In the threads when they were announced/rumoured?

I know it irks people that were slow on the uptake but there have been people that have seen this coming for years.

in general i guess

tbf we've all seen this mess coming for yrs, it was happening half way thru BR's stint here.

but many on here turned a blind eye to it

Can't see that we will be spending any serious money on this guy. He will cost money as he's in contract but just £250k or so.

Playing devil's advocate, why would they sell him for that? He's 27, come through their academy and so got a strong affiliation and settled. Has been a mainstay in their side but possibly becoming less important but even so they unless he's on massive wages and they just need him gone, he seems ripe for us as poor negotiators to have paid handsomely.

At some point we have to all wake up, does it matter when as long as people do.

Previous bad deals, don't make the next bad deal a good deal.

I suspected it was something stupid when I heard that the Swansea dressing room were gutted he was going.

Operation gamble to get us out of the shit continues then I guess.

If we're gambling, that makes this deal even worse because that gambling also means trying to get back to the PL and somebody like Cullen, will surely have no part in that (dubious that he can propel us towards promotion).

Didn't like the deal originally especially when you compare it to the Chaplin signing, but like it even less now

If he's been told playing time is likely to be limited and/or they want to free up a squad place. For someone who has been a loyal servant at the club since age 9 it's in no one's interest to price him out of a move. They've had fair value from him so reasonable to let him go for a 'nominal' fee.

im in the middle with it tbf,

i see where youre coming from in regards the fee etc, like id rather us go for the young up and coming players etc but sadly the market isnt in our favour in that regard and we lag behind in certain aspects, like the club has a massive fear of buying from Asia even tho there is alot of talented players there who can be brought for a reasonable price,

but i understand why they are looking at Cullen, he can play a number of positions, wont be on a stupid wage, wont be a mardy arsehole(like certain others we've brough), i fully know we aint going to get anything remotely like the 2mil we'll pay for him(if its over 3mil for cullen i wouldnt be overly pleased tbf), its another experienced head to add to the group as well, who wont be a slug like ayew

Sad thing is right we could get Ballard for 5mil right and he could flop and we'd sell him for 2mil or something,

Im not going mad about it because id rather give McCarron the time to see what hes doing etc,

also i will be annoyed if we are signing these players and they are taking spots from some of the younger lads who have performed well in pre-season...likes of Alves, Braybrooke, Aluko, Otchere, because they deserve to be in and around the starting 11

Over a 1m isn't a nominal fee when you are in financial crisis.

I'm sorry but this attitude irritates me.

How are people STILL apathetic about the money? It used to be "well it's not your money is it" and then it was "yeah but all money in football is ridiculous" now it's "well we've spent worse how bad can it be."

Mate, I'm saying this as calmly as I can, we're down here because it can be very bad. Being financially irresponsible is why we're here. Not only is the money we'll spend on Cullen significant to us right now but he's also yet ANOTHER player we will never, ever, ever make profit on.

We just can't keep doing this.

💯 this.

tbf we shouldnt have signed any players then really if we are in a financial crisis

It's a balancing act.

We can't afford to say in L1 either.

The problem is that we keep going for these utility players usually aged about  30 on biggish wages that can play up front but are never going to get 20 goals a season and cannot be regarded as more than a short term fix. Someone younger like Ballard will at least be profitable in the medium term if he maintains his form but that sort of thinking has been lacking over the last couple of years even when we were in the Prem with the exception of Bilal.

Not confirmed, but from the Swansea side.

Swansea have said that it’s over 1 mill? Or a Swansea fan pretending to be ITK has said that it’s over 1 mill?

We need an out and out striker, if we don’t get one before the window closes we won’t get promoted and the club will be in even more bother than we are in now.

I still cannot believe we haven’t got a proper striker in.

Just reading through the thread on the Swansea forum and there's quite a lot of dislike for us, and not just anything relating to Martin. This post made me laugh...

They come across as a bit of a soulless unnecessarily posh club. Like Reading singing along to that Glee song at Wembley. The difference between them and Bradford at Wembley was palpable.

Posh

Apart from Michu they don’t even have an iconic player. They are literately anything club.

Don’t worry we’ve got a Raspberry Ripple signing up as well as Cullen 😂

Im not gonna have a go at the geezers name without opening another tab but its the one from Luton who’s been injured for half a decade
