Thought Adolescence was excellent. Felt like they couldn’t top the first episode, but some of the smaller things were so impressive.

The family scenes felt real and Stephen Graham’s facial acting alone is incredible.

It was indeed excellent. Thought episode three was a masterpiece.

What else really needs to be said about Adolescence; I binged it, and it is exceptional television.

The single shot style of filming was remarkable.

When the lad jumped out of the window and the camera followed as if we were by his side.

Apparently it was a single camera handed over to different cameramen as the story unfolded

And the whole thing was filmed a number of times to get the best outcome in terms of dialogue and errors. They then took the best version and that is what was shown

As a parent of two teenage kids of similar age, Adolescence was a tough watch.

Not exactly 'feel good' TV though, jeez. How sad and depressing.

Stephen Graham might just be the best actor of his generation btw.

There's been many, maybe thousands of posts on SM saying much the same.

There's also loads complaining that it was "slow" and "boring" with no outcome or ending. People who wanted to see a court case.

They seem to have missed the point completely. The "ending" was at the beginning. It is not a crime drama. It's about the impact of SM, school experiences and bullying, dysfunctional families, toxic masculinity and misogyny and the effects on the family of he who committed the crime, of which there is no ending.

I'm going to watch it again because there are many subtle nuances that I have likely missed.

PS. the boy at the centre of this, Owen Cooper, this was his first ever acting role.

The song Through The Eyes Of A Child, which played at the end, was sung by Emilia Holliday who played Katie, the victim.

The world wide recognition that's now being reported will ensure the deserved awards that this series deserves

Newsnight basically just had an Adolescence special. Number 1 on Netflix in 79 countries. That's massive.

I watched Adolescence and finished the last 10/15 mins with tears in my eyes. Absolutely brilliant and I echo the comments about Stephen Graham, especially in the last episode.

The way this was shot was also really well done. The end of episode 2 as the camera leaves the school, flies over the town and drops down and effortlessly sits in front of SG's character. Unbelievable.

Strange how Stephen Graham is so revered over here but doesnt really seem to have done it in Hollywood as of yet. Hopefully Adolescence's success can change that for him

He’s had a couple of big gigs with Scorsese. Was in the Irishman and Boardwalk Empire.

Smaller roles but Band of Brothers & Gangs of New York too plus two Pirates of Caribbean movies. He's never going to have the look for lead roles, possibly a villain or two mind

He’s been in quite a few big ‘Hollywood’ projects over the years. A couple of Pirates flicks, Rocketman, Venom 2, Matilda The Musical etc; A couple of Scorsese films and Boardwalk Empire on TV.

His family seem to be quite happily settled in The Shire, doing their own thing rather than chasing much Hollywood stuff. Him and Hannah Walters set up their own production company during the pandemic aimed at developing projects from underrepresented voices (I entered last year but didn’t get through) as well as producing their own projects, like Boiling Point and Adolescence.

They’ve reached a very niche part of the industry where they have the creative freedom to pretty much do what they want, which I’d consider a raging success IMO. Not many people get that, probably because not enough people seek it out.

I thought Adolescence was OK. Agree with the points regarding the filming of it, that was excellent. Two fantastic performances from Owen Cooper, and Stephen Graham. I did however feel that there was some large gaps in the story and felt it was a bit stop start at times. Episodes 1 and 3 were great viewing with wonderful acting, but 2 didn't really offer any value to the plot, and 4 just seemed to lose its way going off on a bit of a weird tangent. I do commend it though for shining a light on a subject that needs greater focus, particularly in an age when people with skewed views and opinions of the world have platforms to share their warped ideologies.

I know the topic started in the Netflix thread, but another big thumbs up for Adolescence from me.

Just a completely different take on a story of this nature. So raw and almost uncomfortable to watch at times.

The acting was superb. The young lad who played Jamie was brilliant.

Definitely one that will stay with me.

I think your analysis is good but what is better than OK? Like what do you watch that you think is better?

I saw a Prime trailer for this and dismissed it, now I'll give it a go.
