Tom17LCFC Posted 26 January 2013 Posted 26 January 2013 I'm assuming you were one of the ones booing at half time? Give the lad a break, he's clearly struggling for confidence but he's trying his best.
Bert Posted 26 January 2013 Posted 26 January 2013 Didn't think any of them played well today but he was marginally better than Waghorn. But saying that, Dyer was worse than the pair of them.
Father Ted Posted 26 January 2013 Posted 26 January 2013 He's crap. End of I have no issues with Vardy. He started very brightly in pre-season and there was a reason why he was starting ahead of Nugent. His performance at Blackburn was, in my opinion, arguably the best individual performance from a Leicester player this season. He followed that up with another excellent performance against Blackpool, winning the deciding penalty. He grabbed a very important equaliser at the time at Middlesbrough but little niggles have kept him out for 3/4 games at a time which has interrupted his progression. Along with some bad luck and IDIOTIC supporters, he is yet to recover his early season form. As long as he continues to put the effort in and has the balls to try things he normally would then he will grow. This is a learning curve for him and hopefully he won't buckle under the pressure from our IDIOTIC supporters like Mr. 'Weak people feel pressure'. With a bit more luck with injuries, officials and better finishing he would be matching Nugent in terms of goals right now. I REALLY hope he succeeds here because 1) to prove idiots like you wrong 2) he has a cracking attitude both on and off the pitch and his commitment is brilliant.

Manwell Pablo Posted 26 January 2013 Posted 26 January 2013 Vardy and Waghorn up front............. Lets not do that again eh?
coolhandfox Posted 26 January 2013 Posted 26 January 2013 Vardy and Waghorn up front............. Lets not do that again eh? Mistake by NP today, they just don't make good pair! Ethier with Wood/Futacs would have work today!
marbelladave Posted 26 January 2013 Posted 26 January 2013 I think Vardy is a pretty decent player, however the step up to this level, particularly in the role he has been asked to play, is a big one and he has yet to make it. In a different team, given a wide role in a front 3, I think he would have made the transition more easily. If we could play anything other than 4-4-2 we could have eased him in with a lot less pressure and maybe ended up with a decent striker, but just like Waghorn, he is at present simply not up to playing as a main striker, shame and a waste really......... Before we dump him, I would like to see him given a go wide left, given Dyers recent form I think it might be worth a go.......

Got to the JS a bit late, was annoyed when I noticed Waghorn playing but was unsuprised, was very annoyed when I saw Vardy playing along side him. I dunno why we bothered playing Wellens either, a 32 year old midfielder who has always been basic just gets stuffed into our starting 11 from nowhere having barely kicked a ball for us all season. He was never going to stand out really was he.

It was amazing against Millwall how much better he looked when he switched to the left. Better at cutting inside and using his pace. He can't hold the ball up and takes to long over his chances to be a good stiker... at the moment. Play him on the left every now and then and it may help improve his all round game.

I've tried to see the best in Vardy since he joined and he was playing well at the start of the season but when he has played recently, he's been poor. I'd much rather have players like Vardy than Beckford but when you look at how well someone like Waghorn performed when he started to get a run in the team and players like Schlupp who have far more potential, its hard to believe that Vardy is actually providing anything of note for us at the minute and he certainly shouldn't be getting picked ahead of others. I hope he can be a success because like you say, his attitude on the pitch is fantastic but he just doesn't look cut out to be a striker at this level let alone the Premier League (if we get there!). Like Marbella said, let's give him a go on the wing because he might be able to do a good job there and I think it will teach him to be more clinical with his overall play.
dmayne7 Posted 26 January 2013 Posted 26 January 2013 Or we could just play Wood and Nugent. Yes we could... Did I suggest we shouldn't be doing that then? Must have missed it

Arriba Los Zorros Posted 26 January 2013 Posted 26 January 2013 Do not understand where anyone who actually thinks Vardy is good enough for us, let alone a crap Championship side, is coming from. He wouldn't look out of place going straight back to Fleetwood now

Arriba Los Zorros Posted 26 January 2013 Posted 26 January 2013 I know, deluded. Apparently if you put a lot of effort in you should automatically start regardless if your ability... Yeah, a lot of people want to see him come good, cos he does have the right attitude and is a real grafter, but you're right, he's not got the ability, he needs to go down the leagues
kingfox Posted 26 January 2013 Posted 26 January 2013 I have come to a conclusion, I was willing to give him a chance but not anymore. He clearly isn't capable of Championship football, we have wasted a lot more money than £1 million on the likes of Mills and Beckford, so just admit this signing was a mistake and Vardy isn't good enough for Leicester City. He has a poor first touch, he is weak, and he can't finish, it takes him about 4-5 efforts to find the net, or he doesn't find the net at all. Jamie Vardy isn't good enough unfortunately, just loan him out and see how he fares in League 1.
marbelladave Posted 26 January 2013 Posted 26 January 2013 Looks like you did, to refresh your memory you were agreeing with a post suggesting we should swap our formation to put Vardy on the left hand side of a front three. Did I bollox....... I suggested that in a different formation he could have been eased into a more difficult and competitive league by playing in a less demanding role and possibly becoming a better player because of it. It didn't happen which I said I thought was a shame. Where did I suggest changing formation to accomodate him?........ I quite explicity said we can not play anything other than 4-4-2......
fleckneymike Posted 26 January 2013 Posted 26 January 2013 Bless the lad he's just not very good. As stated at the seasons inception his touch and timing just isn't there. Tries very hard but it's all in vain. The difference in the strike pairings is frightening.

Jamie Vardy isn't good enough unfortunately, just loan him out and see how he fares in League 1. I've gotta agree I'm afraid. I had great hopes for Vardy but I simply don't think his all round game is good enough for a promotion chasing side. His main problem, as Fleckney Mike said all along, is his first touch. Compare this to Chris Wood.... With Wood, the ball tends to stick. This gives him that split second either to lay it back for an oncoming player, or to turn and shoot. With Vardy (much like Beckford), the ball tends to bounce away from him and the attacking move breaks down. I don't agree with Marbella on this.. A poor first touch is a poor first touch whether it happens on the wing or down the middle. This type of lack of close control often defines a striker. In the conference he'd have just had more time to control the ball. In the Championship, he doesn't.
