Come back in 10 games time and you'll see why we are favourites.

It's hard to see because of all the dross we have witnessed, but we do have a very good squad for an incredibly poor league.

I think we are rightly favourites.

Martin was not an "abject failure" at Southampton. To suggest that he was is, frankly, absurd. He got them promoted at the first time of asking and went on a run of 25 games.

Yep his problem at Southampton was sticking with his fundamentals and not adjusting to the Premier League and Rangers are seemingly totally unmanageable.

Yes Martin has some serious questions to answer but he's not the idiot some will paint him to be. Fans need to be patient and give him time.

That and his team just not being good enough for the level.

Presumably because on paper we've got the best squad in the league, the highest budget in the league and a manager who but for his most recent spell at Rangers has no business managing in League One, realistically.

Listen to journos regularly covering league one and they will tell you it’s a historically strong league this year, and a number are saying that also fancy us to struggle (ie they aren’t saying that because we are in it), due to the numerous gaping holes in our squad and has-been demotivated players still stinking the place out… and I am inclined to agree

"Bunch of kids" - Last time we were in League One, we lost 4 games all season with a regular team that included Hobbs, Morrison, Gilbert, Mattock, King and Gradel.

We will win the league and nobody can tell me why we won't.

Ironically, over confidence with unfounded arrogance!

Not that I am predicating we specifically won’t win the league or get promoted, just that if we don’t, I think it will be down to a mentality of us just needed to turn up and teams will roll over for us which won’t happen.

I haven’t watched enough League One to really consider how strong we are compared with other squads. It’s amazing how many on here did watch it regularly last season.

However I was bemused last year why people thought we’d go straight back up given the state of the defence. Is the defence any better? Certainly not at centre back. How low do some have to go before phoning it in is still enough to win regularly? There’s currently a lot on two loanee full backs to make the defence more solid.

We've favourites on paper but whether we do is dependent on Russell. Even Maresca found the backend of the Champ difficult as teams found ways around his gameplan. Russell will need to be adaptable within his possession heavy system, or we'll get found out.

Which two loanees? We've only brought two in and ones a left winger.

The right backs are both ours.

Purely based on name alone.

Correct answer - sort of.

But that is what I was getting at. Are people totally unaware of the death spiral we've been in. Have they looked at our squad and compared it to others.

I'll be honest I haven't. It could be that League One really is that shit. Because I am expecting us to be pretty shit. Though I will be delighted to be proved wrong.

The manager who was an "abject failure" at his last two clubs got promoted last time he managed for a full season in the football league.

He left Southampton with one league win in sixteen matches and bottom of the league. It I recall at the time every pundit in the country was saying he needed to change his tactics.

He was at Rangers for 123 days, the shortest-serving manager in Rangers' history.

He was roundly mocked on this forum when it was rumoured we might bring him in.

Two posters say "League one’s standard is crap is now" and "an incredibly poor league"

While another says "Listen to journos regularly covering league one and they will tell you it’s a historically strong league this year"

So who knows on that one.

Yes. In the Premier League.

We have a bunch of kids and a few new signings - that frankly if they are coming to us are no good.

Our manager is a bit of a fruit cake - who was an abject failure at his last two clubs.

How are we favourites to win the League?

I suspect punters haven't really been following what's going on close up.

It does mean the alternatives are probably good value - for those that like a bet!

Actually it’ll end up only being Alves, Braybrooke, Aluko & Joseph from the academy that’ll feature.

The rest will be the same older players

Well, we wouldn't have been relegated last season without a six point deduction... that's probably the bookies thinking.

That and the fact that we're obviously absolutely ruddy massive.

I mean if we take off the fact that we all know that we're not very good and pretend to be a neutral... who on earth is better than us, on paper, in this hideous league? Definitely not the two teams we came down with.

I actually believe it will be us or Luton for the title.  We have actually recruited well.  Will judge again after ten games and players have got use to the system

and style of play Russell wants.

Bookies showcase their knowledge and interest when it comes to the lower leagues. Other words no clue... Even though I think Leicester will be a top six presents this year no way we are favourites for the title.

Highest upside club in the division is the simple answer.

I agree with the gist - I think waiting 9 months for a 5/2 payout on something as dodgy as this Leicester side is a massive error in risk vs reward.

I can see why we are favourites but it'd be a pretty bad bet to take at the minute.

There will be a lot of people betting on us to win the league. Probably the most heavily backed league one winner for a fairly long time.

A lot of people will simply bet on our name as opposed to the facts.
