sphericalfox Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Oh give over. MON filled his teams with people who carried a major goal threat and made sure we attacked with purpose. How many goals do we score from centre-back now? Hardly any. But Walsh and Elliott were major assault weapons because they want it and mean it. And what about the rest of our attacking presence in the box? Who the hell have we got to match the combined threat of Heskey, Marshall, Cottee and Izzett in the box? Together with the centre-backs we put the wind up everyone especially with the likes of Guppy able to aim in pinpoint crosses. And that was against the likes of the Arsenal of Bergkamp and Henry etc, not Barnsley and Scunthorpe. I'm not painting MON any more colourfully than he deserves and would sooner look ahead with the likes of OGS or even Di Matteo for the future. But there's no diluting MON's achievements here and on an extremely modest budget. One day Pearson might evolve well enough to kiss his feet. But that time's a way off yet seeing as his sorry attitude to away matches didn't even get us out of the Championship. Oh give over. m00nie Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 http://boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tno=297 thanks
HoustonFox Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Did you honestly think he would? Even he had signed a contract and was waiting to be unveiled, it'd be highly unlikely he'd wave and just ruin the conference totally. How would he look if he didn't though? I am doubting it will be him. I wouldn't object but would still like OGS to be honest. MON maybe but I still think it will be so tough for him, with all the expectations we have built up. Just look at the forum and see the MON v NP posts and then multiply that by 26000. A guy who has been through a lot of stress, does he really need to come back and face that? Yes he could be the man to take us back to the promised land, I hope he does if he comes but what if he doesn't. Imagine the Sheffield Utd protests but now know KNOW what he has done for us. Has he been in touch with the game and who to buy since leaving Villa?
Thracian Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 I watched the Hull game. Pearson never waved goodbye to the fans, if that's any indication. And how many goals did they score? Or in the game before? Out of 16 Championship games so far this season Hull have scored one goal or less in 14 of them. And we want him back! It's like a form of self torture. .
Fox92 Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Probably shitting it at the thought of interviewing Pearson True.
HoustonFox Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Let's hope he learned how to coach players how to take a corner whilst he was away....threat in the box.... No one scores from corners nowadays but we still expect them to and go on about Walsh, Elliott etc... as if we are back in 1997.
The Doctor Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 I'll be totally deflated if it is the return of NP. No doubt he did a great job for us League 1 and we probably wouldn't be in this position now if he hadn't turned the team around, but one season of his negative tactics in the Championship was enough for me. It was the momentum of winning League 1 that got us into the playoffs, we looked a mid table side for most of that season and some of the football was dire. I'm also fearing with the funds available he'll want to bring Fryatt back. And if he does? Fryatt was absolute dirge under Sousa, Sven and, well pretty much every other manager he played under for us, but Pearson got the best out of him and looking at Fryatt's form at hull, NFP is doing it again. I'd happily have NFP back, the two seasons under him restored a lot of pride in my club. The football wasn't always beautiful although there was some good quality football (Cheltenham, Forest & Scunny home to name but a few) and brilliant team performances (Newcastle home, QPR away). With the other names bandied about (Jones, Davies, Keane etc.) I can't see why anyone wouldn't take Pearson. I'd prefer MON and would be happy with Hughes but Pearson would still be a good appointment.

Thracian, out of interest are you the same guy that did the Leicester City podcast when NP was in charge? If not, you both have the same passion against him.
Captain... Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 I watched the Hull game. Pearson never waved goodbye to the fans, if that's any indication. Doesn't suprise me, I don't remember him making any statement or gesture to the fans when he left us for Hull, all I remember him saying was how great it felt to be at Hull. To be honest I was very disappointed with him in the way he left and I'm not really sure I want him back. He did a great job when he was here, for that I will always be thankful. Whatever the real reason behind him quitting he still left us for Hull and without a good bye or a thanks or even a nod towards the fans, in my eyes that showed a real lack of class, compare that to Sven's statement after he was fired. He dropped a lot in my estimation not because he left but the way he did it. Would much rather Hughes, Di Matteo or Clark, and to be honest I don't see him as much better than a Jones or Davies, a solid Championship manager and not much more.
Salieri Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Thracian, out of interest are you the same guy that did the Leicester City podcast when NP was in charge? If not, you both have the same passion against him. It's the very same man who once infamously suggested that 'Pearson was God'.
Clarkielcfc Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 rumour has it all betting is suspended on lcfc manager, just what im hearing, so dont shoot!!!

Yet there still a point outside the playoffs Like it or not his style of football WINS games

In a team struggling to score, 14 goals in 15 games. I'd say he's part of the problem as he was here after Pearson left.
ajthefox Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Still don't believe it. As for the bookies stopping, they're just covering their backs. If there's good word we're approaching, why would they run the risk of getting tonnes put down on NP and having to pay out? It doesn't make any sense.
lcfcsnow Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Listening to this Pearson interview makes me want him even less, can't be doing with this all over again.
Thracian Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Yet there still a point outside the playoffs Like it or not his style of football WINS games But it doesn't win enough games. And such a cautious philosophy hardly ever will.
Craig Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Says it's up to the reporters to ask the club if there's been an approach, he has no idea but doesn't expect one. Doesn't deny his interest, seems very uptight about it.
SMX11 Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Pearson's interview he was seriously annoyed about the question "Are you interested in the Leicester job"
Matt Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Love Pearson. Seems like it's not just Stringer than annoys him in interviews.
Leicfox Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 rumour has it all betting is suspended on lcfc manager, just what im hearing, so dont shoot!!! http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/leicester-specials/next-permanent-manager Don't think the bookies actually have a clue...Some nice big Asian betting syndicate hits the jackpot.
HoustonFox Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 It's the very same man who once infamously suggested that 'Pearson was God'. But that he is an Aetheist...
Thracian Posted 5 November 2011 Posted 5 November 2011 Thracian, out of interest are you the same guy that did the Leicester City podcast when NP was in charge? If not, you both have the same passion against him. I'm not passionately against him personally - I'm against people peddling illusions and I'm against cautious, unambitious football. I've been against it before Nigel Pearson ever saw the City managerial seat. And considering what's happened season in, season out I'd expect everyone to be against it but they're not.
