Where can I buy a decent suit from in Leicester?

I'm 6 foot and quite slim, ie a bit of a lanky bastard so decent fitting blazers are not the easiest thing in the world to find.

Now I'm not too sure wether to buy something off the shelf and then get it altered if needs be or be a flash bastard and go all out and get something tailored from the off. Obviously I don't want to be buying Asda/Primark brand stuff.

I want something that'll work for formal occasions but can also be worn with jeans or whatever for more casual affairs if needs be.

Modern professionals *cough* estate agents who give it the biggun *cough* of FT, talk to me.

What are my options? Easier to decide that way really. I don't really know the sort of money I'm looking at having to spend. Happy to spend a few hundred if needs be I guess. How much do people normally spend?

Realistically, are you honestly going to wear it either often enough or to anything important enough to justify spending more than you would in debenhams?

Try Charles Tyrwhitt they have some great suits at a good price. If willing to spend more, check out the Boss shop. They have a usually great sale rack upstairs.

Stick with Primark, the judge wont notice the quality, its making the effort that counts.. oh and polish the flip flops

Don't wear jeans with a blazer. Terrible look. As is wearing a jumper over your shoulders with the arms loosely tied across the chest. You'll look like you've been dressed by your mrs who takes her inspiration from catalogues and crap itv daytime dramas. And talking of fashion why do all gok wans victims look like frumpy old women by the time he's finished with them.

Maybe splash out on a tailored blazer, and then just get an off the peg pair of trousers to go with it. Or go to Thailand.

Sounds a bit 'Sports Casual'

If you go for a next or m&s you're looking at £100-200

Charles Tyrwhitt, TM Lewin - 200-300

Boss 300-500

Tailored - 500+

Seriously check out CT I think it's the best for the money.

There is a shop on Granby Street that Specialises in outsize lothes. Don't know how cheap they are though. Big and Tall it's called.

I buy most of my suits from Next. Reasonably priced and they do look nice.

I wouldn't buy a suit jacket and then wear it with jeans, buy a blazer from Topman or H&M a bit more casual and you'll pick up a decent one for £40.

He's six foot and a bit underweight, Ken, not a future starter for the LA Lakers.

Didn't mean jeans, or white chinos, but if the jacket fit is the problem but off the peg trousers fit ok, get a tailored charcoal grey or black jacket and then a pair of trousers from Marks, jackets always last longer than the trousers in my experience, so then you can replace the trousers easy enough without having to buy a new suit.

Debenhams in Leicester is your best bet, or maybe House of Fraser.

TBH tho, get on the train to the Bullring, costs about £8 return, you don't even have to step into the open wilds of brum, train goes straight to the Bullring itself - the Debenhams there is SO much better than the one in Leicester, really good selection of suits and not bad prices at all (I got a £180 Jeff Banks suit from there a while back which honestly was much nicer than a £750 Paul Smith I very almost bought)

Edit: and at the time I was 6'3" and around 12.5 stone - so also a lanky bastard.

You'll regret it when you can't afford to go to any of the events you bought it for because you spent all your money on your suit.

Was Just about to recommend Next. I used to work there, and we did really nice ones. Depends what your budget is though, I suppose. There's some bargains in the sale if you can match the trousers and jacket
