Criggers Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Wellens hasn't been playing well for a year. Ever since he won player of the month last Jan he hasn't had a good run of form. Also, would people please stop using the forest game last week as proof he is any good. Yes he played well but the whole team looked good because forest were really, really poor. Time to look forward I think. I doubt Wellens would be playing much next season so let's get in as much of the squad now that Pearson wants to have next season so we aren't making 20 transfers in the summer.
Kitchandro Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 He gets off pretty lightly in that respect within the ground. Plenty of stick on here, mind. As in he hasn't had any rotten tomatoes thrown at him? We haven't thrown him to the lions for half time entertainment? How do you expect people to react to a bad performance?
Cropwellfox Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 He wants out. Whether anyone else will pay him what barmy Sven offered him is another thing entirely though,

Sums it up perfectly for me. Forest had no midfield at all on Tuesday - first half greening and boateng who make wellens look like usain bolt, second half they had Andy Reid and 5 attackers, enough said. The quicker we can get rid of anybody who isn't around for the long haul and make some permanent acquisitions the better.
teblin Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Swap for snodgrass could be on? Guess if he does go we'll see another young prem centre mid come in as cover.
Fox92 Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 hold on, hold on, hold on. Wellens gets the ball down? I better have a fvcking word with specsavers 'cause they've clearly got my prescription wrong. When I see Wellens play he doesn't keep the ball down, he launches it long, to avoid having to actually move his fat ass and make space to get the ball back. There isn't any point in even saying anything because you have never liked him and won't change your mind now. I know that you will post if somebody says something good about him. Lets hope Drinkwater is consistant, or else he will be in for it next. This . Sums it up perfectly for me. I find it funny how Wellens has a good game against a poor Forest team and you play it down. Yet, without him against a poor Derby midfield we played well and you try and say it was becuase Wellens didn't play
mhs123 Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 i can not see Pearson letting wellens go he is a senior member of the squad, OK he is out of sorts at the moment but having more energy around him will only benefit his game, and booing is only counter productive and helps no one so please think about it before you do it
smudger63 Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Any particular reason? He probably thinks he`s to good for us!
EnderbyFox Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Forest was his first decent game for us in a very long time.
Guest Col city fan Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 IF the rumours are true and Wellens has got the ump cos Pearson won't play him every game then I would definitely let him go. No player can hold the manager to ransom. I very much respect Mancini doing this with Tevez... Superb player that he is there is no way any player should hold this much sway at a club. IF Wellens is up to these antics then it should be adios.....
ousefox Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Fair play to him if he's been told he isn't going to play every game, suprised though because i doubt he'll get paid close to what we pay him anywhere else.
LCFC FOX Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Give Leeds 3 million and Wellens for Snodgrass
Mack Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Makes sense now why he put a shift in on the telly against florest. St Ledger was doing the same in my opinion. Shop window and all that.
lcfcliam Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Wellens is getting a lot of unfair stick here its pathetic! IMO i think he hasn't been as bad as many people are making out here!
reynard Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 What a joy to behold Wellens is leaving, and we will be better off without him, NP knows the deadwood and he is getting rid off it. Be careful what you wish for. it is ok to get rid of players who don't want to be here but they have to be replaced by better players. So far I don't see a big queue waiting to replace him or Abe or King (who is likely to be out for quite a while if he really has done his achilles).
5waller5 Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Clueless fickle fans, he was player of the year last season and is a quality player. Funny how he played really well against Forest and you don't mention it. He is not the cause of all our problems you could list loads of problems and also highlight specific individuals for us dropping points St ledger for his pass to Maynard making it 2-1 to them Mills for the penalty against Forest Mills again for getting sent off at Birmingham and Hull Gallagher / dyer for lack if cover for Peltier when Vaz Te went by him against Barnsley The list goes on and on , I find it hilarious some of the comments by so called fans on here get behind the club ffs and stop looking for a scapegoat. If you are going to slate people back it up or shhhh Or you could criticise the absent midfielder that has consistently let players pass their way around him without making any effort to track back, and that stands still pointing all game?? Or the same guy that plays the champagne ball to convince people that he's good, when the less flamboyant easy ball would have been a better option. Oh and yes, he had an adequate game against Florist .... the first time he's been good enough to be in the team all year.
Guest Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Why do people keep going on about the forest game? Forest were sunday league like without the energy. Their midfeild didn't close us down at all and that's where we have all the problems. any Championship footballer should be able to make a good pass given as much time as he wants.

This whole Wellens debate will just roll on to be fair 'the first time he's been good enough to be in the team all year'? Funny that... You could have said exactly the same thing about Mr Beckford who's constant lack of effort and desire have been nicely overlooked by many on here. Weighing it all up it would seem better that Richie goes. He won't be a regular by the looks of it and the constant bombardment and scapegoating of him would make any player want to leave I would imagine.
Guest Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 I would say it about Lazy confidence crisis Beckford as well. but that doesn't excuse Wellens
RonnieTodger Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Is that what it's come to? Believing the Daily Star with no direct quotes, just because it says Wellens will leave. ****ing hell.

I agree .... i think his time at LCFC is up .... he's been good and has started to deteriorate .... whether the criticism is greater than his fall in form or not is debatable ... but I don't think anyone would say he is playing as well as he has. Maybe it's best for all parties to say goodbye now and have some fond memories on both sides. As for Becks .... yes and no ... He hasn't put as much effort as he did against forest ... but he has looked like he has the raw materials and potential to change a game and score a game at any time.... and that's what being a good striker's about!

It is, but what good is it to us if he's not going to us it regularly. Time to step up Beckford. He had a good game Tuesday, by far his best game for us, and deserved MOTM, Use it consistanly and prove us wrong.
Corky Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 As in he hasn't had any rotten tomatoes thrown at him? We haven't thrown him to the lions for half time entertainment? How do you expect people to react to a bad performance? No, you suggested a reason for him possibly wanting to leave was through being booed and jeered at the ground. I was saying that he doesn't get a huge amount of jeering at the stadium. In two-and-a-half years at the club I'd say it has only occurred in the past month or so.
Bryn Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Don't believe for a second Wellens wants to leave, still starting regularly, on better money than he'll get anywhere, unlikely to get a move to a bigger club, getting on in years.
