foxer Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 While Fryatt is one of out best players, everyone has a price. 3 Million is not enough, but I don't think that it is too far off. 4.5 to 5 is more like it as people have already said. I don't think we should get too worried about him possibly leaving though. Yes he has got 12 goals this season, but he is also the only striker who has been given a proper run in the team. Gallagher has been played out of position for most of the season but still managed the odd goal. Fryatt didn't really achieve anything when he was being played out of position and not getting a run in the team a couple of years ago. I would like to see Kermogant and Gallagher/Waggy given a go when possible. They fit our style of play as they are similar players to the ones they will be replacing - Howard and Fryatt. If they were given a prolonged run in the team I reckon it would pay off. I'm not saying get rid, I'm saying don't panic. And if Nige was serious that we have to sell before we buy, this is one of the few ways of doing so.
dandannieldanok Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 Gallagher could be a suitable replacement in the same mould though... Gallagher is not a patch on Fryatt.
teblin Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 I wonder if there is something in this as pearson seemed to be preparing the fans for someone leaving when he said Sell before we buy a ciuple of weeks ago. I would prefer we got someone to play along side him.
yorksfox Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 There's no one at the club who's a patch on Fryatt, certainly not Waghorn or Gallagher. He's on target for 25 goals this season and without his constant threat (he worries defenders even on an off day) we're going nowhere other than mid-table. If Martinez thinks he can keep Wigan up, then he'd have to be worth a minimum of £5m anyway.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 Although a lot of the time I can be critical of Fryatt as he is often greedy and needs 3 chances to score, I wouldnt want him sold. He is a vital member of the team and we cant argue he does score goals. Nothing less than £4 million would make me sell him.
Candidcamera Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 Fryatt is a very talented player. Leicester are not going to do anything without him. All strikers have off days but Fryatt IMO is the best player in this position outside the Premiership.
Jimmy Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 If we sold Fryatt for £3m, I wouldn't see it as being a major problem a frint 2 of Howard/Waghorn or Howard/Gallagher would do just as well then we could either bank the money until the summer when prices aren't so stupid or spend it in other more urgent areas such as a little shit of a midfielder to add to bite to us or a really creative midfielder to create more chances then we do now
Legend_in_blue Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 Fryatt is worth between £4 and 5.5 million. If Chopra was sold to Cardiff from a Premiership team for £3 million, then Fryatt is worth at least 4. No matter how much he is worth tho', I still don't think he's good enough to play at the highest level. He has everything but pace. Pace is what sets the premiership apart from anything else and he won't get as many clear cut chances to score either. He should stay here.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 I remember this type of story last year with many saying 3 million was a good price and we should sell because he wouldn't cut it in the championship. I guess those people are now asking for 4.5 million now that they've been proven wrong - it seems a magic number a lot have come up with. There are going to be a couple of desperate Premiership clubs in this transfer window I suspect, so a striker in form will always catch the eye especially an intelligent one which Fryatt is. I would not want to seem him leave the club, but then again wouldn't be suprised if he did.
Lillehamring Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 WHY DOES EVERYONE SEE KERMORGANT AS A GOD? He hasn't done anything. No goals to his name, just an assist. Because he's got a fancy name, and he's french everyone worships him! He needs more time to prove himself. If Fryatt left the person that would save us would be Waghorn. His pace and strength upfront has already impressed this season. it's not about creating deities, it's about comparing a player with potential with a player on his last legs... to be fair to maddog, it's a valid point - we would be left with gallagher as our only natural goal scorer, and he doesn't have the greatest track record, it isn't valid to even include waghorn, we are unlikely to sign him, by all accounts, and he too is still unproven... oh and DJ yes we would have X amount of millions in the bank, but pearson's excellent track record at buying players hasn't really been tested regarding the acquisition of strikers. even at the right price, selling fryatt COULD be a severe false eceonomy.
Koke Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 We now have a striker who looks to be getting 20 goals a season, and then some consider selling him? Unbelievable. If Milan has any aspirations of getting promotion this season, then he will tell Wigan to do one. You don't sell your top striker and most influential player when you are gunning for promotion. And Paul Gallagher is not a patch on Matty Fryatt.
maddog Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 Not only did Kermo win more headers in 15 minutes than Howard does in full matches, he also seems to be able to direct his headers to our players, there were 2 or 3 yesterday that were totally sublime including the one which lead to the goal. Whereas when Howard does win the headers he has absolutely no control over where he is heading it, and normally falls over. Yann is big, strong, fast, can jump like a frog, and is French, and has a weird name= A GOD! Seriously though, Yann is a much better footballer than Howard in everyway, should the disaster happen and Fryatt leave, a Yann/Waghorn partnership MAY BE just as prolific as a Fryatt/Striker partnership. And who knows Fryatt may go on another baron run of poor performances and few goals in the next few months. But i certainly don't want him to leave unless they over us an insane price £5m+ we shouldn't even be considering it at all. And why would Fryatt want to go to a small club like Wigan with no fans anyway, what was their attendence yesterday, 6k or something, pitiful.
Tony Pine Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 yeah 5,300 i think...pretty embarrassing really. i don't want to see fryatt go. especially not for 3 mill

Woodarse Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 I wonder if there is something in this as pearson seemed to be preparing the fans for someone leaving when he said Sell before we buy a ciuple of weeks ago. This.
haraven Posted 3 January 2010 Author Posted 3 January 2010 I don't want to sell Fryatt, at least not for the money that has been speculated about in the media, but that is just speculation no matter. It is going to be hard to find a goal scorer, and we need one for the promotion push.
bluebeau Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 No-one seems to have mentioned whether or not Fryatt would want to move to a football club facing a dog fight to stay in the Premiership. He has made it well known on a few occasions that he is happy at City. It's a fair bet that Wigan will be in the Championship next season, so if he did move to them, what good would it do to his career? Personally I don't think he would want to move to Wigan. IMO it would be more likely that he would move if say Wolves or Birminham came in for him. Then the subject of the transfer fee needs to be looked at. £3m is not enough for a striker that the buying club consider is good enough to cut it in the Prem. My money would be on Matty staying at City, with a move more likely in the Summer if we fail to get promoted.
MPH Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 dont want Fryatt to go. BUT if he does I trust Pearson and his team to yet again provide a god addition to the squad.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 dont want Fryatt to go.BUT if he does I trust Pearson and his team to yet again provide a god addition to the squad. Zeus? Thor? Shiva? Or some mercurial winger?

The Doctor Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 should the disaster happen and Fryatt leave, a Yann/Waghorn partnership MAY BE just as prolific as a Fryatt/Striker partnership. Maybe. But in that case wouldn't it be better to keep fryatt and pair him with one of Yann or Waghorn.
Karljohn Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 Fryatt wont leave for a rugby town shithole like Wigan with their 5k fans and their 9-1 drubbings. However I think the only striker we currently have that has the makings of Premier league quality, isnt our player. If we were to take 4m plus for Matty (and I hope we dont as I believe he could hit 25 goals this season) then we should lay money on the table for Waggy.
Maybes Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 Not Fryatt biggest fan but he is a massive asset in our team. I would only sell if we got silly money like £5m.
Brainy Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 0 pace up front and no right winger is bad enough, but no Fryatt aswell, game over. But then Kermo came on and i thought, he could save us if Fryatt left. then we'd have 1 goal upfront.
