With the Dwight McNeil swap deal in the news I remembered a few years ago when he was seemingly on his way to Leicester for £30m. Probably a good job that one didn’t go through, and compound some of the business done in recent seasons.

Jack Harrison in a deadline day special on £100k a week is another that was a lucky escape. In the spirit of being positive, are there any others from Leicester history that come to mind as a bonus that they never actually signed?

Ademola Lookman. He probably feels incredibly fortunate.

Never thought to look at it from the players perspective, probably a fair few of these as well 😂

Harry Kane, rumoured to be an option for a permanent signing following his loan. Would have just taken Vardy's place and never passed to him!

Lots of these suggestions would have been good for us.

The biggest thank **** we didn't sign him has to be Harrison. We were offering him a stupid deal because we were desperate and locking ourselves into a 5 year deal on 100k a week is £26m in wages alone. It might have been that deal that tipped us over the edge into oblivion and would have made moves for the likes of Skipp reasonable.

He would still have 2 years left of that deal... Absolute madness

We spent that on Slimani instead...

Deeney I think would have been a lot better, but yeah for that money he would still have been poor.

I dont think it would have ever worked out for any striker in that period as Vardy was the golden boy, was rarely injured, and for the most part, we've only played one striker. Incredible that even now, we don't look like finding a Vardy replacement. We wont ever have anyone as good as Vardy but something in between him and Ayew/Daka would be nice

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink

Robbie Fowler as well in the same window.

Manager wise - weren't we quite strongly linked with Mike Walker before O'Neill got the job?

Robin Gosens has to be up there. I heard he would have joined us in the summer of 20/21 if we qualified for the Champions League. Everything was agreed apparently. Massive money. Probably a club record fee.

Since then he turned into a massive sick-note & a financial milestone around the neck of every club he's been at since.
