Even if not playing as a winger, but as a central striker, I think he could work, playing in a (similar style) 'two up front' with Chaplin. I agree, his signing does threaten a (potentially wonderful) midfield of Braybrooke, Alves & Page.

Spot on OtF. I don't think many on here have picked up the fact that he's a LEFT footed attacking player - and we don't have any others in the squad - so a crucial signing. Finally, a replacement for KDH.

Also, so little chat on here about the likelihood of Mavididi going this Summer? I would have thought it, a distinct possibility. If so, we do need a replacement for that left side.

And a left footed Cullen doesn't necessarily mean the loss of Alves from the team.

If you're an established player then you're no longer a "talent" you're just part of the first team.

 

Alves and Braybrooke aren't clearly established with us for various reasons but they're a level above the rest of the squad. So it's just common sense that they play for us rather than giving them the opportunity to impress.

 

The point I'm making is we're not giving any young players a chance to prove themselves and make that step up.

 

Before the obvious comments of "it's a long season, let's see where we are by Christmas" the same was said last season.

Well where have Will Alves and Sammy Braybrooke come from then?

You want academy players in the squad, and you named pretty much every single one that you expect to feature more regularly than the others. I expect Joseph to be in and out of the squad, but put the blame on having 7 subs instead of 9. 
 

As for Evans, Carr, Otchere, Hutchinson, Neale and Gray, whether you like it or not, their positions remain up for debate imo.

 

Some of them might stick around, some may end up taking the path Logan Briggs has, and get loaned out for the season.

He's not a winger he has no pace.

Chaplain is left footed also, as are Evans and Hutchinson :ph34r:

I just want players who want to be here and willing to give it all on the pitch, been screaming for that since Enzo was here. I dont think we need technically gifted or amazing footballers right now, we need players who want to give it all and actually care.

Do we reckon we're moving to 5 at the back? As Chaplin and Cullen are very similar profiles, maybe they're both playing behind the striker, we haven't made any moves for wide players this summer, despite selling 2 and we have a lot of CBs on the books.

£2m is effectively all of our budget for a player that doesn't improve our first 11 and stunts the growth of arguably the only player we own with any sort of real value.

 

All whilst we don't have a striker.

 

We just do not operate to a professional standard.

and writting off a player who has been decent for Swansea for the most part is....

do we know thats all our budget?

because if you want to really get down to the dots, if thats the case we cant get any loans in then.....because most if not all loans require a loan fee

Yeah, but we paid £20+m for Daka and how many did he score in the Championship and £7m for Ayew - not sure you'd call him prolific.

I appreciate what you are saying, but some players work well with certain managers and perhaps Cullen is just a piece in the jigsaw that fits RM style of play

Based on what - we've not seen him play as yet. I don't suppose many thought Danny Simpson would improve our starting XI when signed, but was one of the most consistent Right Backs in 2016
