purpleronnie Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 Top drawer from Gerrard, shame he only produces it once in a blue moon for England. Maybe he should be played in the right position then?
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 Zslot's should have had that freekick - is Borri on as well or have I missed him?
dandannieldanok Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 Maybe he should be played in the right position then? Don't tell me...tell the arsehole who's in charge.
purpleronnie Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 Don't tell me...tell the arsehole who's in charge. One arsehole at a time. kinky.
hebangsthedrums Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 Gerrard's the only one that ever shows up. I rarely remember him turning up for England when it matters. A step up from Lampard but thats not saying much.
Tommeh Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 Ahhh Stevie what a genius you are, simply world class lad. World cup was just bad luck wern't it? 2 goals against Hungary, Jesus anyone would think the bellend had just cured cancer.
Salieri Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 Gerrard, great performance, just a shame you couldn't have turned it on when it mattered. Still, got more passion and pride than the majority of the other muppets. Rooney, you're still a petulant cunt.
Ozwin Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 Rooney's camp wave as he went off was fooking hilarious though.
Cat Burger Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 Rooney, you're still a petulant cunt. And fat.
Benji Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 More importantly, how good is that Heineken advert with the walk in fridge/wardrobe!!
Webbo Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 Keep these retirements coming... Gerrard and Terry next please! Anymore bright ideas?
Frost Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 More importantly, how good is that Heineken advert with the walk in fridge/wardrobe!! Unbelievably funny. Was laughing so much after that. Class.. Anyway.. - Zamora looked good, would have been good to see him score, the guy deserved it. As did Johnson (second half), Gibbs. Wilshere should have been introduced earlier on. - Rooney's still a cvnt, another crap performance. Personally I thought we looked a lot sharper with him off the pitch, there didn't seem to be a desperation to pass the ball forward, surprisingly. - Gerrard decides to play for once, fair play, shame he doesn't when it matters. - Lampard & Barry shouldn't be selected for England again IMO (most of you will probably kick up a fuss about this). - Joe Hart to be No1, hopefully regular first team football at Man City, if not, elsewhere. Calm & confident for his age especially. Having a No1 for the first time since Robbo will actually instill confidence into the defence. Anymore bright ideas? Yeh, 2 (albeit) good goals against Hungary and his poor performances in the past are justified and he's key to the England squad is he?
Joe. Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 I find myself in a position where I can genuinely say I enjoyed watching an England match. Even at 0-0 I thought things were looking promising, despite the lack of goals. Shame that we got done over again by a poor decision on the line, but that's life. It was so refreshing to see so many young players involved, and I only hope that this wasn't just a one-off. Gibbs looks a superb prospect and an ideal replacement for Ashley Cole when he eventually goes, while Adam Johnson looks to have bags of confidence and a goal in him too. Walcott looked more confident and sharper than before, and Wilshere coming on for a cameo just shows how far he's come. Big fan of Bobby as well, I would have gone mad if that volley had gone in. A couple of dodgy touches but overally he was a big threat and I'm disappointed he didn't get that goal at the end. I hope he gets another chance, and I'm sur he will. As for Gerrard, I haven't read through the thread but I'm sure everything's been said. I've always backed him because he is one of the only true quality players we have in this squad, and he's finally shown what he can do when he's in the right position. It shouldn't take a rocket scientist to work out what has to happen now - keep it the same! The formation looks like it could get the best out of a few players, most notably Gerrard, Johnson and whoever else is on the opposite wing, and that can only help Rooney. Overally I'm genuinely really pleased with tonight, I just pray that Capello has the balls to include some of these boys again in favour of the same tripe we've had for too long.
Bert Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 Well said Joe. Gibbs looked good and there were positive performances from Gerrard, Young and Zamora. Loved Rooney's wave, was the best thing he did all night.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 Gibbs, Johnson and Zamora did really well tonight, I thought, especially Gibbs who always looked positive and eager for the ball. Dawson looked a bit shaky at times, and was at fault for the 'goal,' but I still rate him as Englands best centre back (apart from King, but obviously, he's a sicknote), and I'd have liked to have seen Wilshere on a bit earlier. More positives than negatives for me tonight. Anyway.. - Lampard & Barry shouldn't be selected for England again IMO (most of you will probably kick up a fuss about this). I bet they won't.
purpleronnie Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 So the formation people wanted = shite 442 that no-one wanted = improvement So lampard goes off and gerrard scores 2, wow who'd of thought that.
Fosse Boy Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 Ahhh Stevie what a genius you are, simply world class lad. World cup was just bad luck wern't it? 2 goals against Hungary, Jesus anyone would think the bellend had just cured cancer. Valid. All forgiven now and English football will return to the same depressing cycle it was in before South Africa. Until 2012 that is...
Corky Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 Two great goals from Gerrard, but more importantly Our Andy King getting his first international goal - Well done lad

You're wrong regarding the formation (in my opinion anyway), we played 4-4-2 from the 45th minute until the 66th minute (when Rooney came off). The goals came just after this period when having just the one up front instantly released Gerrard to be more attacking.
Joe. Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 As if anybody cares about Beckham not playing for England again. Really.
Toby or not Toby Posted 11 August 2010 Posted 11 August 2010 I agree, we looked more dangerous when Zamora was upfront on his own. Thought Adam Johnson looked good and Gibbs when he came on.
