Banners around the stadium

Recommended Posts

ok so its king power overkill, there putting the money in...they have the right to do what they like ....but why get rid of the big banners of lineker and walshie....the lineker one always looked awsome as you walked up to the stadium.....its our histroy and identity..i used to love the legends banner around the top of the ground also.....what do we all think ?

I think it's time to create a new history, one that is associated with King Power stadium and the re-branding is the perfect opportunity to attempt this.

We in my eyes have to give the new owners credit for making the stadium now what it should have been when it was built rather than the atmosphere - less, placid drab grey block of concrete.

Lineker was a long time ago and he hardly stayed for his career.

Let's make some new memories rather than re-hashing the old ones.

Real Madrid was a nice foundation to start.

I totally agree 100%. Yes they do deserve to get their name in big lights as they are the main sponsers and yes, if other people are paying up for adverising then yes they also deserve some space too. But...the history of the club is just as important to us as say MU's is for them and other clubs big or small up and down the country and the previous 'faces' up around our ground remind us of personal times gone by (ok, some of us older buggers more than others). Such things remind us that football isn't just a transient game thats just there to make money for a day and move on (or it shouldn't be), its a part of our heritage (thats possibly why some people perhaps choose to have their loved one's ashes put in the rememberance garden). It's more than just say a visit to the pictures for an afternoons entertainment, it has to be or we wouldn't all swear allegence to our club, however poor they are, we'd all go and watch the Arsenals or Real Madrids for a quick entertainment fix.

Also. I found the new moving neon adverts on the sidelines (looking out from the East stand towards West stand) bloody annoying and distracting, I'm was just about to renew my season ticket there but am thinking twice now. Probably thats just me being an old fart though!

All that having been said, I would also have to say a big thankyou to the club for all they put on yesterday throughout the day which I thought was absolutely fantastic and must have cost them an amount of money which they didn't have to spend as we'd all perhaps have gone to watch us play Real Madrid on its own. Thus far our new owners appear to be bonefide and are doing everthing they said they were going to do, I even thought the Thai dancers were excellent and it doesn't hurt us to learn a bit about their culture too. Perhaps though they could bebefit from a little help in the form of good old Leicester fan to help them appreciate that in our culture, our football club means more to us that just a quick 90 minutes entertainment on a Saturday afternoon.

Cheers.

I think that he meant renewing in the East Stand  I don't think that he's a "shit fan".

Even if there was a private lap dance every game inc in your season ticket people will still moan. Makes me realise there are some ungreatful moaning cvnts out there who aren't happy unless everything is perfect. Makes me mad but you have to put up with these ****** - just a shame they have to post on here

I didn't find them distracting but they were only for that game :) if they was going to be there permanently then they would be all round the stadium

so your moaning about people moaning to make a point?

seems a bit like "spoilt" attitude. we got all this new stuff that we are grateful for. but theres 2 schools of thought. people will like how it was. and others will want more.

other people wont care as long as the football is entertaining.

none of them can be classed as "real fans" or "true fans" or whatever you wanna call because this "true fan" bollocks doesnt exist! why do people argue about who is the biggest fan in a club we all support?! i can barely make it to a game because i work shifts and mainly saturdays. i still call myself a fan. doesnt make the person that goes to every home game and every away game more of a fan. just means hes got more spare time/money to do so.

Even though, the owners are creating a new part in our history, I also think, we should have something with our history on. However, and from what I recall, those banners with the former players on did have the Walkers logo on so I understand why we have new banners as well as the obvious reason of creating something new now.

Who the hell +1 a full stop?.

They were fine, yes it would've been good to keep the old ones but I'm sure we'll have something in the stadium to remember them by.

We already have one? Don't we?

The only "museum" we have is the trophy cabinet in the Directors Lounge...

All I think is that the creases in the banners will drive my OCD crazy :banghead:

the leicester city bit over the old score boards drove me mad as it was off center, you would think with the amount of money spent on them that they would be able to put them up correctly :dunno:

I think the canvas banners were looking a bit dated after ten years. We all remember & appreciate the players of years gone by but it's time to look forward and be optimistic that some of the current crop can go on to be legends themselves. Maybe have banners hanging round the concourses and obviously keep the various bars like Wellers etc for the benefit of the fans but anything pitch side should be focussed on the current team.
