Worst Starting XI

Recommended Posts

Judging by the reactions on here recently I guess it has to be:

Kasper

De laet

Morgan

Whitbread

Konchesky

Marshall

King

Drinkwater

Dyer

Waghorn

Vardy

As boring as these threads usually are, I hope it reminds some of you what real shite is and appreciate what we've got.

We'll be looking back on that team with pain when we've got Messi, Ronaldo and that bloke with the floppy hair from Everton leading the line.

You'd probably be able to make 2/3 teams of rubbish players between the years of 2004-2008

There'd be a few choice ones from the Pleat era too, that was depressing football.

Luckily I only started going down Filbert Street since 1994 so fortunately I've had more good years than bad.

G.K Kevin Pressman

R.B Peter Canero

C.B Darren Kenton

C.B Steve Howey

L.B Alan Rogers

R.M Luigi Glombard

C.M Junior Lewis

C.M Stephen Hughes

L.M Lee Marshall

S.T Nathan Blake

S.T Geoff Horsfield

Subs. Mark De Vries, Mark Yeates, Andy Johnson, Martin Keown, Alan Maybury, Danny Tiatto, Elvis Hammond

That's getting closer. Still needs Josh Low, John Welsh (did a Ronnie Rosenthal on his second debut), and maybe that young lad Levein signed from Hearts.

Really?

I see more bad than good in there.

93-94 good year

94-95 bad year

95-01 6 good years

01-02 bad year

02-03 good year

03-08 5 bad years

08-10 2 good years

10-12 2 bad years

I think, had a few drinks and memory not great at the best of times, but yeah more good years than bad, just...

Robbie Neilson surely has to be up there with one of the worst. Recently, anyway...

Nah, he was just average hard working type often exposed by a lopsided formation, we have had some utter shite and he doesn't deserve to be in that bracket.

Frank Sinclair one of our worst players?!

That is utter madness.

Also, whilst Akinbiyi was hard Juninho, I would say that was more to do with his price tag than his overall performance. He was pretty shit, but by no means THAT bad. Graham Fenton, anyone? Arnar Gunnlaugsson

Arnie?? That's the worst suggestion so far. The guy was a legend, always entertaining as a sub... Or am I totally rose tinted? Just checked and he only scored three for us-felt like loads more...

Have you been drinking? I know I have and I wouldn't dream of posting such drivel. Talk about over reacting to an over reaction lol.

EDIT

I think, had a few drinks and memory not great at the best of times, but yeah more good years than bad, just...

And there we go.

Anyway, tough one this as you can view it in a number of different ways such as how they were througout their career, or just how bad they were for us, which again can be skewed by how many games they actually played. Going off what I've seen from full games for us I'd say

Kalic (Although Douglas runs him very close and had Casino Jimmy played a few more games.....)

Canero (Unlucky as our right backs have always been decentish)

Keown

Dabizas

Sheehan (Obviously)

Bori

Johnson

Kisnorbo (strictly as a midfielder, half decent centre back(

Glombard (much as I would have liked to have named Phillpot or Porter here)

Hammond

Horsfield

We've had that much guff over the years though, so you could make a case for about 50 players to be included.

I liked Arnie too, but I was putting Akinbiyi into perspective. He wasn't prolific but his goals to games wasn't as bad as some strikers we've had the privilage of paying.
