Libertine Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 I don't want him in the side overall but let's get someone else in before letting him go. He's an okay player, bigged up and slagged off too much by both sides. CC Stars point is very fair. Hopefully DD will be ahead of him very soon though.
smudger63 Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Great Post Wellens along with a number of other players has had four managers (counting Pearson twice) over the last one and a half seasons, imagine how that would affect anybody in their workplace certainly unsettling if nothing else. Wellens had a cracking game on Tuesday night but none of the "Out Brigade" had got the balls to come on here and say so, same goes for Beckford. Some of our fans think real life works along the same lines as a footballing computer game which it obviously doesn't - to those who take every opportunity to fire insults at our players take time out to read some of the more constructive posts on here and try to learn more about the game and life in general before sending out crass statements. Yep, an improved performace from "Richie" against the scum on Tuesday. Of course the fact he was playing against a midfield that didn`t press and gave him time on the ball did help.Wellens is ok when he is given time on the ball, but in this division, you rarely get that time, and need to move the ball quicker, sadly for him he has not been able to do that for some time now. I honestly believe his age is catching up with him, at a time when fitness is such a major thing in the modern game. Hence why he now can`t manage to train every day! I didn`t even think Wellens was that great last season, despite him somehow winning our player of the season award over Kyle Naughtion. He had a good spell during our good run just after christmas, and was actually pulling the strings the way a supposed midfield playmaker should be, at that time. Our loss of form after that good run though, didn`t just coincide with Sven messing about with the team, it came when Wellens stopped performing to a decent level too. This season, he has been woefull! Lets just see how he performs from now, whether he is able to maintain the performance he put in against an absolutely dire Forest, or whether we still get the same kind of substandard performances, he has churned out for the rest of this season so far. If he turns it around, and performs, then fair play, i will take my hat off to him and say well done. If not he will be criticised the same as any other player who is not performing!
Kitchandro Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 I'll happily swap him for Snodgrass, he's past his best. I wouldn't get rid without a replacement though.
crisp packet Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 most of our squad is shite mate This ain't football manager Signed a new contract under sven on good dough! Leeds couldn't afford his wages.... When Richie plays well we mostly do ??? ( my opinion ) 😃
Albert Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Don't pay any attention to this.....not going to happen
Bert Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Any particular reason? Not been told that. My guess would be that he's not guaranteed to start every game.
Stevosevic Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Not been told that. My guess would be that he's not guaranteed to start every game. Interesting. Thanks. I can see another CM coming in.
Happy Fox Posted 22 January 2012 Author Posted 22 January 2012 What a joy to behold Wellens is leaving, and we will be better off without him, NP knows the deadwood and he is getting rid off it.
Happy Fox Posted 22 January 2012 Author Posted 22 January 2012 I would expect us at least too get 2 central midfielders though priority would be a replacement for Yuki, Wellens replacement is Danns imo.
Guest Col city fan Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Did any of you who are wishing Wellens away to Dirty Leeds see his performance again Florest? If his name was Yuki Wellens half of you would be plating his balls in gold. Abso fookin lutely! Wellens was great against Forest and has been vilified on here by our so-called fans for months. I'd keep him at the club without a doubt. And I think Pearson will want to keep him
Kitchandro Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Any particular reason? Maybe because all our fans are booing and jeering him?
Happy Fox Posted 22 January 2012 Author Posted 22 January 2012 Maybe because all our fans are booing and jeering him? Or he is plain shit and isn't going to help our promotion cause NP is getting rid of the deadwood good news.
Kitchandro Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Or he is plain shit and isn't going to help our promotion cause NP is getting rid of the deadwood good news. That's why he 'wants out'?
Guest Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Maybe because all our fans are booing and jeering him? Or because he's not of the correct standard, has been found out and doesn't like it. Still I can't belive that even Leeds are stupid enough to pay him this much for the next few years.
ithuriel Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Would be surprised if he left in the transfer window, especially since we would need to get more midfield players in what with Yuki going, King injured.
kingfox Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 He wants out. Thank god, hope your true about this one Bert. No more fookin Wellens...hopefully
Corky Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Maybe because all our fans are booing and jeering him? He gets off pretty lightly in that respect within the ground. Plenty of stick on here, mind.
Kitchandro Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Or because he's not of the correct standard, has been found out and doesn't like it. Still I can't belive that even Leeds are stupid enough to pay him this much for the next few years. I'm just saying, if it was me getting booed and jeered on a Saturday for my mistakes, and was generally hated by the fans for no real reason, I wouldn't be happy either. It's true what people say comparing him to Abe. One is loved and one is hated when the former is no better than the latter. In fact last season Wellens was a class above Abe. Abe hasn't improved and Wellens has just got a lot worse. As I said I think he's past it now, but I'll never understand some of our fans' attitudes.
fleckneymike Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 I think Wellens is hated more online than he is at the ground. I can only think of a handful of occasions when he has been booed and they were all within the last few games.
