Corky Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 Kennedy and Moore sounded solid today, well done to both as it must've been a shock to be thrown in. But overall well done to the team, I thought we'd cave in when they scored but we showed character and determination and the defence was dependable.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 well done lads. good win. lets not get carried away tho eh
foxoffderby Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 Forgotten what it was like to win a game. Well done lads, glad the new players bedded in well. Good to see Pearson being brave enough to make changes. Down side Howard being sent off should know better, Beckford again looks like he can't be bothered. I hope Tom Kennedy gets a run in the team. Always thought he was good enough but was never given the chance.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 Great result. Kennedy, Abe, King all sounded good according to Stringer and Young (granted that might not mean much) Happy with the result and I'm not one to look for the negatives straight away but... Steve Howard, you are an idiot. Here's a guy who is meant to be an experienced pro, an example, and in a game where we're obviously clinging on and need everyone trying they're hardest (yes, you too Beckford), he goes and gets sent off for running his mouth. I'm through with him. Passion? More like idiocy. Could so nearly have cost us today and when he offers so little else, he's not worth another chance. 5live commented how well they played too
Lillehamring Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 not entirely convinced that sounded any better than the previous games, but at least we sounded a lot more solid and committed; don't think we created much but at least we took our chances today. a change is as good as a rest but does anyone really feel that we've turned a corner? hopefully this will be a confidence boost rather than just a ground out one off performance... priority has to be a creative midfielder.
Bert Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 Everyone bar Howard was worth their salt today. That's what we call a TEAM effort.
Happy Fox Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 Now we know we have a dependable back up LB in Kennedy, at least this team showed heart and commitment, unlike those that have been left out i.e Wellens.
cc_star Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 Thought Pantsil had maleria or something? 3-5-2 is the way forward, if Tunchev was struggling and Pearson goes for 3-5-2 again who comes in at centre half? Berner? Kennedy & Moore have played there We played 4-4-2 2nd half though, so I'm not sure what we've learned
Salieri Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 It would be harsh if Konch and Pelts walked straight back into the team. I know they were rested as opposed to being dropped but I think Kennedy at least deserves to retain his place.
Matt Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 Well done, won't get too excited, worried its another false dawn, but good, hopefully we have turned a corner, and if there is any question of the fans support from the players, come back after Saturday when you see 8,000 follow you away. Sounded worrying towards the end, and please can we get rid of Beckford. Some people called Yakubu lazy, atleast he scored goals.
Simmo86 Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 Good news Kennedy & Moore were great by the sounds of it, which is great news for pressing Pelts & Konch Midfield sounded a nightmare. King appeared to be doing it all with Abe going missing in the 2nd half and Danns completely anonymous for 89mins except for goal. Nuge had a shocker, completely anonymous and Schlupp seems to have no strength This is why we were on the backfoot for too long, both players were deservedly subbed Can't believe Howard let NP down like that, luckily it didn't matter in the end What does Danns need to do for you to give him some praise? Scores and sets up another more or less the 1st time he's started in his proper position and you still slate him. You moan at people for slagging Wellens off but your treatment of Danns is just of clueless!
martyn Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 Just in the car, really dogged performance and although palace had pressure, we were reasonably comfortable. Kennedy was brilliant, schlupp just behind. Danns, Abe and Bamba also good, ccstar your post is completely wrong.
ousefox Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 Fernandes has gone and St. Ledger's thrown his toys out the pram - neither were going to be involved today Yes i know, that's why it highlights the crap Sven brought in unnecesarilly.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 Good Win, and how we needed it. Up to 10th temporarily, 4 points away from play-off spots
cc_star Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 not entirely convinced that sounded any better than the previous games, but at least we sounded a lot more solid and committed; don't think we created much but at least we took our chances today. a change is as good as a rest but does anyone really feel that we've turned a corner? hopefully this will be a confidence boost rather than just a ground out one off performance... priority has to be a creative midfielder. This is what NP has said since he first re-joined us "change the mentality of the players, or change the players themselves" This month he has a small chance to do it (sadly it's not the summer where you have the picking of the whole of the market) but I'd expect to see this mentality continue
Leicester Lass Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 Kennedy was absolutely outstanding, King looked so much better without Wellens next to him too. Moore struggled a bit in the first half, but that's understandable given he was thrown in at the deep end a little bit. Good shift from Schlupp too. Overall a fantastic team effort (besides the stupidity from one of the most experienced players in our squad), let's just hope it's not a one off.
The Doctor Posted 2 January 2012 Author Posted 2 January 2012 Yes i know, that's why it highlights the crap Sven brought in unnecesarilly. Fernandes wasn't unnecessary crap, he's a good player but wasn't given a proper chance by Nige and as for St. Ledger - needed more CB's, so not unnecessary either, just the wrong player.
Corky Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 I won't get carried away, I'm just pleased we've won and shown some strength at 2-1 up when we could easily throw it away. It's good to have that winning feeling again.
leicester4life Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 Kennedy & Moore have played there We played 4-4-2 2nd half though, so I'm not sure what we've learned We've learned 4-4-2 doesn't work, 3-5-2 does. Least Kennedy and Moore are different options, would like to see Bruno there though, could be a calming influence on the other 2.
Thracian Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 Well, no Wellens and we go to a place where we usually get beaten and win 2-1 with king having what sounded like an influencial game in defensive midfield. After so many disappointing home results, three points at Selhurst Park is a significant achievement and especially for MoM tom Kennedy and youngster Liam Moore. The lad on the radio right now is saying everything about Beckford. He just doesn't play for the team. Howard was as bad or worse leaving him colleagues exposed on the battlefield. Beckford does have talent but he's not what we want or need. There was Dyer chasing back, Schlupp running himself into the floor, Kingy making vital defensive headers, Moore tackling everything that moved and Kennedy recovering from hopeless positions to make his presence felt again. But Beckford would have picked up more in wages than all those lads and for what - a fraction of the effort in only a shortish cameo on the pitch. This win today was important. It keeps us just in touch with the play-off places at a time when our personnel ought to be improved. Clearly we have a couple more players who have lifted themselves into contention and that is an unexpected bonus, no question. So at least some cause for celebration and some genuine positives.
dannythefox Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 That is a great result! many more to come hopefully and well done to Pearson for dropping people!
