Nigel Pearson?

Pearson being interviewed about the job is very interesting. He's clearly very frustrated about being asked about the job, but is refusing to make comments ruling himself out.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but that seems quite significant.

Love Pearson.

Seems like it's not just Stringer than annoys him in interviews.

Amen to this. I love the bloke and I'm fed up of hearing all this stuff about boring Pearson this boring Pearson that.

Reporters clearly just don't get that he won't budge.

I don't want to get my hopes up but I can't help but agree...

I'm not passionately against him personally - I'm against people peddling illusions and I'm against cautious, unambitious football. I've been against it before Nigel Pearson ever saw the City managerial seat. And considering what's happened season in, season out I'd expect everyone to be against it but they're not.

Fair enough. Who do you see as a team we should emulate in terms of style? QPR from last year? Norwich? I like The Canaries style myself and the way they are taking on the Premier League now is sentiment to that...

No offense to Pearson but I will be so disappointed if we don't get MON having said that I am sure NP will do a good job should he become our manager.

It's the very same man who once infamously suggested that 'Pearson was God'.

That was a public statement issued in the spirit of unity and with tongue very much in cheek. It reflected the optimism of the time but I called him about his lack of goals and away day ambition very early on and on many occasions both at that time and others -as I'm sure you well know given how sharp your selective memory seems to be.

He definitely has an interest in the job, otherwise he would come out and say he was committed to Hull, as Clark did a few days back?

If Pearson was to return Leicester City the club would be even more of a laughing stock for the way we ship managers in & out at free will. I't could also potentially mark Pearson's career as a manager too.

I'm really not overly enthused by the idea of NP coming back, I went to enough away games whilst he was in charge to be bored to tears at some points. My main worry about NP is the same worry I had when he was here originally, if he gets us up then what? I don't think he's got that je ne sais quoi to be able to pull off a Stoke (not that it'd be ideal anyway) and we'd come crashing back down faster than Derby did during their hallowed season.

But the difference is this time he will be given more money to spend than when Mandy was in charge, hopefully get a better standard of player.

But who got rid of him? MM or Top and the boys? If my old work asked me to come back but with a massive pay rise, more freedom to recruit who I wanted and a bigger budget, I'd go back... Just think how often you get to go back and do what you wanted.

I'm not really one for emulating anyone, I'm more about setting our own standards. But I do like Nigel Adkins philosophy at Southampton. He is very positive, intent on scoring the goals that might give him victory both home and away and he seems to address the details we seem to miss. Like making sure his team takes imaginative, well-rehearsed free-kicks.

Just look at the difference in the records of Hull and Southampton this season. Adkins team has scored three or more goals nine times in the Championship, ridiculing the myth that it is such a dificult League to play football in. What they have in abundance is conviction. Four more goals at Coventry today while we hardly dared venture over the halfway line even when we had a full side. I remember Pearson at Coventry when he was here. He was quite satisfied with 1-1 and never seriously attempted anything more. In other words he got what he deserved for his caution. One point instead of three.

So O'Neill hasn't said he's not interested either?

Have we had official confirmation from Hull about an approach?

And more money will not make Pearson's team more interesting. Money or not his teams are boring grinders. Nick a goal here, sit back there. Nothing to inspire or stir the blood.

I hope he knows what to do with it. He's bought all our deadwood for Hull.
