Very poor first half. We were too deep and the central midfielders offered nothing at all.

The second half was much better and was what you'd expect to see. There's always going to be things that need tinkering with but overall it was quite a satisfying day.

We started off pressing well and high up but it soon deteriorated when every time we got the ball we gave it away. They were happy to just pass it sideways in their own half, had we realised this earlier and pressed them then we'd be sitting pretty at the top tonight. Again I think we miss a leader, the midfield is very young and there was nobody who took the bull by the horns to get us higher up the pitch.

Once the season gets properly underwa,y oppositions will work out how we play and set themselves up to spoil us. Lets just hope we can do the same and/or change our style to overcome this. We have to have more than long balls from Casper in times of trouble

The fact that Beckford working hard is worthy of comment says it all really; that should be the minimum requirement. He did ok today, linked far betterwith Vardy than he ever did eith Nugent and helped us defend from the front with some disciplined marking of their defenders at goal kicks.

Marshall shone in patches, and his set piece delivery is a massive upgrade on anything we've had since Izzet left the club.

Really pleased for King - an absolute trademark King goal if ever there was one.

Posh were awful. They used to be fun, but had all the worst elements of Spain from the Euros with none of the skill. They actually reminded me a bit of us under Sousa: two lumbering centre halves passing the ball to each other until one got bored and hoofed it up the pitch.

What was that chant all about? I sit in H so couldn't see who it was aimed at.

This man in the peterborough end giving abit of stick to the kids in the family stand!

After an average first half performance, we raised our game in the second half and looked far more purposeful. There are still areas we could do better but a win and a clean sheet is always very welcome and with good players sitting on the bench there is plenty of reason for optimism. A couple of tough away games against Charlton and Blackburn are coming in the next week so it was important we didn't drop points today and put unnecessary pressure on ourselves.

Also credit to Pearson for having faith in Moore instead of panic buying a centre back and it will interesting seeing how he copes against better teams in the coming weeks. I hope that even if we do sign another defender this lad continues to get chances.

First game I've missed at the start of a season in 12 years. Was gutted I couldn't be there. Managed to listen on the radio in the car as I was doing deliveries. Sounded like we were a bit shaky to start with but got into it second half. Great to get a win on the first day. :)

I suppose that's what Futacs is in the team for. Once the opposition tries to set up camp, we have option B.

Excellent team performance - I don't think we were poor first half, more that Peterborough were very negative. I've just read Ferguson's comments which he stated he thought Peterborough dominated the first half. Well, if passing the ball along the back line for 45 minutes, not having a shot on target is domination, then they are in for a long hard season. Thought we were patient today and never really looked like throwing the lead way. A composed defence, an industriuos hard working midfield and energised attack bodes well for the season.

Haha what a gimp! I like it when managers are just honest in post match interviews, and aren't afraid to say they were disappointed with their own team, have lessons to learn etc. Deluding yourself and your followers with bull$hit like that will get you no-where. There was no domination, they gave us no threat whatsoever, and although it was a slow start it was evident from early on it was only a matter of time before we were one up. And then two up. And plenty of chances after that.

James had been ill all week

I don't know why he was starting in that case. Surely a fit Danns or King is better than a half-fit James?

Anyway, we won, so in Nige we trust.

First half we looked happy for them to pass it about in their first third. Would never say there were on top at all, so what Ferguson is on I don't know. We needed to press a bit quicker and keep the ball better in our final third if we wanted to get anything from it and we did just that.

Watching I always felt there was another gear or two in the locker if we needed it. I thought the whole team looked solid, but special mention to Moore, Morgan, Drinkwater and Vardy who I thought were excellent throughout, the rest weren't bad either!!!

James looked solid and King also did very well when he came on. Hopefully the "Pearson is negative, we play long ball brigade" will wait a while before slating us now.

Seemed good enough to me

Thought he looked lightweight, and not for the first time this week.

Given that he's been ill, I'm sure he has far more to give long term.

I repeat, seemed good enough to me.

Got stuck in, passed it well and we were on top before he went off.

I wouldn't bet on it.

How much better does the defence look as a unit without the two clowns Peltier and Bamba?

I was saying for a long time that Bamba wasn't good enough and he is impossible to play with and today showed that. Moore and Morgan had a fantastic understanding and now 3 clean sheets in a row. Morgan can now dominate without having to look over his shoulder to see where Bamba is and whether he is playing the striker on or if he's in the middle of nowhere.

And De Laet offers so much more than Peltier in attack and defence. He gets forward with energy and purpose and delivers the ball with good quality. He even tracked back and bust a gut to do so. Much quicker too and positionally better.

I'll see them a bit more first, but we did look solid all over the pitch. A couple of blips, but nothing like last season.

Lets not get carried away. I don't think we can draw any conclusions from one game be it a win or a defeat.

If the defence can continue to develop an understanding we'll have ground for optimism. Lets just give credit where its due rather than seeking to draw unrealistic comparisons.
