Alexikokopops Posted 10 July 2008 Posted 10 July 2008 Hopefully this move can kick start his Kerrea. And there it is. Job done.
Simi Posted 10 July 2008 Posted 10 July 2008 Could potentially be very good, but on the other hand could turn the other way... Thanks for that conclusion. A player with lots and lots of potential.Quality signing. Why, because he's at Arsenal? The last time he played properly was for Southend and he was dropped then due to poor form. Seems to me it's just another one at Arsenal that hasn't made it and doesn't fit in with Wenger's policy. I'll give him a chance though.
RowlattsFox Posted 10 July 2008 Posted 10 July 2008 It looks as if we might have a few atheletes in our team next season, something I think we missed last season. His attitude might be a problem, espeically if CHambers plays ahead of him but I'm sure Pearson knows all about him.
Phube Posted 10 July 2008 Posted 10 July 2008 NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
Candidcamera Posted 10 July 2008 Posted 10 July 2008 Good. Another young player and potentially pace down the right side. Chambers can fight him for the place.
Manderic's pants Posted 10 July 2008 Posted 10 July 2008 With both Chambers and Mattock - any need? Is he just a back-up signing, or is Mattock/chambers off?
Jimmy Posted 10 July 2008 Posted 10 July 2008 Chambers RBGilbert RW IMO. why? we have Gradel and Dyer who play right wing so why stick a right back there?
Mark Posted 10 July 2008 Posted 10 July 2008 why? we have Gradel and Dyer who play right wing so why stick a right back there? We've been doing that for years, I can't blame him for thinking it's the norm
Cat Burger Posted 10 July 2008 Posted 10 July 2008 And there it is. Job done. It's not a repeat is it? I don't post very much anymore I hate repeats so much.
Foxhateram Posted 10 July 2008 Posted 10 July 2008 With both Chambers and Mattock - any need? Is he just a back-up signing, or is Mattock/chambers off? Not neccesarily but you need cover for positions. I think Pearson is looking to create a sqaud that plays and fights for their position. The problem last year was that in most positions we had one option only, and therefore that meant the player in that position couold play bloody awful and keep his place. This meant that players in such positions could trot around the pitch without much effort and still be in the team. I can see pearson creating a sqaud that rotates with form, those on form win there place those off form play in the reserves. I think its going to be a very interesting and exciting year. From what iv heard of Gilbert from a few fans hes done alright for them, but never set the league a light but has been a steady player. Sounds like another good signing.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 10 July 2008 Posted 10 July 2008 Hopefully this move can kick start his Kerrea. Top work.
Thracian Posted 10 July 2008 Posted 10 July 2008 Wondered how long before the loanees started arriving. But at least he's young and Pearson knows him so he should be able to play a bit.
dog_4 Posted 10 July 2008 Posted 10 July 2008 chambers can't pass or defend so i'm happy about this season.
teblin Posted 10 July 2008 Posted 10 July 2008 We seem to be adding some pace to the side, which is something that it lacked all through last season. Seem like this guy might be alright guess we'll have to wait and see.
act smiley Posted 10 July 2008 Posted 10 July 2008 A quick, championship standard full-back with questionable attitude? This could go either way. If Pearson can get him motivated and get the best out of him, he'll be good, but thats one heck of a big if.
Bryn Posted 10 July 2008 Posted 10 July 2008 Wondered how long before the loanees started arriving. But at least he's young and Pearson knows him so he should be able to play a bit. I really do not understand your problem with loanees.
Cobbo Posted 10 July 2008 Posted 10 July 2008 Hopefully this move can kick start his Kerrea. And the Dawks is back in the game
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 10 July 2008 Posted 10 July 2008 Is his name pronnounced Kerr-e or Ker-e-a?
act smiley Posted 10 July 2008 Posted 10 July 2008 kerr-ay-ah or Kerr-ee-a. I think its the first one, but I've heard both so I'm not sure. I really do not understand your problem with loanees. Presumably because they're a short-term fix rather than a long term solution? While I don't have a massive hatred of loans myself, I can see the point. However, in this case, Gilbert is young and doesn't have a hope of making it at Arsenal, so hopefully if he does well we'd be able to make it permanent. If he does have attitude issues though, we're not lumbered with him like we were with so many players last season. To me, there's a time and a place for using loans and this certainly seems like one of them.
iancognito Posted 10 July 2008 Posted 10 July 2008 It must be a view to apermanent move because Arsenal have got Clichy and Hoyte ahead of him in the pecking order. Besides, even if they had no-one ahead of him Wenger would still loan him out because his name's not Kerrea Le Gilberte. He's an option. And at the moment it's all about new brooms and fresh faces, so let's give him a chance.
brookfox Posted 10 July 2008 Posted 10 July 2008 One positive thing, I reckon this is definitely a Pearson signing having worked with him before at England youth.
Tilley Posted 10 July 2008 Posted 10 July 2008 Hmmm. Not too sure, He is a younger Justin Hoyte imo. Will never make it at Arsenal, ever. Who knows, just would like to see Pearson sort out the strikeforce now.
