Seeing something is not the same as registering it.  I see posts on instagram for AI products but i don't register them, i pay zero attention to them.  Notwithstanding, i maintain that the protest will have had zero, maybe a fraction of a % of influence on their decision to sell.

Do I want them to stick around - of course not - i'm not a moron.  They've clearly no wish to be here, so what any fans think or want is, if it wasn't before, entirely moot.

I'm not conceding anything about the state of their business, I'm not their accountant; i'm simply suggesting that the decision to sell is purely economic and has nothing to do with what the fans want.  As a caveat to that, i'd add that i HOPE that if the fans DO still mean anything then perhaps a part of their motivation is that they feel a sale is ALSO in the best interests of the club.

And this is my fear, that we end up with an option worse than king power, which feels worryingly probable given the reputations and issues that most other clubs are currently experiencing.

Completely agree that KP selling up is purely economic, & nothing to do with the supporters or the (rather lukewarm) protests. They will know for a fact that they are two/three good seasons in a row from being back in the good books of the rank & file supporter.

The warning signs have been there for awhile now. KP's base business struggling during & after covid, coupled with the club making awesome financial losses (exacerbated by relagations), means that the club being put up for sale was a mere matter of time.

I also share your concerns about any prospective new buyer. The only people investing in English football right now are either Middle Eastern big oil. Who are only interested in laundering their own nefarious reputations. Or American venture capital. Who will load the club up with their own debt & take out fat shareholder dividends out of the club. Something KP never did.

I don't want to go down the route of "be careful for what you wish for" but supporters need to realise that our next owners likely won't be whiter than white. & with KP are out of the door, It won't be sunshine & lollipops.

‘Massive improvements in track record’ often leave clubs on the precipice of the worst league finish in their history, just ask this scientician

Speaking in absolutes on topics like this is dumb, and you know it. Even if it sewed a tiny seed in the owners head (like others said they saw it with their own eye), it's a factor. You can't prove otherwise.

If you really want to believe that the protests made a difference, you go for it - as someone probably said, somewhere, meaninglessly -"Whatever gets you through I guess."

Prove they didn't make a difference then.

They literally spoke to @GLC about the demise of the clubs fortunes

Name the clubs worse off. Cos you’ll find more are probably better off or par for the course. Birmingham, Sunderland, Coventry, Derby, Wrexham all immediately come to mind

Um, ok, that's a little semantic, but...

For me, It's not something i wanted (past tense) but, yes, it's become something that i feel is for the best (present tense).

I think for many years the fan base has been split with a certain faction believing in the "KP are doing this on purpose and must go" argument, and another believing in the "KP are the victims of their own ambition, let's just get through this together" argument.  There's no way that both of these arguments can be proven either to be right or wrong.  Thus why i phrased that in the past tense (wanted).

Where we're at now, yes, I agree, we all should want this to happen as soon as possible for the good of the club.   I think my point was, for those who have been dreaming of this all the time, they should be grateful that it's happening and stop short of absurdly trying to take credit for it.

Actually, I'm not so sure this was a position held by many. I'd put myself in the "KP are running this football club into the ground and we need a change of ownership" camp, which I think is the opinion held by most people that wanted to see a change of ownership. I didn't think they were deliberately running the club badly, I believe that the extent of our downfall had been down to incompetence rather than malice.

I have also stated previously that I am not under the illusion things can't go really badly under a new ownership. However, I'd become increasingly convinced that this football club does not have a positive future under the current ownership. At this point, I am happy to hope that takeover brings a brighter future, and I accept that things will take time.

When clubs get sold, do the whole board of directors tend to change as well? I honestly can't remember. Imagine if we get sold but Rudkin stays 😂

Mentioned this before, in business it depends on the deal. If they buyer settles on a valuation on wants to buy outright, then they will want a management change quite quickly. They might think Ruskin is brilliant and want to still employ him mind you!

If there is some level of insistence that a future valuation must be part of the deal, then the current management team would have to be involved in some capacity, as it's in their interest to meet the terms of that future valuation. What that involvement is would be part of the deal.

We just have to hope that they do what Mandaric did and try to sell to someone who isn't just looking to sportswash, money launder or asset strip.

That sounds like wishful thinking. We'd need Leicester fans to buy the club which isn't out of the question. King power bought on the back of our league cup win maybe there's another person enthused by our recentish success.

Let's hope so. We'd be incredibly fortunate though.

You’d be shocked it Top didn’t ask for rudders to keep his role as a condition of the sale ?
i wouldnt

even if its basically ceremonial / letting them know where the spare directors tea bags are kept

Nope, more often than not stay on for a period for continuity. Buying a football club is different to a normal ''business'' and if he doesn't stay, or others, they will be getting a bumper pay off - either way its tragic.

I'm sure they'd much prefer not to sell - They're doing it because they have to.

Protests might have hurt them a little, but I very much doubt they had any influence at all on this decision.

This is broadly what I think. As I said, I participated in protests, but that's because it was the only very small bit of leverage that I had. It was either that or do nothing. I'm of the train of thought that anything, no matter how small, is better than nothing. When you look at it in the cold light of day, it's far more likely that they are selling because maintaining ownership of the club is financially unviable. They could have gotten far more for the club a year or two ago, which leads me me to believe that they are selling because they have to rather than wanting to sell.

But the person that is the cause of the demise of the business is usually fired.  We can live in hope.  Bumper pay off should be sorted by KP not the new owner.

Although the primary reason for KP selling is probably double relegation, complete financial mismanagement from Rudders, and KPs duty free business taking a big hit from Covid, I would like to think that fan protests and plane banners (which got quite alot of airtime on Sky) did effect Top personally. Not long ago he talked about the club as if it was his child, and now a few months later he's looking to sell.

I wonder if Leuven make it a more attractive proposition or not.

on one hand - ready made multi club model, that someone smart could really utilise (travesty we havent).

on the other, plenty will want us and have no interest in Leuven (maybe even vice versa)

I think it makes us less attractive , but increases the validity and intentions of anyone interested

The impact on the media is low key the result of the protests. I've listened to snippets of three season preview podcasts and they all cite protests/ill feeling/poor stewardship etc. etc. That wasn't happening upon the first and even the second relegation

If a sale is outright, and its what KP/Top want, no way is Rudders friendship worth 140m to him and the group.

It will all depend on what the buyer thinks of Rudders.
