Jimothy Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 What's the start matter if he's leading at the end? He's the professional sailor not you. Reserve judgement until he's finished. And I don't know if you thought he's win gold or not, all I know is you were criticising him in a discussion about our athletes under-performing in their attempts for medals. If you thought he would still pull a gold out the bag it seems odd you'd lay into him for starting badly. Also this "dead cert" stuff is bollocks. You say World champs, World number ones, Olympic Champs should be considered "dead certs". Well some events have all of these in them? The tennis had Djokovic (world number one) and Murray (Olympic Champ). Was Murray a "dead cert" at the start? How about events where someone has emerged like Adam Peaty? He wasn't Olympic Champ 4 years ago, he was still a kid, but since has broken numerous records. But by your definition Cameron Van Der Burgh of South Africa should have been a "dead cert" as he was defending Olympic champion (he came 2nd btw). I think you're a bit muddled with what you actually expect from athletes at Olympic games.

But then again he did say former medalists not gold medalists so same logic applies. Anyway think it's safe we aren't under performing, we weren't under performing at any juncture, hopefully wont under perform at the end, and Grewkes is a trolling fool who thinks penalties don't count and likes to wind up Shrewsbury Town fans. The end.
Manwell Pablo Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 Gold, rowing. Amazing we're picking up medals in the rowing and cycling. Apparently to say we would do is generalizing...... Oh wait, Gold again......I'm starting to think i may have actually based that generalization on some actual facts!
foxes_rule1978 Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 Great games so far, and we are certainly on target for our best medal haul on foreign soil. Looking very good. I would say we are meeting expectation at least so far...

GazzinderFox Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 Funny watching the experts reaction to that Ethiopian winning the 10k. They all desperately want to call her a cheat...
Webbo Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 Anyone managed to sit through more than 2 minutes of the dressage?
Webbo Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 We're in with a shout of a medal and I've had to turn over to Mastermind I'm that bored.
ScouseFox Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 dancing horses and you're bored. call yourself a man.
Super_horns Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 Bit of a contrast between trampoline and dressage! "Super Saturday" hype will kick in tomorrow with Ennis (and KJT), Farah and Greg Rutherford in acton. Probably be more exciting than seeing us lose at Southampton..

Don't fancy there chances if they're stuck in west London
foxes_rule1978 Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 Gold yet again and another World record loving this.
Charl91 Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 That cycling was brilliant! Our dominance in sitting down sports continues.
Guest Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/aug/12/hope-solo-sweden-cowards-olympics-football-rio-2016 I think there's only two footballers in the entire world that I have a perennial dislike for: Zlatan Ibrahimovich and Hope Solo.
BlueSi13 Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 Yet another disastrous attendance at the Athletics. Hope these games provide a lesson for governing bodies to stop giving such events to countries that simply do not have the capacity to stage them. Only allow countries with a HDI in the top 40 to host them for example (Brazil = 75th)

Great start, if the USA didn't have swimming (13 gold medals so far!! ) we'd be above them too!
ozleicester Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 Enjoying the Aussies V Brazil ladies football. good match Gorry, the aussie Kante, sign her up Claudio.
purpleronnie Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 OK OK this is it. Improvements I've come up with. Rowing, they should sing row row row your boat when competing. Gymnastics...should shout ooooooo boing when hitting the ramp thingy. Relay they should lose the small batons and replace them with pole vault poles....thats entertainment . And a couple of event name changes, Trampoline? What does that mean? too vague rename it boingy boing. And equestrian well thats not even a word call it clippity clop. And none of this has anything to do with friday night booze up, I stand by them and always will. peace.
EastAnglianFox Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 I know I'll be in a minority but I really struggle to warm to Bradley Wiggins, can't put my finger on it but never seems to come across very pleasant every time I hear him speak. Seemed even when they were interviewed after the race as soon as it came to him being questioned the other team mates soon cleared off.
Webbo Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 The medal table is looking good now, 3rd, 8 golds. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/rio-2016/medals/countries
