I'm sure he's a brilliant signing for this level so I'm not trying to throw any shade on Cullen.

 

But, you'd think going from throwing silly money at Youri Tielemans and Jamie Vardy in the Premier League to throwing silly money at Liam Cullen in League One would be enough of a wake-up call to Jon Rudkin that maybe this Director of Football lark isn't for him

As I have said not the exciting name people were perhaps hoping for however I am going to reserve judgement until I have seen him play in a few games and am able to see the shape of the side and where Russell best see’s him in his tactical set up. 
 

Also I am going to wait until the window closes as well, as we are not party to what outgoings are close or in the pipeline. It could be that someone like Reid and Mavididi are both very close to deals being agreed and Cullen is coming as the first of 2 or 3 incoming attacking options.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Cullen is one of 2-3 striking options. The Adebayo link has gone quiet one minute he is supposedly at Seagrave the next he is in the Bristol City side in a friendly. Hopefully a statement signing is on the way along with this

Depends on if people can wrap their head around the new reality of the situation we're operating in. 

 

£2m is our entire TV deal money for this season iirc.

 

So £2m for Cullen now is like spending £117m on him the last time we were in the prem, which was our broadcast income for 24/25.

If this is the case. It makes no sense at all. No matter how much Martin wants him at the club.

 

£500k with addons that would mean he was a success should be max. E.g he scores 20 goals, We get promoted etc...

 

But not £2million christ. That said not sure we should be spending money on a player that doesn't seem to solve any problems.

We will never know anyway as will be undisclosed- the ITK brigade that don’t like the transfer will tell you it’s a few mill and will quote their sources 🥱 and how much of a disgrace it is 

 

reality is it’s far more likely to be 6 figures spread over 2 years with a bunch of add ons like us getting back to the prem which will never happen and if it miraculously does and he plays his part then they are welcome to 2 mill

How are people STILL apathetic about the money? It used to be "well it's not your money is it" and then it was "yeah but all money in football is ridiculous" now it's "well we've spent worse how bad can it be." 

 

Mate, I'm saying this as calmly as I can, we're down here because it can be very bad. Being financially irresponsible is why we're here. Not only is the money we'll spend on Cullen significant to us right now but he's also yet ANOTHER player we will never, ever, ever make profit on.

Exactly. Which is why it's was annoying right back when it was "well it isn't your money is it?" Because, yes, even back then, it WAS our money. It's our club. 

 

Not only is it literally the money we pump in in match day revenue but when Top finally has to crash out and cash in, he's going to walk out with hundreds of millions in his pocket and none of the associated debt. The debt, the rules breaches, the obligations, they don't follow the owner they just stay here with the club.

where was this "irritation" when we spunked 5mil on Ayew....20+mil on Skipp etc?

im looking at the bigger picture here but maybe they want someone in whos actually more tried and tested in some regard in an effort to go straight back up

and as for saying hes ANOTHER player we wont make a profit on, we've had loads the last number of yrs,

 

and being financially irresponsible.....if thats the case then right, we shouldnt have signed Chaplin, McFarlane or McCarthy because they would have signing on fees.....loan fees etc

Can't see that we will be spending any serious money on this guy. He will cost money as he's in contract but just £250k or so.
