svensson Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 Precisely. So many fans strike me as thinking good defending is all about crunching tackles and last ditch clearances but the art of defending is mastered by the Spanish. Not a physical side in the slightest - yet are the most solid team on the planet by a distance. They close down like no-one I've ever seen and win possession back by constantly forcing their opponents into mistakes. The way they play is far more solid than a 4-4-2 with two 6'4 beasts in defence and another two in centre midfield will ever be. Hmmmm the art of defending is by no means mastered by the Spanish. As a team and the way they press agreed but that is due to their midfield not their centre backs. Just look at Barcelona they played Mascherano at the back! Pique wouldn't last 5 mins in the championship, we need big strapping centre backs that throw themselves at everything and will tackle anything that moves, you forget yourself as last time I checked we are the Championship. You have only been watching football for a short while as the germans and Italians are the bench mark for producing world class centre backs, they perfected it, not the Spanish dear boy..

If by defensive masterclass you mean starting the world Cup final with a 4-6-0 formation then fair enough... Prefer to call it flooding the midfield myself. It worked though...

iamafox Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 Hull are expected to make one last bid for Schmeichel according to today's Merc.
surrifox Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 ha ha - what a totally amateurish and transparent bunch of fools: -publicise the deal -come in with a lot of bids around half the asking price -pretend to be about to sign some Scottish keeper playing in turkey -getting the keeper's dad on their side!

Guest Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 Bet you it will work though. Unless they stop fvcking about and put in a serious offer it won't.
LeicesterAreGoingUp Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 £3,000,000 + hobbs and i'd accept, get big wages off and means we dont have to search for a CB
svensson Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 £3,000,000 + hobbs and i'd accept, get big wages off and means we dont have to search for a CB Surely finding a centre back is far easier than a very good goalie?
Ric Flair Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 Surely finding a centre back is far easier than a very good goalie? Maybe so but we've already had Hobbs before and we know he's good enough at this level if he's allowed to do what he's good at... defend and give the ball to someone more able at passing. Get Steele from Barsnley and job done.
Bausor Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 2.5m plus hobbs and id deal, high earner of the wage bill, centre back sorted, and plenty of good enough goal keepers around with the fee will receive, reckon we could get a new keeper for 1m + which we can invest the rest in another position. DEAL
StrovolosTiger Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 If Hobbs is used in the deal most City fans will be very sorry to see him go and will feel he's been hard done to. The only factor in him going might be the condition of his knee after his re-constructive surgery. He is unbelievably hard working and team focussed and deserves his shot at the Premier League. I would expect if he is to be part of the deal, the offer will be around £2m with maybe some add ons depending on appearances and/or Premier League survival, however I also expect it to be the usual "undisclosed fee" so that both sides don't lose face.

Haven't you already offered £2 million and Hobbs though? I think £2.5 million and Hobbs will do it.

We should be careful, B'ham sold us Clements who turned out to be half fit and then totally unfit due to injury! Going even further back: Darren Eadie - his knee made his signing a waste of time...
StrovolosTiger Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 Haven't you already offered £2 million and Hobbs though? I think £2.5 million and Hobbs will do it. Yes, all the rumours were an increase £2m offer plus player (thought to be Stewart) went in early last week. However, Radio Humbrrside asked for confirmation from the club and they said no third bid had gone in. Its really hard figuring out what rumours have substance and what don't, probably due to the clubs recent history!

Erm, you are Hull, "There`s only one City", and that`s us!

LCFC FOX Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 I would accept 2million and Hobbs for Kasper without a doubt.
MPH Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 But havnt we already heard that Kasper doesn't want to go to Hull?
Fox92 Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 Surely finding a centre back is far easier than a very good goalie? £3million plus Hobbs (which you quoted). I'd accept that as well. A good centre back, then we visit Barnsley and get Steele (just as good as Kasper) for around, or maybe less than, £1million.

If he is, it'd be a right Steele at that price........

jimmeh Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 Simply has to be sold. Yes he's a top top keeper. But it's a position that won't mean that much of a difference come to end of the season. He made some world class saves, but how many? The majority of saves he makes, other championship keepers would most certainly save aswell. Think people over react slightly with Kasper because he's so passionate and every fan loves that kind of player. I would take 2 million and Hobbs personally.
yorkie1999 Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 No way should we take hobs. He'll have no motivation whatsoever.
