Charlie Hunnam in a show about Ed Gein, same series/people that did the Dahmer one a few years ago

The guy was a proper freak and the inspiration for characters in films like Psycho, Texas Chain Saw Massacre and Silence of the Lambs

In the original movie a storyboard was cut for time and money where the Alien was caught in the airlock by Parker, it lost its hand and ran, the hand growing back later. You can find deleted scenes online from this though I think it was left in the original novel which I used to have.

In Aliens the Queen tells her guard to back away when Ripley aims her flame thrower at her eggs.

There is nothing to say in any of the movies the alien can not be subdued or controlled, if you can kill a creature you can also subdue a creature, you just have to know how and in this story the cyborg knows how.

Okay - the ability to harm notwithstanding, the deadly efficiency of the alien has been totally subdued in this series.

Besides, the idea of an alien cattle prod makes zero sense in the context of the universe.

The Nostromo was sent to LV426 on a spurious rescue mission commissioned by Weyland Yutani with the directive of "crew expendable" precisely because of the inherent threat of the alien. They didn't have the fire power necessary to collect one.

This is the same WY that - years before the Nostromo in Alien Earth - suddenly have alien wrangling sacks and prods. It makes no sense at all. Aliens on a WY colony? Why send in the marines and Ripley. Per Alien Earth they just need cyborgs and cattle prods. Why would a company so hell bent on collecting the beast just totally ignore a weapon that can knock it for what can only be centuries.

Of course I accept the premise it can be harmed - General Spiers used this to some success in The Music of the Spiers or whatever. But isn't supposed to be a core feature .

Is you've read the books - Stephen/Stephanie Perry and so on - you'll know that central to every attempt to control or own the alien is total failure because of the strength and resilience of the beast. A cattle prod for it totally negates that.

It's dumb. Think of a better way. They've also nerfed the strength of the beast. That stupid scene where the eye infected parasite engineer bites into the alien in a fist fight was terrible. Too much Disneyfication there, for me.

The Eternaut people ffs. Get on board.

Just finished this.  Quite an atmospheric twisty sci fi thriller and definitely the first Argentinian series I’ve ever watched.

And it can now be talked to and reasoned with.

Such a missed opportunity.

There aren't many shows that stuck the finale that badly.

I mean, it's still a very good show, but that dragged it down from superb to that "very good".

Nah, lower than that.

Season 8 was a cash grab. We all know the final book(s?) will never materialise.

Michael Palin in Venezuela is a brilliant travel prog. 81 years old & still visiting fascinating countries that he really shouldn't be visiting.

Beautiful country ran by a lunatic, Michael portrays Venezurls in the best possible way.

100% agree, it’s ridiculous and doesn’t fit the timeline at all.

Ive always loved the Alien franchise, even loved Alien3 but since then its been in steady decline. Romulus was awful, let’s walk quietly through a room full of face huggers.

Alien Earth could of been so good, the cyborgs spoil it for me and the technology way superior to that in Alien, which as you say is set after Alien Earth. As for making into a “pet” to command that’s just Disney doing what Disney does.

I wanted to love it. But there's so much wrong or ridiculous.

The best format would have been one infected crew member hatches in a secluded civilization and havoc ensues whilst humanity tries to understand what is happening.

The thrill of alien has always been the fear of the unknown and the terror of helplessness. This is just weird.

A friend put it best - this isn't an alien production. It's TV show for people raised on marvel movies that happens to feature a xenomorph.

If you didn't watch Years and Years, then now is the time to watch it. Because it's all coming absolutely true.

All that's missing is a few details and that the timeline is a couple of years off.

Coldwater ITV I thought it was brilliant with the 4 main roles acted superbly.

Watching this now, have seen 3 episodes and can see where it's going...

Good acting throughout👍🏾
