Foxhateram Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 Beeb source According to the above story + video interview which was posted last Tuesday. The Yak wants to stay here permo. What are people's views on this? (sorry if its already posted, i did a search and couldn't find a topic, might be me being blind though) I personally am not sure, the bloke obviously has quality, but he so often seems to waste his talent by being lazy. On the flip side of that though, when he first came here he scored some great goals, maybe he is one of those confidence players. Thoughts?
FanofFilbert Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 If he can be arsed to pick up the pen and make the effort of signing his name then his work rate will have increased dramaticly

Christoph Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 Depends on his wages really. He's good enough to be a top scorer at this level and decent enough for the prem just he hasnt played that well. Still you only have to look at berbatov and the comparison of last season compared to this

However if mods feel that it is not worthy of its own thread and want to either move this or delete it. I completely understand. Cheers.

That's why I put sort of, let it run it will get everyone back in an LCFC footy mood.
Haydos Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 Wages would be an issue for me. Depending on what he's on at Everton, we surely can't offer him the same sort of deal on a permanent? Will he be willing to take a pay cut? If he's on 40k or even 30k at Everton that's still a lot to be shelling out for a player, who even though has shown his class, has often looked like he lacks commitment.
cc_star Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 Not surprised he wants to stay so badly, I can't see anyone else paying those kinds of wages for so little return

Yer well it has been a while since we had a good old debate about one of our players. Its been all about the Screens lately. I know that we have been playing 4-3-3 but the yak seems to have been up front on his own a lot recently. Wonder if it is this that has been playing on his mind? I am sure if he had more support up top then he would be so much effective, then again maybe that is the reason for the Kamara signing? When Waggie comes on, then the yak does seem to perform to a higher standard, maybe this is because waggie plays more central and offers more support to the yak then those who cut right out wide ala vassell? I am not sure, just trying to think of an explanation why such a high class player is playing so poorly in our current system.
darko2k7 Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 Like others I am torn on this issue between the early form he showed and the recent Lazy, undropable, out of form side of the Yak . I think i will have to wait to se how he performs between now and end of season before i make my mind up if i would like him to stay or not . But saying that there is also his wages to consider 30/40k plus a possible 5 million is just to much for a player that you are not sure wot return in form you will get , I would much rather that money be spent on a proven 20+ goal a season player ( i.e Danny Graham ).
Wymsey Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 If he wants to stay, he can't rely on the others really to score the goals for us if he does sign permanently considering that he has Premier League experience and proved he can score in that league.
shailen Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 Make him take a wage cut if he wants to stay...dont pay him more then 20k a week!
Bert Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 Are we gonna get anyone better? I doubt it. A full pre season, he can easily get 20+.

As the lone striker he's inevitably going to get isolated some times, and our wingers/Kingy's linking-up play hasn't been quite as good as it was when we were on that run. If rumours about Kebe are true, and Yak staying does involve him getting a wage drop, then yes, 100% should we want him at our club.

Top??? is that you???? on a serious note its his work rate for me thats a problem... if he can pull his finger out his arse and run a bit .. regular goal scorers in this league and especially the prem are very hard to come by....

Fryatt wasn't given a suitable partner all season and neither Waghorn (Sorry Howard doesn't count IMO) Hopefully the Yak and Kamara will do the biz, looks good on paper, we will see!
MrSpaM Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 I'd rather we spent this amount of money trying to get Heskey to join us if i'm honest. The Yaks obviously got quality, but it just seems like he's not playing for the shirt.
m00nie Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 i remember seeing one of the interviews with him in and he was asked about his recent form, he replied it didnt concern him as he knows he can score goals and as always scored goals so wont be long before he gets back to scoreing them again. which to be fair is probably correct.. something else he said in the interview about work rate, he said he could quite easily sit at everton on the bench and get paid the same but he likes to work for his money and dont believe in free rides.. i know he dont run all over the place chasing every ball but he holds the ball up, creates space for others etc and does score goals. as someone said earlier he will get you 20+ goals in a full season so he obviously does something.. the only thing that concerns me with the situation is sven reluctance to sub him, but maybe thats down to a squad issue also, maybe more signings in the summer may give him more options so could answer that concern for me and i would be happy to have him stay.. again as someone said are you going to get any better??
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 I'd have him in a heartbeat, if he's affordable. Don't want to see us blowing all our budget on the one player, there's a big re-building job to be done this summer.
Corky Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 He does frustrate but he also has a touch of class about him when on form. A good final few games and then we'll see about a permanent.
Matt Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 Not sure. Last few weeks I have really lost my patience with him, but the international break has let me calm down abit and i'll give him more chances for the coming weeks, before then I was all for looking into an option of sending him back, If he seriously is wanting to stay he'd best pull his finger out.
ajthefox Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 Seems to me a bit like he's saying this because he knows his time at Everton is up and he wants us to sign him so he's sorted financially as much as anything. Having said that, I do like him and I would welcome him back after the loan ends provided wages are reasonable and Everton don't want too much for him, because the ability is there.
