bald reynard Posted 1 May 2012 Posted 1 May 2012 I wonder whether Nige is contemplating bringing in a new Coach this summer. I think one's desperately needed - we never did replace Chris Powell and there must be far too much work for NP and Craig Shakespeare to do on the training ground alone (assuming Walsh is mostly off scouting everywhere). When you look at other Championship clubs (even ones with less dosh than City), they usually have 3 or 4 Coaches, in addition to the Manager. Oh I forgot, we've got Stowell haven't we ?! 'Nuff said - we definitely DO need another Coach then ! I thought Bruno might have been given a chance (but he obviously wanted to get back to those Alpine meadows again - no surprise !) - and then there was Oakley (off to his Vineyard I guess) and Howard (too Geordie for people to understand ?). If people agree we need another Coach - who do you think could do the job at City ?

There's not a chance in hell of us getting promotion without a specialist coach for this area of the team. Think we need a GK coach too, Kasper has all the skills to be the best but decision-making is sometimes shocking, he stays on his line when he should collect & comes into no-mans land when he should stay on his line.... how about Peter Schmeichel,
Bert Posted 1 May 2012 Posted 1 May 2012 I think the one that the players travel to in the games is good enough.
LcFc_Smiv Posted 1 May 2012 Posted 1 May 2012 Slightly off topic, has anyone seen how big our Sports science staff team is? Obviously a part of the club that's receiving huge investment!
Tielemans63 Posted 1 May 2012 Posted 1 May 2012 Nick Barmby maybe That's not such a daft idea actually - he'll be out of work soon enough!
Mack Posted 1 May 2012 Posted 1 May 2012 That's not such a daft idea actually - he'll be out of work soon enough! He's out of work already.

Sports science departments are all well and good, but I'd rather they spend time learning how to score from corners / retain possession from throw-ins / defend properly.

bald reynard Posted 1 May 2012 Author Posted 1 May 2012 I think the one that the players travel to in the games is good enough. Bert, are you saying, from your 'observations', that you think Nige, Shakespeare and Stowell (and Walsh, when he's around) are sufficient ?
Jace Posted 1 May 2012 Posted 1 May 2012 What about Steve Walsh? A team of Steve Walsh, Steve Walsh and Craig Shakespeare could baffle opponents
LcFc_Smiv Posted 1 May 2012 Posted 1 May 2012 Sports science departments are all well and good, but I'd rather they spend time learning how to score from corners / retain possession from throw-ins / defend properly. And what would work better then figuring out the angle the player needs to strike the ball and the spped the ball needs to be travelling to create an effective whipped in corner for one of our players to get their head on.....
LcFc_Smiv Posted 1 May 2012 Posted 1 May 2012 And what would work better then figuring out the angle the player needs to strike the ball and the speed the ball needs to be travelling to create an effective whipped in corner for one of our players to get their head on..... FFS didn't want to quote that, how do I delete?
nuttytimmy Posted 1 May 2012 Posted 1 May 2012 We definitely need some expertise on the training pitch. Some will no doubt argue that we have no need for a defensive coach as Pearson fulfils that role but I would say that his focus is on the 'big picture' of management and we need a man dedicated to blocking-up the gaping holes that emerged defensively this season. An attacking coach? A goalkeeping coach? Both are probably desirable. We'd probably be better off spending £15m this summer on coaches than on players!
Grewks Posted 1 May 2012 Posted 1 May 2012 Totally agree - do not understand why we have a birmingham international coach
Corky Posted 1 May 2012 Posted 1 May 2012 He played with such great players as Juninho, Ravenelli, Waddle and Carlton Palmer. Surely one of those would like a coaching role at the club?
cc_star Posted 1 May 2012 Posted 1 May 2012 Wouldn't mind that coach that Forest parked at the KP a couple of months ago. We could do with that in some tricky away games.
sphericalfox Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 Instead of setting up a new topic, I thought I'd kindly use an old'un. I've just seen that Spurs have released Les Ferdinand and Chris Ramsey. A.) Do we need more coaching staff? If not why not? B.) Would either of the above be a good addition? C.) If not who?
lestajigs Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 Hopefully Austen Clark will still be doing away games, at cheaper prices
yorkie1999 Posted 19 June 2014 Posted 19 June 2014 What's with the nuff said shit. I thought mike stowel was the goal keeper coach and if he is , i think he seems to be doing a decent job.
