For me, Cullen, BDR and Chaplin are too similar. Really we shouldn’t have signed Cullen and Chaplin as well as having BDR on the books. It is a waste of resources.

 

In terms of differences. I’d have Bristvic on the bench. At least he’s a natural striker and he won’t come good with no minutes. Another bad signing if we aren’t even going to try and get something out of him.

 

I think Howell also offers more than Burns so would have him there as at least he he might change the change if we needed it.

BDR will leave end of the year, so need to factor that into thinking as well, although personally i would be binning him off as soon as possible as i dont see the point factoring him in. Cullen has got goals, but then largely feels anonymous. We've not seen anything from Chaplin.

 

I would have preferred to see Howell and Bristric there, and remove Bobby and Burns.

As an aside; we talk of the starting eleven and the changes/strength of the bench, yet I well remember when there was but one substitute and that was usually to cover an injury.

Plenty of cover for most positions and all states of the game. 

Wouldn't have Burns anywhere near the 18 myself. He's garbage.

Division above granted but this wouldn't have looked out of place in the National League. Stearman aside perhaps.

I haven't rated Watson at all from what I've seen but Howell has looked decent, would be a much better option on the bench than some of that crap

BDCR has done nothing as a striker though and it is not his natural position. If he’s got the arse with or doesn’t rate Bristric, then at least put a striker from the youth squad in there. Bobby is crap.

Bristic, Howell, Aluko, Smallbone, Cullen, Finnish lad and the GK. Covers all eventualities. Gives  them all development as well.

 

Id have Thomas out of the 18 too,. making room for MacFarlane.

Oh I agree.

 

Martin doesn't. 

 

Russel Martin has been including him as part of our striker unit all season. He thinks he's a good striker.

I have no issues with someone we’ve taken a punt on not being in the squad yet… Klopp used to do this brilliantly at Liverpool and second season they’d star… but on two conditions…

 

1) they play in the endless set of U21 games we have coming up

 

2) If he’s not there yet in Jan we get another loan to support Riis and swap out Watson.
