Ric Flair Posted 20 October 2011 Posted 20 October 2011 His first touch looks very suspect and I think that will be his downfall, but other than that he looks the complete striker for me. Pace, power, good in the air and seems to have the knack of scoring a lot of goals wherever he's been. I was slightly concerned about his first few games for us as he wasn't getting many chances on goal which could be down to the player hismelf or the team around him not playing to his strengths. I think he'll frustrate us on many occasions but bring us elation just as much, if not more. He's here to score under pressure when we need it most, that'll be the difference between success or failure for me. Also, Nugent is on fire and we can rely on him to be Mr Consistent and allow Beckford to be the maverick he is.
davieG Posted 20 October 2011 Posted 20 October 2011 Good question. I personally think it was filmed from a different camera located on the other side of the pitch then broadcast to an HD TV user who recorded it using a camcorder and a mirror. I'm eating marmalade and fingering my pancreas. Maybe the guy who put this sign up videoed it http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-15371102
singinpete Posted 20 October 2011 Posted 20 October 2011 pretty sure he aint fully fit. if he starts linking up with king and nugent im convinced he'll bag plenty. hopefully he pops up with a hat trick against west ham and we smash the ****ers off the park!!!!!!!!!!

If he's working on instinct (such as getting on the end of a cross, making a run off the last defender), he can do the business with ease. The moment he's got a bit of time on the ball or has too much time to think about what he needs to do, is when he makes mistakes. You could see this when he'd receive the ball, look up and then hit the pass astray, or his first touch when the ball's coming to him from some distance.
wellyfox Posted 20 October 2011 Posted 20 October 2011 Don't read too much into it. It's genuinely about marmalade. Nahhhhh gotta be marmite on toast
dannythefox Posted 20 October 2011 Posted 20 October 2011 Cant belive people are thinking twice over Beckford hes a great player! Look what he did for leeds he was scoring bucket loads and he score 10 prem goals for everton last season hes just needs time the problem we have now is people compare to yakubu hes been up there with some of the best and its not fair to compare anyone to him. Beckford just needs to sharpen up abit and he'll be fine theres no pleasing some people!
StanSP Posted 20 October 2011 Posted 20 October 2011 Love how people are comparing Beckford to Yakubu.... Yak scored 11 in 20 from January to May. By my reckoning, on a full season Beckford should score at least 22 (if we're following simple logic). And pre-season we were crying out for a 20 goal-a-season striker. So what's it gonna be? Quit your fucking moaning and support the player because so far he's done absolutely nothing wrong.
Corky Posted 20 October 2011 Posted 20 October 2011 Beckford will be fine. He's taken time to settle in and being knocked about every game won't help his fitness. Got a goal and could've had another if Nugent had managed to thread it through the defence early in the second half.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 20 October 2011 Posted 20 October 2011 We will see the best of Beckford, when he starts eating THREE Shredded Wheat for breakfast.
connor_19 Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 Just got to give Beckford time I'm sure he'll start scoring, his partnership with Nugent looked promising in the Watford game. Still think we need a winger to get down the sides of teams and put balls into the box for him, we're relying on Peltier and Konchesky for width and the ball into the box is not always great.

I thought the same until he completely missed the one that fizzed across the goal early in the first half against Watford. That was a chance an instinctive striker would have buried. I think he needs to get a few under his belt and he'll be ok

Nugent will keep picking up goals and beckford is our match winner...
Guy Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 Although still too premature to say, Beckford proved himself at Leeds (albeit in League One - although his goal KO'd Man. U. from the FA Cup that same season!) and he did well for Everton when coming off the bench at times last season, scoring the odd crucial goal or two for them in the Prem. Consistency has been what he has lacked since his Leeds days two seasons ago but that's more down to not really being afforded the opportunity to play regularly ever since then! With Sven constantly shuffling his pack here then Beckford has been frustrated so far by the same rule of thumb since his arrival a few weeks back. We'll know more by Christmas I'm sure when the winter kicks in re Beckford, as we will about the whole team and whether Sven's tactics/team selections have been wise ones since we kicked off while trying to find that winning formula all along.....the jury's still out of course..
seenitall Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 I really miss all the other great strikers we have had in the past few years - can't actually remember any names but I'm sure they were brilliant - I wish we could get rid of Sven and Beckford and Nugent and all the other crap players we have now and get a proper team together featuring some good players like Junior Lewis and Geoff Horsfield and Josh Lowe - man I need to relive the glory days of Leicester - how about David Pleat and Peter Taylor running the team together - ace

It's not his lack of goals as they come & go for forwards (except Vassell where they mainly go) but Beckford's all round game is shocking!
Bryn Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Not being played correctly, needs to be given the ball in behind. Lazy **** though
Guest Col city fan Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Beckfords first half display today was possibly one of the worst ive seen in a long long time... He just didn't seem bothered.... Anyone who disagrees were not watching the same game as I was
kingfox Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 He was at fault for the second goal today, didn't run at the defence, didn't even try. The way he has started, he is the worst striker I have seen in a Leicester shirt, and I have seen De Vries and Hammond play. People might say im talking out of frustration, but dear god he was absolutely woeful today and on Wednesday his second half performance was Non League standard.
acooling08 Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Walking away from the ground today about 20 minutes early, group of lads were calling him a lazy nigger. Thought it was a bit harsh, but certainly he has been sooooo disappointing so far.
J.Lisemore Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 this guy could give Yakubu a run for his money in terms of lazyness.

Anyone who disagrees were not watching the same game as I was i hope he comes good . . . . . . but up to now he has been garbage, piss poor first touch and no desire
FrankieADZ Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 i dont think he is, he looks like a lost sheep at times...Vassell did more than him. Oh and wasnt it JB who gave the ball away in the lead up to there 2nd? pretty sure it was. Jury is very much still out on him for me.
