I was on here in my original guise back in 2006 and I remember it being crap. So much so that I only made about one post per year. If there was any humour on the forum back then it was well disguised. I seem to remember a group of posters who appeared to know each other in real life, who would use each others real names instead of their forum names so that no-one else could follow the conversation. Awesome. There would be jokes going around but unless you knew the people involved they weren't funny, and I suspect even for the people involved they weren't funny.

The conversations were abysmal. I can't remember a single interesting topic. It was probably the most culturally vacuous forum on the net at one stage. No-one appeared to have any interests or hobbies at all. There were no topics about politics, society or the economy or anything. I think nitting was about as extreme as it got. All the while the clique back patting was there in every thread. Manifestations of individual superiority complexes embittered by perennial failure to impose themselves to any degree on the real life stage, coming together in one little corner of the web to suck each off until they could feel the pain no more. Horrible.

There were a few more females back then as well if I recall. They were put on a pedestal by the men, who you could almost guarantee were knocking one out every time they successfully interacted with a lady. The ladies for their part were extremely miserable. The kind of women who think they're attractive when they're not, having their ego's stroked by some short and fat chump with a palm full of cheese sauce, both parties engaged in a desperate bid to convince the world and themselves they that weren't complete and utter losers.

I dread to think what the public gatherings must have been like. This springs to mind:

Any time you want to discuss real life situation and achievement, I'm happy to.

I'm not going to do so publicly however.

I actually like you and some of your posts, Moosebreath, but the above is a complete load of old bol locks. I hope that typing it out made you feel a little better about yourself though, if only for a moment.

I don't remember it like that. I joined in 2004. There were fewer people on so there was bound to be fewer posts. I don't think I posted as much. I worked during the day and never had a laptop so never logged on while I was supposed to be working during the day. I posted mainly only on match days.

Anyway, perhaps all this illustrates is that my love affair with this place has drawn or is drawing to a close - and make no mistake its been a love affair.. and this obviously isn't a physical place, its just a collection of people. Those who have posted that posters come and go are right and I think its probably just a new breed now, a new class, and I just don't really get it this time around, so no hard feelings and I haven't meant to offend with this thread.

Didn't he used to be mates with Lil' Dave?

Yeah think so. Did Micky "ATMOSPHERE" Ruddle ever post on this board or did I just know him from games?

Think he started or fronted the N block movement back when we beat cov 3-0 at home in Mandarics first game. Ruddle mauled me in the celebs think he went flying five or six rows

That moosebreath post is incredible.

Its not about the topics or the intellectual discussions that went on, for me its about the genuine love certain people showed for lcfc back then and we, as a group, experienced it together.

What was your original guise if you don't mind me asking? And why did you change your identity?

Really doesn't worry me,I think it's quite nice that people get in touch .Living away, and never having lived in Leicester I have often said before I go to a match, home or away a rough description Eg 6ft 4" big wearing bah blah pink carnation etc feel free to say hello.im a fairly sociable character, but no cvnt ever has.Think there was a gathering of a few months back that Daggers was arranging, but I had a wedding, which was a shame.Do a bit of work near AOWW ,but never heard a women swearing, talking about shoes and cats, hatred for children saying " me duck"

We've got kingfox and Dangerous tiger to fill the void now.

Not being cocky or anything.

But I knew my name would get mentioned somewhere.

Thanks for the constructive comments, which have been noted.

I note further, that you are not interested.

Remind me to comment similarly next time you reminisce about anything, including 'when I had that friend,' 'when I once made someone laugh with a comment - or did they sneeze?' or anything about any LCFC result, season, player or manager.

If nostalgia, memories and the past are so unimportant then it makes the present pretty fu cking meaningless, no?

Goodbye!

Tbf it sounds a lot like you're dismissing half the posters on here as boring wankers who aren't good enough for you, and when Daggers is, that's quite offensive.

I think there is a lot of humour on this forum at the moment. Some genuinely intelligent and witty posters on here (myself not included) lol

Quite a lot of it gets overshadowed with petty squabbles and pedantic fookers but that's just people I guess.

Still there's no harm in reminiscing

I've read the first page of this thread and it's hilariously gay.

Moosey and Matt P would make for a hilarious night out! Some of the other lighter hearted posters would be welcome to join of course.

What if it's not the people who have changed but the club and football in general?

I thought moosebreaths post was very funny. I've never understood the fascination of meeting someone off a forum who you don't know unless it's a fit bird

Got through the first page of TPH drunk rambling.

If it's so bad here can I suggest you piss off. :P

Only half???

Daggers used to be funnier ;)

Olé! Hang on, why am I not on the list gin boy?

No idea, you should be, even as a relative later comer! Hope you're well mate. You did get a good mention in the gin thread!

You've completely missed the point. About par for the course. These people are friends of mine. I used to go every week home and away and would go with this people, drink with them, travel with them, you know, socialise? Outside of the Internet?

I bet fit girls off the Internet are falling over themselves to meet you!!!

There is definitely an in crowd. As ever it is those in the "in crowd" who are the only ones denying its existence.

A clique has to be distinctly exclusive and this place never was. The idea that post counts were relevant was always a myth. Anyone with the humour to delve in to any of the millions of stupid, surreal threads in Gen Chat and just have a giggle was appreciated. Banter about shit 90s footballers is hardly some sort of elaborate, impenetrable code for insiders only, is it? There might have been those who felt isolated or left out but I'd turn that back at them and suggest it was more their own insecurity and taking the internet just a tad too seriously.

I definitely wouldn't say there's any sort of crowd any more. The closest you have to it is some horrible right-versus-left faction shit going on here which has gotten way out of control, so much so that I've lost absolutely all interest in discussing anything particularly political or serious.

Well, don't fret. I only came back on recently to catch up with some old friends and discuss some football. Sadly a lot of old friends have moved on (hence trying to track them down) and the standard of football knowledge and insight on here has, if not declined altogether, been massively watered down.

I shan't be troubling you much longer! Not sure why the chip on your shoulder, but not my concern!

I'd suggest you read a dictionary. Actually, I wouldn't, that would be boring beyond belief, but that is not part of the definition of a clique.

Anyway, it's not important, just like 99.9% of the stuff discussed on here.

I don't think that's true, certainly not more now than before. Atm you can have an argument with someone in one thread and a laugh with them in another. The discussions aren't half as bitter as they used to be.
