Izzy Posted 24 July 2016 Posted 24 July 2016 I see the Aussie team are staying in nearby hotels because the Olympic village is 'unsafe'. Blocked toilets, exposed wiring, smell of gas, filthy floors etc. The Olympic Games seems to be losing credibility daily at the moment. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/36879349
Izzy Posted 24 July 2016 Posted 24 July 2016 And now this http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/video_and_audio/headlines/36877346
purpleronnie Posted 27 July 2016 Posted 27 July 2016 I find it incredible the IOC have passed the buck again. Institutionalised doping doesn't seem to matter. it'll be difficult to get to excited by the olympics when there will be question marks about not just the Russian athletes but every competitor.
foxy boxing Posted 2 August 2016 Posted 2 August 2016 it is almost upon us? who is everyone's tip for a gold medal?

Jess Ennis and Katrina Johnson-Thompson should be a good clash in the Heptathalon. Love the Olympics, really looking forward to it. Late night Friday though, opening ceremony doesn't start until 11pm!
Livid Posted 2 August 2016 Posted 2 August 2016 I can't say I'm that bothered this time round. A lot of sports I don't mind watching but I'm not going to make the effort of sitting up into the small hours. I haven't checked the timetable but I'm assuming all the major athletics finals are scheduled for around midnight onwards BST.

They're not actually that far in behind, smallest difference is only 3 hours. I know the Tennis normally end about 3am, I think most of the big Medal matches I've looked at are late evening as oppose to middle of night. I'll have it on in the evening and if there is something I am really interested in I'll have it on the TV after the kids are in bed. If not it'll be on the iPad while I do something else.
GaelicFox Posted 2 August 2016 Posted 2 August 2016 Forgot this was even happening how many others missed this happening so soon drugs has us all turned off track and field
Moksky Posted 2 August 2016 Posted 2 August 2016 Can't be arsed watching the Olympic opening ceremony on Friday. If I wanted to watch 700 people walking around in tracksuits, I'd go and spend the day in Liverpool.
lcfcben76 Posted 2 August 2016 Posted 2 August 2016 Find the olympics gets very boring after the first week with few interesting sports tbh
Super_horns Posted 2 August 2016 Posted 2 August 2016 Going to be a bit awkward now if Lizzie Armistead wins... Can hear the complaints about her being allowed to compete after missing 3 drug tests already! All the final are in the early hours which is a same if your working early..
fuchsntf Posted 2 August 2016 Posted 2 August 2016 Russian story, and antics.Feel sorry for any clean Russian sportsperson (if they have kept themselves away from federation historonics) drugs in many sports not being picked up immediately. The classic olympian sports ruined by drugs and Putins maniacs. I dont agree with some of the sports being on the agenda. eg: football, tennis golf have their own high profile tournaments at top level. Not against different versions of a sport, like rugby sevens , or a sport like cricket given a short T20 period to get other countries a chance to be involved and develope their own countries interest.Football/tennis/golf at lower level, not the full proffesionals.I can see the profis in these sports everyday. Decathlon, Heptathlon, track n field athletes, are made for the olympics.Boxing, wrestling disciplines, help to forge careers to the profi level.but get little air time other than the olympics, and Wchampionships events. Old fuddy duddy me, I would like to see a return to the older sport ideology of the olympics.
m4DD0gg Posted 3 August 2016 Posted 3 August 2016 Boring competition and i am glad the footy is starting this weekend. Have better things to do then watch drug cheats run round in circles.
foxy boxing Posted 4 August 2016 Posted 4 August 2016 fels sorry for lizzie but onl an idiot misses three drug tests, two you can just about get away with but three.i don't know why she says the first missed test was illegitimate but there is no excuse .i love lizzie and i love cycling but it does leave a bad taste. how can britain critisise others when trhey break the rules.rules and regulations are there for a reason
isaidno Posted 4 August 2016 Posted 4 August 2016 the commentators on the Brazil vs South Africa match are really bad
Manwell Pablo Posted 4 August 2016 Posted 4 August 2016 12 minutes ago, isaidno said: the commentators on the Brazil vs South Africa match are really bad This is nothing. During the algeria Honduras match there was a debate about the merits of leaving a player on injured or taking him off to take precautions. Which would be fine, if the Player in question wasn't taken off on a stretcher after writhing in pain for about 3 minutes prior and quite clearly couldn't even stand never mind attempt to carry on playing.
Manwell Pablo Posted 4 August 2016 Posted 4 August 2016 Haha 0-0 too funny. Would of turned this shit off first chance I had but had to see then end of that.
limeydale Posted 4 August 2016 Posted 4 August 2016 GER vs MEX turned into a cracking game 2-1 Mexico 64th min

Ross-Kemp Posted 5 August 2016 Posted 5 August 2016 What an absolute shambles and farce this is becoming. British swimmers have 9 bags stolen from their rooms including competition gear, athletes have now banned the cleaners from their rooms. Chinese basketball team see a gunfight between 4 men and Brazillian military police. Moroccan boxer has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting 2 woman workers in the Olympic village.
