Babylon Posted 20 May 2013 Posted 20 May 2013 Presumably that's why Pearson came out of his meeting with the Board on Friday, looking, "decidedly miffed", as reported by a FT Forum Member seeing him. I guess he was p****d off, being told there was no money to spend on purchases this summer ?! Are you actually being serious?
Johnny Cash Posted 20 May 2013 Posted 20 May 2013 Andrew Neville should be shot anyway, he was the one with the happy trigger finger during the Sven days, the eejit.
Jace Posted 20 May 2013 Posted 20 May 2013 Are you actually being serious? Probably was told they could not longer afford to fulfill their promise of new trainers at the beginning of each season for management
cc_star Posted 20 May 2013 Posted 20 May 2013 I don't claim to be ITK or anything like that but I'm just posting something that I have heard, no doubt I will get a barrage of abuse but here it goes. Basically Andrew Neville has been summoned to Thailand this week with the clubs books and players contract details. The money has 'ran out', we will need to off load players should we want to sign anyone else and that's if we do sign anyone else. The only reason I cant see this being true is because of our recent ground purchase? No bad news in it, it's just stating the bleeding obvious... That's what happens when you appoint a conman as manager and the club signs loads of players on unsustainable contracts A key reason for the change of tact & appointing Pearson & him signing 20ish year olds, not Premier League benchwarmers... and why the Thais keep talking about "long term" every time they're spoken too. If only they'd have managed better in the interim, then the pot wouldn't be empty. This is what many people have been saying all the way through.
Guesty Posted 20 May 2013 Posted 20 May 2013 I was sort of expecting this - they can't keep putting money in forever (plus there's FFP). We've got a good young squad if we sell a few players like (Beckford and Danns) and buy a couple players plus a couple free transfers I think we'll be alright. Don't really blame Andrew Neville for any of this. He had a manager who was well-known for overspending, asking for players who'd command big wages and chairmen who were openly telling everyone they were going to splash the cash when they first got here green-lighting the deals. Then he has to try and get the cheapest deal possible.
Leicester Lass Posted 20 May 2013 Posted 20 May 2013 Are people really surprised that we're going to have to sell players before we can bring anyone else in? That's the price you have to pay for having a promotion or bust approach, and for having a Football Director who is happy to sanction contracts for average players for obscene amounts of money at this level.
Callabinho Posted 20 May 2013 Posted 20 May 2013 The money hasn't run out, as a result of clubs like us, west ham, and Cardiff spending stupid money the football league have decided to take action to prevent another "Portsmouth" from happening. We are currently operating over the the limitations put in place for next season, so we have to sell a few of the big earners before bringing any new players in.... This has been the case since FFP came in, no reason to panic.....
Happy Fox Posted 20 May 2013 Posted 20 May 2013 If we cannot shift those players it isn't the end of the world they are still decent average championship players that are useful as part of our squad.
indierich06 Posted 20 May 2013 Posted 20 May 2013 Wouldn't surprise me. They're probably sick of paying a load of duffers a kings ransom to do **** all. Bomb out Beckford, Danns, Konch, Gallagher and Wellens to anyone who is stupid enough to take them and raise funds by selling Kasper and Nugent. That should free up a few million.

And then lets enjoy league 2 for a few seasons.

kingfox Posted 20 May 2013 Posted 20 May 2013 There's me thinking that the bad news was Knockaert has ditched his red boots, and you'll have to change them again on Fifa.
Deucalion Posted 20 May 2013 Posted 20 May 2013 Bad news is probably over-egging the cake here. As others have said, it is entirely predictable, and nothing more than some other clubs in this division are going to have to do too.
Guest Col city fan Posted 20 May 2013 Posted 20 May 2013 Financially, not getting promotion in either of the past two seasons has been disastrous. I honestly don't think we'd had a better chance to go up for years and have failed twice. I say this in all sincerity, the money thrown at this aim is completely unsustainable and I wouldn't be surprised to see us in this division for many more years.
Bert Posted 20 May 2013 Posted 20 May 2013 Heading off to Thailand with a memory stick. Imagine if he forgets it
Xen Posted 20 May 2013 Posted 20 May 2013 If the money's ran out, why on earth would they be 'shipping him (Neville) across to Thailand with a memory stick', surely a video conference would be cheaper and quicker... I call BS.
Jace Posted 20 May 2013 Posted 20 May 2013 Maybe the reason Pearson looked so pissed off was because he was told they want to sack him but they can't afford to get rid!? Would explain why Top and Vichai had to get the train to the Forest match instead of a luxury limo
yorkie1999 Posted 20 May 2013 Posted 20 May 2013 So who would actually leak this sort of information, or has it been leaked on purpose to find out who the mole is?
Bluetintedspecs Posted 20 May 2013 Posted 20 May 2013 I just had to get the smelling salts out as this news was so shocking!

Leicester_Numan Posted 20 May 2013 Posted 20 May 2013 We are still massively over our FFP limit just on wages, I said it was coming. Our whole season hinges on getting rid of the likes of Beckford, Danns, Wellens, Gallagher etc. We can't afford them and they are seriously hindering our chances of bringing others in. If they had anything about them as players, they'd cancel their contracts if we can't sell them. If they keep hanging around like a bad smell, we'll know they're just here for the money
Guest Col city fan Posted 20 May 2013 Posted 20 May 2013 I just had to get the smelling salts out as this news was so shocking! I bumped into Mrs BTS the other day and she told me smelling salts is the only thing that will get you out of bed of a morning...

The Year Of The Fox Posted 20 May 2013 Posted 20 May 2013 We need to sell to buy... Oh what a shock!!! There was me thinking we could carry on overspending like no tomorrow, just ignore FFP and cross our fingers. Pearson almost said as much the other day. This. It's no surprise surely. Not when we have players kike beckford and Danns on our books still. Is it true that Beckford is on 30k (Svens signing) and Knockaert 5k? Very astute Sir Sven
