British swimmers have 9 bags stolen from their rooms including competition gear, athletes have now banned the cleaners from their rooms. Chinese basketball team see a gunfight between 4 men and Brazillian military police. Moroccan boxer has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting 2 woman workers in the Olympic village. More entertaining than most of the events.

Certainly puts the 2012 ticket scandal into perspective
Jon the Hat Posted 5 August 2016 Posted 5 August 2016 The fun starts when the competition ends in the Olympic Village! Hopefully the cleaners didn't nick the 40 condoms.
lcfcben76 Posted 5 August 2016 Posted 5 August 2016 Opening ceremony is absolute dross as ever, can't understand the big fuss about them

Would pay >£100 for a ticket but it's worth watching if you're doing nowt on a Friday night. This one is wank so far though.

fazzyfox Posted 6 August 2016 Posted 6 August 2016 They've said that the hosts will give a seed to every athlete for them to plant, except for the Russians who will promptly pop them into their mouths, force of habit. There's some nice totty in the Australian team, looking forward to Columbia if their world cup fans are anything to go by.
Rincewind Posted 6 August 2016 Posted 6 August 2016 I must be the only one on here that thought the opening ceremony was OK. The organiser did say that he thought there was no need to waste money on it and I think they acheived that. Maybe others did not agree with the theme and the story it told. I do not want to be involved in a long winded debate so I accept others right of a different view. Let the games and game discussion start.
stripeyfox Posted 6 August 2016 Posted 6 August 2016 I really enjoyed it, but then I do love these kind of things. The cauldron looks beautiful.
stripeyfox Posted 6 August 2016 Posted 6 August 2016 Wow, the backdrop to the rowing venue looks absolutely spectacular. Really is going to be a photogenic games.
BlueSi13 Posted 6 August 2016 Posted 6 August 2016 Remarkably that opening ceremony was even worse than the one they did for the World Cup. Yes it was a lot cheaper than London's and especially Beijing's but telling an interesting story costs absolutely nothing. Not going well so far, hope it picks up.
isaidno Posted 6 August 2016 Posted 6 August 2016 hilarious in the rowing as the Serbian team managed to capsize and fall in

EastAnglianFox Posted 6 August 2016 Posted 6 August 2016 Anybody else hear that loud bang during the commentary on the cycling road race? Rumours circulating on Twitter that the bomb squad have been called in. Edit: It was a controlled explosion on a bag of clothes that had been left close to the finish line.

The Slovenians tipped the boat over which I've not seen before, but it was exceptionally choppy on the water, especially through the middle section.
Magictv Posted 6 August 2016 Posted 6 August 2016 On the subject of rowing, there's a local Leicester lad racing tomorrow. Jonny Walton at 13:50 in the double sculls competition.
MC Prussian Posted 7 August 2016 Posted 7 August 2016 First freak injury at this year's Olympics - France's Samir Aït Saïd breaks his leg (not for the squeamish!):

MC Prussian Posted 7 August 2016 Posted 7 August 2016 And another horror injury in Rio: Dutch cyclist Annemiek van Vleuten crashes, suffering multiple cracks in her spine and a concussion. She's at the hospital, apparently doing well and can communicate again. It's a dangerous spot - two male cyclists were also injured earlier there.

AKCJ Posted 8 August 2016 Posted 8 August 2016 Adam Peaty looks like the time Stewie took steroids on Family Guy.
