England.

Had to look that up!

Last time was 2002 and the only meetings between the two were all in WCs.

I guess no one ever considered a 'friendly'?
