Fortunately it's authenticity was confirmed by another letter on the Guardian page. Thank you, Zoe Williams, for your succinct explanation of why millions of us can’t bear Top Gear (My vision for an eco-feminist Top Gear, 13 March) and your brilliant alternative to “petrolhead dross”. The BBC now has an outline for a winning programme and a principled solution to its Clarkson problem. All it needs is a new title and presenter. How about Get Moving with Zoe Williams? Ursula Dobraszczyc Stoke on Trent

I find it amusing now to read articles both on the Mail and Guardian websites and see which of them tries to wind up the other side more.
Guest MattP Posted 18 March 2015 Posted 18 March 2015 Don't get why that proves it isn't a sophisticated trolljob. I find it amusing now to read articles both on the Mail and Guardian websites and see which of them tries to wind up the other side more. Because it's Zoe Williams. Have a read of her stuff. Also, why would a left wing feminist troll a load of left wing feminists? It doesn't make sense.
leicsmac Posted 18 March 2015 Posted 18 March 2015 Because it's Zoe Williams. Have a read of her stuff. Also, why would a left wing feminist troll a load of left wing feminists? It doesn't make sense. Same reason the Mail sticks up some of the stories on its own site. Because they know the other side will notice them regardless and the balloon will go up. I mean, the article got here and FT is hardly a bastion of left-wing orthodoxy, is it? It's possible Zoe Williams is being sincere in her beliefs with that article, but it wouldn't be the first article the Grauniad has posted for the interest of clickbait.
Finnegan Posted 18 March 2015 Posted 18 March 2015 The Mail website posted an article saying that right wingers were less intelligent than the left. SIA
Guest MattP Posted 18 March 2015 Posted 18 March 2015 The Mail website posted an article saying that right wingers were less intelligent than the left. SIA When Richard Littlejohn is writing that as a personal opinion every week and the Mail readers are writing in agreeing with him we'll be on the same level as Zoe Williams.

Ursula Dobraszczyc Stoke on Trent Sigh... so Usula doesn't like top gear so it should be replaced. I don't like period dramas, but I don't ask for their removal from the schedules. I use the little pointy thing that came with the tv to choose one of the 500 other channels available. I hope they all leave the bbc, set up a rival on another channel and do even more stupid stuff.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 18 March 2015 Posted 18 March 2015 Seems you have to do even less than you used to to incur the wrath of Adrian Littlejohn these days. http://m.leicestermercury.co.uk/Anna-Cheetham-79-amused-called-dopey-bird-fascist/story-26189637-detail/story.html The term fascist is getting very loose, isn't it?

(Although I think you might mean Richard Littlejohn) In terms of used of the word 'fascist' - It always has been used very loosely I think - certainly when exclusively used towards people on the far-right by those on the left who would do more to erode people's personal freedoms than most.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 18 March 2015 Posted 18 March 2015 Fascists were alright until Adolf came along and gave them a bad name.
bovril Posted 18 March 2015 Posted 18 March 2015 "knocked over her Fairtrade decaf almond milk latte" I love how Littlejohn and his ilk always use complicated coffee orders as a representation of all that is wrong with modern Britain, as if crime would disappear, militant Islam would be defeated and unemployment would tumble.... if only we all drank builders' tea.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 18 March 2015 Posted 18 March 2015 (Although I think you might mean Richard Littlejohn) What I've done there, is somehow got in my head that bloke that used to be on That's Life. Basically, whenever I think of Richard Littlejohn I think my brain intervenes with some sort of defence mechanism and makes me think of somebody else. I tried it just now and started thinking about Gavin Esler
Guest MattP Posted 19 March 2015 Posted 19 March 2015 Stephen Fry being touted as a new host. Now that's a good solid left-wing wind up - threaten the replacement to be an old homosexual who buggers men that look younger than Year 11's.
Finnegan Posted 19 March 2015 Posted 19 March 2015 The idea of Steven Fry reviewing a new 200mph Ferrari and Alan Partridge singing the virtues of the latest beige come-back from Rover or MG makes me want to see Clarkson actually sacked.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 19 March 2015 Posted 19 March 2015 It's going to be this bloke, apparently: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Ba9L6n8zj1UA
sphericalfox Posted 19 March 2015 Posted 19 March 2015 Apparently the other two are refusing to film any of the show without Clarkson. Out with the literal 'old' and in with the new methinks.
Jimmy Posted 19 March 2015 Posted 19 March 2015 Apparently the other two are refusing to film any of the show without Clarkson. Out with the literal 'old' and in with the new methinks. they all leave and the show is dead
leicsmac Posted 20 March 2015 Posted 20 March 2015 Looks like they'll have to relent and reinstate him or kill the show. Can't see it surviving without the three of them.
wurmer Posted 20 March 2015 Posted 20 March 2015 Clarkson says he's 'sacked'... http://news.sky.com/story/1448879/clarkson-tells-live-audience-hes-been-sacked
ramboacdc Posted 20 March 2015 Posted 20 March 2015 james may's twitter says "former tv presenter" and he keeps going on about how he's unemployed.
Carl the Llama Posted 20 March 2015 Posted 20 March 2015 The only reason to watch BBC is Top Gear and MOTD. Looks like come the end of the season I'll have no need for iPlayer anymore.
Guest Posted 20 March 2015 Posted 20 March 2015 Hate the programme, hate the guy. Happy for it to be ditched or simply change the presenters.
