Here’s what I hope to see picked for today

Stolarcryk

JJ

Aluko

Okoli

McFarlane

Brsybrooke

Page

Cullen

Burns

Bristic

Watson

subs

McCarthy

Thomas

Souttar (in case of emergency)

Skipp

Alves

Howell

Reid

Skipp and Souttar included to give us some emergency cover on the bench but still expect them both to go before the end of the transfer window. The others left out are ones I also expect to leave. We desperately need a defender in and then I think it will be a one out one in policy.

i have also excluded the lads who played last night who could have provided cover on the bench instead of the likes of Skipp, Reid and Souttar such as Gray, Carr, Neale & Hutchinson

Page won’t start

Defense is a worry, but IMO Faes is a much better footballer than either of Souttar or Okoli and Aluko isn't a CB.

I don't want to watch Okoli tryong to pass the ball 200+ per game.

Chaplin not fit.

Unfortunately he will start Thomas , Okoli , skipp , and mavididi - none of them should be anywhere near the 11 but they will be

id have mcpharlane, page , Watson and Bristic instead

I think the swamp is being drained but there are a few turds that won't quite flush. Faes is a strange one as I thought he would be the first to go.

He most certainly is. One can only assume that most clubs that can afford him & his wages clearly don't rate him. I fear we're stuck with him, unless he looks amazingly good for a few games !

Winks and Faes were the priority outgoings for me so 50% success rate which is bloody marvellous for this club nowadays lol

Surely Faes' performances over the last few years falls under gross misconduct

Don’t think it will be easy and we all know he will start Mav and not the new striker.

I’ve got a feeling it will be a largely familiar and uninspiring lineup.

I barely know any of them so I don't think I'll have the familiar feeling of dread when the lineup is announced. That'll come after 10 minutes of watching us play

Best we can hope for today is a draw.

I can see them getting a couple of goals early on, they will press us into making mistakes and we will gift them a couple of goals and will have to fight back. Just the little bit of quality we have might see us back in. But I’m not confident at all, I still think they will beat us 3-1.

Why?

It is also entirely possible that if County press high, we bypass the press and create openings and opportunities to score.

Northampton had an interesting pressing structure when we were playing out the back, which i think gives the blueprint on how teams will play us. At a goal kick their defense and midfield would remain almost deep block whilst the attackers pressed our defense aggressively. If our CB's have a brain fart today (eerrr - Souttar, Okoli or Faes ) like Souttar did in the first few minutes then, we are going to get caught out. An early goal will send jitters through our defence and keeper, and the younger players will likely overcompensate and lack composure.

I would be 'happy' if the first 10 minutes is a complete bore fest where nothing really happens at all.

Best we can hope for is a draw is already the quote of the season, regardless of if we win, draw or lose, I doubt anyone involved in the club is thinking lets get away with a point lol

I hope if Mavididi plays, he sorts his crappy attitude out. Can't take another season of seeing his face looking like a bulldog chewing a wasp...

This isn't "my team" - just a prediction of what I think RM will put out...

McCarthy

Joseph - Souttar - Okoli - Thomas

Skipp

Baybrook - Alves - Cullen - Watson

Bristric

I was there and watched him play OK in a cameo at CB.

Doesnt change my opinion that he is way too lightweight to be considered a genuine medium term option at CB in the football league.

His height is also a tad lacking.

His skills are much more suited to being a wingback, either side.

Not saying he isn't more suited to being a wing back, but if we needed cover at centre half he's more then adequate based on his performance in that role against Charlton with us having a man off.

Couldn’t agree more and then add Skipp into the mix and it was little wonder it was laboured getting out of own half, which is why I would pick Braybrooke as the 6 so he can use his passing range to beat that initial press quickly and get the ball into more dangerous areas at a far higher tempo.

If we want to dominate and control the game we have to have someone like Sammy in deeper areas being able to dictate the game. If we don’t we will struggle to get our attacking talent into any real opportunities where they can hurt teams.

We are miles better than these - comfy win. Hopefully the manager nor the players have such a negative Nelly mindset like some of the fan base!
