Who cares, not even watching such a pointless game that should be scraped. What a risk of injury for no reason.

 

If you have to play it, put in all the players who didn't get much of a sniff and say have fun. No plan, just go out as if you are playing with your mates.

What is the point of this game? Seriously. 
 

I get in Olympics type sports, 3rd place and Bronze medal means something. 
 

But in football it really doesn’t. 3rd place game between the 2 losing FA Cup semi finalists anyone? A game between the 2 sides who lose the play off semi finals to see who was the 3rd closest side to getting promoted? 
 

Those are tongue in cheek examples as obviously the World Cup is different level. But the point stands, do either England or France even want to play this game? I’d suggest no they don’t. All about money though I guess.

Woke up and I’m still not watching this garbage… maybe we play football but I wouldn’t care. Until we can do that in games that matter, I have no interest. Qualifiers, nations league mean shit, until you put an actual performance in at the top level on the elite stage. Right now this team they are jokers

Seems pointless and waste of fans and players time. 

Always assumed it was for ranking purposes. Agreed though, could just give the two losing semi finalists the same points.

The only positives from this 3rd Place Play-off match seem to be:

1. Kane, Bellingham, Mbappe and 2 others still have a chance of depriving Messi of the Golden Boot award,

2. The result is factored into the world rankings,

3. The Bronze Medal winners go home happier than the losers of the WC Final, apparently,

4. Players who've not previously played much get their chance to prove the manager wrong.

It means something to smaller teams. Croatia were well happy to finish 3rd at France 98 for example.

 

It’s a tradition, and the World Cup matters only because of tradition. The World Cup is supposed to be fun even when you don’t really care about the result. That’s the point of it. That’s why people still talk about Zaire 50 years later, or enjoy Cape Verde doing well or care that Colombia went through that one time because they had a nice kit and a keeper with a silly hairdo.

Sure England fans would prefer to be in the final, but they weren’t good enough so they need to suck it up. Lighten up and have a barbecue with your mates with it on in the background.

I mean I haven’t watched a single game outside of some of England’s this tournament so haven’t been very engaged. So I have absolutely no interest in this game. Maybe the BBQ but not with the game on!

 

It’s basically a friendly game between 2 sides coming off massive disappointment.
