There’s still differences. The way they’re moving it in attack definitely has got quicker and more varied.

The suicidal passing with Mccarthy was a parody at times. It needed Benny Hill background music. Don’t think we benefitted from it once.

I think that’s more a product of the change of formation and personnel rather than a big switch in tactics. There were still times prior to the formation change where we played fast and more direct and we did score some brilliantly worked goals, just not often enough.

The passing between the keeper and defence though was appalling.

I don't doubt there will be a few hiccups along the way, but I've been encouraged by our last two performances, albeit against supposedly 2 of the weaker teams in the league. Nonetheless, I think Martin has stumbled on a formula that could work. Unfortunately, we now have too many wingers at the club that aren't going to be utilised and with that in mind perhaps Watson's loan needs terminating in January (if that is possible).

Martin says he was annoyed, because, "we took too many touches"! Perhaps he has changed!

Hang on a minute. Since he got here he's wanted 50 passes to get out of our own box.

In a week he's going the other way. Yes we've not played two great teams (praps a blessing we haven't) it's going to take a while for the change. Not everyone is going to be comfortable doing it straight off.

He ain't changed just getting excused ready if it don't work in the next game.

I really don't trust him. I wouldn't want him in the trenches with me.

Yes and everyone's getting beat. Do this till Xmas we could easily be PTS clear.

Sadly I don't think we will but it's not impossible either.

92 points...   2 points in every 3.

He’s made two changes that have had a big impact; moving to a back three and going long on goal kicks. These may sound obvious but feel like big changes for him to make. It’s pretty clear we have a stacked squad for this level and he’s only a loss from losing any mild positivity but it’s a sign he’s learned.

The issue is that any manager that the fans picked would have done this.

It’s Top and co that are insistent on this tippy tappy football without the coach/players to execute it.

I’m still on Martin’s back as we’re still not in the playoff positions, until that changes, he has wildly underperformed.

1.Hope so.

2. Yes for the sake of the club and not our own agenda or ego to prove we didnt want him in the first place.

The situation  of the club is more important

Another client piece I should think, Nick was mates with Russel from his Norwich days.

Insane that we are talking about "turning corners" when we are still below the lowest point we ever reached when we were last in this league. 5 wins in the third tier doesn't erase nearing half a decade of incompetence, it just doesn't.

I did hear when first arrived he was wanting to restore standards.

Id heard about the phones, also clearing up after themselves, no one is waited on. And he’s big on manners too, lack of manners involves punishment too.

To be fair, standards have been so pitifully low here for years, I’m all for a bit of hard love.

That's still decent ground to make up and we need to show consistency to do so. Stockport and Huddersfield are at 2 ppg at the moment. Assuming they continue at that rate, we need to be at just under 2.2 ppg to catch up. If you picture as 10 game spells, we need 22 points (7W, 1D, 2L). I'd argue that's near flawless. Don't forget that Oxford United are 3 points better off than us and also have a game in hand on us.

Total shit show when he joined, massive changes needed, which he has implemented, seems to have changed his tactics to suit the players available , gave the young players a chance who seem to be responding .Hopefully is changing the culture because it’s been horrific. Think we are in the last chance saloon and it’s got to work.

Trouble is he comes across as a bit of cxxt and might revert to type

Yet numerous times dropped them for the usual suspects like Reid, Cullen etc.

Anyone would start the youngsters as in the main, they’ve been our most consistent players.

One of our main problems has been breaking down a defence that park the bus, forcing limited space and slow movement of the ball. Admittedly I didn’t see the Doncaster game, but Bromley kept trying to press and left a lot of room to play through.

The faster ball movement has been much more effective and enjoyable to watch, but is that Martin changing the way he wants to play, or is that just playing against a porous defence?

No and no.

When he feels comfortable and safe he’ll return to his philosophy. We did this rodeo under Rodgers countless times.

Dropped or rotated?

No one can be expected to play 50+ games, especially early on in careers when you have a squad of 25 players.
