stripeyfox Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 Went so dark in Asfordby all the street lights came on (should post this is "are you street lights on?"). Damage to cars, conservatories and greenhouses.
Rincewind Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 had to put my room light on at 1.30. Heard the thunder didnt reaklise it was raining that much. OK now looks quite bright outside.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 I saw dark clouds swirling into the start of a downspout today, tendrils of cloud reaching down, but it never got close to touching down. The storm in Wigston at about 2:10 pm was amazing though, constant thunder and lightning with no gaps in between, you couldn't do the old trick of counting the gap and dividing by 4, because there weren't any, constant FLASH with a brief push and then BANG which would almost immediately be followed by another. Scary stuff! Plus the rain got in through the roof at work and turned where I work into a paddling pool!
Leicester_Numan Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 Worst storm i've ever seen. The hail was setting off all the car alarms . I had water coming down the inside of my front door. My mum's hallway and extension flooded and her power went off. It's still not back on yet
goose2010 Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 shouldn't laugh but it smashed the bosses band new (as in brought on Monday) Audi TT Window screen
Captain... Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 Lucky bastards, I am sweating like a pig in an office with the Air Con on the blink. (Norf London way, if anyone is interested)
Tom17LCFC Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 Dents on so many cars. I was inside and the mood just completely changed, went so dark. The thunder sounded mental as well. My mates got a pic on facebook of a hailstone about half the size of his palm!
davieG Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 Lucky bastards, I am sweating like a pig in an office with the Air Con on the blink. (Norf London way, if anyone is interested) Despite all the rain etc it's still very muggy here.
Bayfox Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 hail the size of golf balls in melton, lots of reports of bust conservatory roofs round east goscote way and next doors drains were dug up yesterday, silage everywhere, that rain isn't going to have helped. looking forward to going home.
Rincewind Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 This isn't mine. I wish I had written it. It is sort of connected to the topic. It mentions rain. rough sex written on walls in smoke signals On the carpet the blinds pulled backward, like her hair in your hands. grabbing her in complete need. The concept of control her’s, your own, doesn’t matter the rug burns your skin the fire in the flesh or the palm of a hand and outside the world ends, and water pours downward spiraling. the concept of control man and earth, fire and brimstone, male and female. You feel alive in the fleeting seconds of knowing all of her. Every nook and cranny. The rain can pour outside but for naught. Take another hit, she smells so good. This is where it came from. http://goddamninsomnia.tumblr.com/
Adster Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 You lot all only had rain? We had hail stones, the size of gold balls. Conservatories fvcked, car windows are fvcked, greenhouse is fcvked. Gavin from Autoglass is not fvcked.
lavrentis Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 I was watching my fish pond as massive hail went in Luckily they were unharmed
Tom17LCFC Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 It keeps chucking it down for literally just 5 seconds, completely stopping, then starts up again. Weirdest weather I've seen in a long time.
OzFox Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 Some samples of the hailstones that fell in Glenfield Currency from the skies. Some people have all the luck.
Jon the Hat Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 Not a cloud in the sky in Surrey. If it comes this way my wife will start asking for a Land Rover again like she did when it snowed.
MikeyT Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 I was out in it earlier and got cornered in the golf ball sized hale stones. Couldn't move and eventually just had to run back to the car. Never seen anything like it. Got a video of it as well. Haha
purpleronnie Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 Our weather is so tame compared to the rest of the world, it always makes me laugh when a bit of rain makes the headlines.
Jon the Hat Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 Our weather is so tame compared to the rest of the world, it always makes me laugh when a bit of rain makes the headlines. its why we ruled the world!
Father Ted Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 Down my way (Evington), the thunder and rain was pretty horrendous, not too much hail though. Never seen anything like it before in this country, it just went so dark and I was watching out of my kitchen window and you could see the bolts of lightning one after the other and everything was flooded within minutes! Had to get the broom out and start brushing the water on to the road!
Webbo Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 Dents on so many cars. I was inside and the mood just completely changed, went so dark. The thunder sounded mental as well. My mates got a pic on facebook of a hailstone about half the size of his palm! My sister in law got a new car yesterday, it's got dents in it already.
