Unfortunately, given current world events, it would seem the the latter are setting the tone and the pace on behalf of the former.

Which is everyone's problem, including those simply "right of centre".

There are aspects of faragism and trumpism that do border on fascism, or at least the rhetoric is there. Not all of it, not everybody on the right, but specific policies and the way the right has attacked the free press and judiciary in particular.

"Loony left" gets rolled out for ideas that are bang centre ideas across most of Europe.

That's the difference.

Number of councils that have requested delay to local elections revealed - is yours one of them? | Politics News | Sky News https://share.google/ySK83Aqjz1vI1lQ9H

29 councils have now officially asked for local elections to be delayed. That’s 3.9m people across 591 council seats who will lose their right to vote in May.

It's a delay while council borders get sorted. I can guarantee if they went ahead with the elections at the outset, then changed borders, the same papers, commentators and argument parrots shouting now would have been shouting about wasted funds.

I don’t think either side have any right or achieved enough to warrant any kind of moral high ground on the matter.

Both sides have idiots.

Both sides accuse the other of far left or far right stuff when in reality most of it is a lot closer to centre than either side would want to admit.

It all depends how long it takes really.

As we can see in Leics, there is no consensus on how best to proceed.  It could take a couple of years at least.

I think we can safely rule out U-turn 14 on this as there is no real opposition to the plan, just that the way it will be implemented is an issue. Particularly for those of us that will be forced into Leicester City Council against our wishes.

Haven't read this thread for a while but assume he's already in, but something about his comments today have tipped me over the edge to put him in again - Donald Trump.

It beggars belief he is in the position he is, what an absolute bin fire of a human.

There is a perfect reprinted critique of Trump on the Gen News thread posted earlier this morning. Sums him up completely.

He won't of course, but he ought apologise for his comment that no NATO troops were on the frontline in Afghanistan.

Vile person.

As terrible as today's comment was, it's come to a pretty pass that it has taken that to appear to wake a lot of people up to just how reprehensible a human being the man is.

Casual short sighted self interested disregard for other people is very much on par for him.

The nerve of him when his country are the only ones to have ever evoked article 5. Other NATO countries came to their rescue. Not the other way round.

He is a senile batty old man, he has no idea what he is seeing, wouldn't try countering it.

Anyway markets are up and gold is nearly at the big 5k so he is doing the job he was voted in to do, kudos to him for that.

No doubt Trump has deep daddy issues but he is also typically American in his arrogance, his presentation, his ignorance of and contempt towards other countries and his belief in survival-of-the-fittest in both business and geopolitics. He represents his country well.
