Not been able to watch this pm. Has the pitch flattened out?

It was never that bad anyway, we gave a lot of stupid wickets away. It’s been a high scorer all season too.

It’s funny, I’ve watched the stream the last hour and Rehan has bowled a lot better and more consistently than last week yet has had little luck. Big wicket though. Puts us just on top I think.

Was turning ridiculous amounts for a spell yesterday though

Derbyshire aren't making inroads and have only secured 2 bowling points.

Middlesex are being held up by rain and need to take 19 wickets in 5 sessions to win.

If both those and ours end up being draws we have a lot of points to play with to ensure promotion.

I wouldn't rule the draw out at Old Trafford- given the pitches' tendency to flatten out there and promotion at stake, I'd image Glamorgan will play it safe and set Lancs 450+.

If we draw, Glamorgan win and Derbyshire don’t, I’d say that pretty much seals our promotion. We’d be on 193 as things stand, losing 50 points in 3 games is very unlikely. We’d need to lose every game and Derbyshire or someone else win every game. So it seems like what’s to play for is the title against Glamorgan! Exciting times!

If Glamorgan eventually overtake us, this is not a disappointment, we just need promotion.

I mean I’m all for positivity but Glamorgan will be winning that game and quite comfortably, it’s up to us find a way to do the same

I’d suggest we do given all the grumbles about a new County Champ format

From what I’ve read, the most likely is going to be a 12 team top division split into 2 groups of 6?

In effect 3 divisions of 6-6-6?

The issue being that the 'top 6' are supposed to the protected clubs, but Lancs will be in Div 3 and Yorkshire in Div 2.

Nope, so a top division of 12 but they’re split between two groups, the bottom places of each group get relegated for the top 2 in the second division. Then it’ll be a play off between the group winners to crown county champions.

At a guess, its the easiest way of the biggest clubs not being relegated.

It seems like more clubs have spoken out against the proposed reduction of Champ games than they thought. Anything that passes has to have a two thirds majority, so it’s now thought there might not be any change at all.

I swear the proposed vote was meant to be today, or certainly before the end of July at least. It may have been delayed.

Looking likely that every game in our division, bar Glamorgan who have 4 sessions to bowl Lancashire out, will be a draw. Glamorgan will make 8 points on us, unless we can take more wickets.

If Glamorgan win they will get 20  points if  we draw without anymore bonus points we will take 14 so only 6

They've steadied the ship and a bit of rain forecast tomorrow- they'll know the win is probably beyond them so hopefully won't take any needless risks. So I'm staying optimistic lol

I’m sure there’s a catch and it’s a shame it’s due to the hundred but this sounds very optimistic.

Incidentally Gould has always seemed to have a thing for us from when he was at Surrey, always bigged us up and stood up for the other smaller counties. So it’s probably a good thing he’s the current CEO at this important moment.

Ah yes, sorry you’re right. I’d given them an extra few bonus points somehow.
