Bad news coming out of the club

I thought Susan Whelan was CEO (or was on my season ticket confirmation letter), if this is as serious as some are making out it would be her not AN on his way to see the owners.AN is incharge of transfers etc so I assume he is on his way to talk aoout NP plans , what the club can afford within the FFP rules I dont beleive they would spend 14 million on stadium and then find out they are short of money.!! What it does confirm is that this past season was more inportant than we all thought and that to miss out on promotion could mean we are destined for this league for a few years yet :(

Spending money doesn't equal success. Pearson's always been very shrewd in the market and will continue to bring in decent players.

If the owners had met with NP on Friday at the KP, why would they then not meet with Neville before or after? Makes absolutely no sense that so I call bullshit.

FFP if I am not mistaken is based around us not spending more money than we can generate. By making sure we own the stadium before FFP came into play meant we would not be punished for accumulating the debt the acquisition cost us. However what it also means that any income the stadium now generates will have a direct effect on our operating budget this season.

That's not to say we don't still have to offload a few big earners- we do. Just getting 1 big earner earning 20k a week off the books is close to 1m extra in the coffers for Big Nige to 'play' with this season.

In other words I don't think we are operating on a shoe string budget but a bootlace budget which can be a little bit longer and stronger :D

Which bit.. that the owners actually met with NP on Friday, or that Neville is in Thailand.

There's been no evidence of either so far...

We have no solid evidence AN has gone to Thailand.

But if he has, it could be because the financial people the owners trust are in Thailand.  FFP definitely is going to have an effect so maybe it is being reviewed by the Srisomethingsomethingsomething's lawyers?

Hopefully they can find a sneaky loophole!!

btw - We have a pretty strong squad anyway which will only get stronger.  Why do people think we need to spend much more to be competitive in this league?  We were top last season, we looked nailed on for automatic promotion for much of it and we turned over teams by 6 goals...twice !!

Stop worrying.

If nugent loves the club you offer him a revised contract of lower wages but with a hefty bonus to make up the loss in wages over the season upon promotion.

If any player loved tge club they played for they would do it. They already earn a obscene ammount compared to our players during our last premiership season. More scope then for them to work harder..... target driven bonus enviroment could work wonders

Who says any of the players love the club? They may love their job, but that's all it is a job. Why would they want to take a pay cut and why should they, the club isn't going bankrupt?

That's a valid point Webbo, however, an incentivised bonus structure that  rewards success imo would not be a bad thing! Certainly would feed hunger and perceived desire.

Stadium investment wouldn't have counted against is in FFP, nor will any investment in infrastructure.

Always a good idea to know at least the basics before making comments.
