Mirror - Redknapp emerges as shock target for Leicester

Harry is THE man. Quality, and not the rubbish we have in place now. With him at the helm we would go upwards. He is a PROPER manager, with a real pedigree, who can keep quality players and control them.

Truly hope you come here, as we will go nowhere with Pearson, who can't even tie up his own boot laces without help.

Sadly, 'Arry Boy is too big for out club.

Is this thread for real?

Do some people really want to get rid of Nigel Pearson only four games in and replace him with ol saggy eyes?

Genuine question cos I'm bewildered..

:o

Most (not all) of what Pearson has done so far I'm in agreement with and stick with my original post that we need to give him a couple of seasons before we consider a replacement.

And neither are you.

This now reads like 'nah nah na nah nah....'

All common sense says there is nothing to this story. Surely it is highly unlikely Nigel Pearson will leave at this point.

But...

Martin Allen,

Nigel Pearson,

Paulo Sousa,

Sven-Goran Eriksson

were all very unlikely to leave when they did.

Sousa as has been said was not a surprise, Sven wasn't a huge shock, Pearson left us after being forced out of the door and if you knew the reason behind the Martin Allen sacking then the only surprise is that he is still able to manage a football club. A little hint; it was related to Clive Clarke

So are we suggesting that after a Summer of rebuilding and a team that is beginning to resemble a team this should be dismantled and replaced by Harry's loanees? Ludicrous - it would be no different to when Sven took over, over priced players with no real desire to play for Leicester and then financial meltdown just like at Pompey.

Stick with Pearson if you want a chance of promotion.

Not this season IMO.

Next season I think we will have a better chance. Drinky, Ben etc will be another year on, more experienced, Pearson would have offloaded the ones he wants to and feel more settled at the club.

I genuinely believe promotion this season would be a major bonus. Next season (given Pearson being here) I will expect promotion.

And probably not playing for us anymore. That's the issue with building a young team, if these young players do impress they are likely to be snapped up by clubs doing better than us. I can't see Marshall being here next season the way he's playing.

This season may be Pearson's best chance. I'm not saying I expect us to go up either, I don't, but I think he knows that he probably has to get it right this season. If we don't finish at least very close to the play-offs, I'm not sure he'll still be in the job, but obviously, I hope it works out for him here. This league is quite poor really (not as poor as last season, but I think we've improved a bit) and I think we're capable of sneaking into the play-offs, and then who knows.

In any case, Redknapp is a crooked tosser.

I get your point in principle Kitch. However, I don't think Marshall is playing that well yet actually.

If he leaves us it would surely be to go to a Prem club and personally I don't think he's good enough yet. I think Drinkwater is having a better season than Marshall so far.

With Drinky it's obvious where he plays and what he's very good at. With Marshall I think he's a little wasted out on the right. Is he a 'winger' as such? I'm not sure yet personally. I think he's got bags of potential, but I can't see where he would naturally slot into a Prem side?

Anything less than promotion this season will be a huge disappointment given the requirement is to get us up if I am not mistaken? NP has to deliver quite frankly he has been given enough resources and backing (time wise the owners could of sacked him at the end of last season for not getting us into the playoffs despite the fact we had 30 odd games to do it imo), if the owners don't think he is up to scratch they will get rid, who they appoint will be gamble but any appointment they make would be a gamble for example appointing NP for the second time when he had no track record of promotion from this division not saying that counts for much but usually you would want to appoint someone that has done the business in this division anyway it is all relative until NP has gone.

Then you would sack Nigel Pearson if we don't get promotion this season?

That's essentially what you're saying Happy?

Happy Fox is never happy unless a transfer target is being discussed.

I don't think you need to be that good to get a transfer to a Premiership club these days. Just look at the figures being thrown around this summer for half-decent players.

If I was a bottom half Premiership manager and I saw the Blackpool game, and I'd seen the goals he's already scored for us, I'd be keeping an eye out for him. I think a lot of people would look past the fact he's not a typical modern winger and concentrate on the quality of his delivery. With the height that Stoke have up front it beggars belief they let him go so easily, if they'd been in the box against Blackpool surely we'd have been 2 or 3 up by half time.

I've only seen the Blackpool game this season but going on that and from what I saw of them both last season - I see Marshall as more of an obvious target for Premiership clubs, he's the one who scores eyecatching goals, looks more likely to get assists and create things. That's not to say Drinkwater isn't a good player, just that he doesn't stand out as much as Marshall.

Anyway, that's besides the point really, I just think if these young players do impress and we don't go up, we've got to be prepared for interest. By the end of the season we don't know how they are going to be valued, but i remember how quickly interest in King, Hobbs and Fryatt soared in a short space of time, and how in a similar time scale their reputations and sell on value plummeted. And it can rise again just as quickly, as we're seeing with King again. At the end of the season, who's to say we won't be saying 'I wouldn't accept any less than £6m' again? That is not just a reflection of our fans on Foxes Talk; the real world of football is just as fickle.

I just feel that whilst I don't demand promotion myself, I'm quite sure that Pearson does. He'll know that though he's got to build, he's got to get success reasonably quickly. I think it's a bit early to say we'll have a better chance next year, we have no idea how things will change between now and then.

My head says it won't be this year, but my heart says please for god sake let it be this year :)

I've never heard that before

I said about it on the BBC 606 forums a while ago and the article got removed straight away. I can't guarantee that it what I heard is 100% accurate as its 2nd hand info but it came from sitting on the board at the time.

Oh and because I can't promise that it is 100% legit, I'm not really going to air it publicly. Stupid on my part to bring it up I guess lol

It's a forum - very few can quote a reliable source, it's just opinion ..... what's your opinion on what may have happened!?

It was the current owners who brought Pearson back. That alone should tell everyone that they felt and probably feel Pearson is the right guy for the job.

Does anyone really feel that the owners have not been involved in the most recent revamp of the roster?

I cant imagine any change in management is on the cards unless the team drops into the bottom end of the league later into the season.

Okay, well this is not an opinion, either fact or fiction. I sent this message to somebody who asked me earlier:

ha, I can't vouch for this being 100% or all the ins and outs but my uncle is really good friends with somebody who was on the board at the time of the incident and apparently the medical team warned Allen that there was some kind of anomaly of his test results pre Forest. They suggested not to play him but Allen choose to do so anyway and the rest is history.

The rumours I heard were that in his own mad-dog style Martin Allen would get in players faces screaming and shouting at them including physically slapping players, in an attempt to gee then up and motivate, he was doing this to the lad when he had the heart attack.

That is the rumour I heard, I have no evidence to back it up and no reliable source it came from, just one of those things you hear.
