sdb Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 Paul Doyle and Louise Taylor have always been the Guardian football writers I've respected the most. Louise Taylor must have the worst record for predictions ever, including people outside of punditry. Worryingly she's the only one predicting us to stay up!
SpacedX Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 Many of these hacks have a cursory knowledge at best about the lower echelons of the Premiership, which is why they regurgitate the same simplistic and hackneyed opinions based more upon casual consensus than any real depth of understanding. The absolute worst and least insightful predictions that I've seen yet, were from John Aizlewood in his pre-season review in last weekend's Sunday Times. Those with a history of hypertension or anger management issues may wish to avoid. City are unfashionable and to write them off and consign the club to relegation primarily based upon the departure of Cambiasso and Pearson before a ball is even kicked in anger, is simply lazy journalism.
Manwell Pablo Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 Jesus if we finish 19th and the hacks are right a lot of you are going to look like right bell ends .
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 I can see why people are tipping us to go down. We've lost the stability that made us more than the sum of our parts last season and have lost our talisman. Still think getting rid of NP was a fatal error and I'd snap your hand off for 17th
ChrisFilter Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 Well, I'm pretty confident that we'll defy expectations (both in the media and amongst the doom merchants on here) and finish comfortably mid-table.
Finn Claw II Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 I really don't see how you can predict anything other than the 3 that have come up to go straight back down again. But that is boring so pundits don't do that. West Ham, Villa, Newcastle, Sunderland and us called all be 'suprise packages' or doggo this season. I personally think our team is better and more balanced than all of those. Sunderland are dross if they sign Fer and M'Villa maybe but how the Guardian can put them above us is unbelievable, and I consider myself more balanced than most!
Corky Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 Who do these experts believe will take over when we sack Ranieri if that's the only way to survive?
RedSoxUK Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 We rightfully finished 14th because we factually did finish higher than six other teams. There's no argument.
Nalis Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 Jesus if we finish 19th and the hacks are right a lot of you are going to look like right bell ends . I'll take my chances!
biggs Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 Can't see us any worse off this year simply because two key people left the club. It's not like they weren't replaced and then some. The overall team showed strength finishing the season and new folks are coming in. I'm suggesting the new signings will make up the loss of Cambiasso and we as a club will not likely have the long run of poor form or the run in at the end of the season. Expecting to see a more consistent form of results. We would have learned a lot from last season and am feeling more confident as the season approaches. When all went south a few weeks back, I felt gutted but am coming around as I see signs from the club, they want this to work. Also not seeing what the pundits are seeing in the newly promoted teams. They all picked Burnley half way through the season and past that to stay up and look where they finished. My new prediction 12th
Guest ttfn Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 Who do these experts believe will take over when we sack Ranieri if that's the only way to survive?Sean Dyche or Neil Lennon obviously. Good old fashioned British (Isles) managers.
ian_marshall Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 I'm surprised so many of these so called pundits have us down to finish below Norwich. They were very unconvincing last season and have hardly strengthened, yet many still believe they'll do better than ourselves despite us having signed some decent players over the last few seasons. Although we'll be one of the teams in contention for the drop I genuinely feel that the three promoted teams have a mammoth task to displace any of the teams who were in the league last season.

whoareyaaa Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 IBT prediction – 19th After the miracle of 2014-15, it is back to reality for Leicester and a return to the Championship looks the most likely outcome for Ranieri's side. makes you laugh, how he has came to that conclusion I have no idea, I get we have lost two key figures but the signing on Kante will be the replacment for Cambassio on the pitch, more energy and does a similar job maybe not as good going forward but will do more of a job in the defensive side of things. We also have Marhez who has now had 2 full seasons in England and will be ready to tare some pants again, and two quality players in Kramaric and Shinji, not to mention the rest of the team that is full of pace like Vardy, Schluup, Albrighton and we have Huth from the beggining and are likely to bring in another class CM. they are clueless.

It's the phrasing of it that's odd. "The most likely" thing is we'll get relegated? Should be absolutely lumping on with the bookies then because we're at least 5/2 pretty much everywhere and it sounds like he thinks it should be evens at best. We might well get relegated but saying that it's the "most likely" thing to happen is mental.
The Doctor Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 Christ sports journalism is the pits - my favourite quote is the guardian one thinking well go down because "how does ranieri keep getting jobs" - by relatively overachieving everywhere he goes with the exception of Greece, which is a) a basket case and b) international, not club anyway? Anyone writing us off because we were bottom for a while last season is outing themselves as not doing any research beyond looking at the scores.
reynard Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 Who do these experts believe will take over when we sack Ranieri if that's the only way to survive? Apparently big Sam will be back in the market around December/January. His own words on a Talk Sport interview. Sounds like potentially perfect timing. If we are as bad as the experts think Ranieri will be gone by then.
Babylon Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 Jesus if we finish 19th and the hacks are right a lot of you are going to look like right bell ends .It's not being predicted to go down that annoys me, it's that there is little consistency in their reasoning. They judge us by one criteria, then overlook it for others.
fleckneymike Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 If any of Sunderland, Villa or Newcastle had replaced their manager with Ranieri would anyone on here feel a prediction of 18-20 was harsh?
ScouseFox Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 squawka have fuchs down as 18/20 in their full back ratings for the season. mings @ 14 . http://sqwk.at/LeftBacks20to1
Fez of Mahrez Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 I did an audio preview for FourFourTwo a couple of weeks ago so if you like the idea of listening to ten minutes of monotone rambling about stuff you already know, this is going to be right up your street (at least I don't predict us to get relegated): https://soundcloud.com/fourfourtwo/leicester-city-201516-season-preview
The Doctor Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 If any of Sunderland, Villa or Newcastle had replaced their manager with Ranieri would anyone on here feel a prediction of 18-20 was harsh? If Villa had binned Sherwood I'd be putting on them to do better, but your questions a bit of a stupid one anyway: we were comfortably clear of relegation last season in the end, being down there was more a combination of a cruel fixture list and some bad luck than an actual lack of quality; Ranieri isn't going to take us that far backwards.
Webbo Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 If any of Sunderland, Villa or Newcastle had replaced their manager with Ranieri would anyone on here feel a prediction of 18-20 was harsh? tbf whoever was manager of those clubs there are some on here who would think they are certain for relegation. I honestly don't know where we're going to finish next season. I can't criticise anyone for saying we could be going down as it's very possible.

AKCJ Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 Not sure how anyone can argue that 14th flattered us given that we couldn't beat the likes of Hull, Burnley and West Brom at home. We were abysmal for 75% of the season.
