Rocky Dennis Posted 27 June 2013 Posted 27 June 2013 Why would a player be training with another team, surely a deal to sell has to be agreed first, particular at this stage of pre-season? What would happen if he got an injury training for them? Surely there would be some announcement from LCFC if a player was going elsewhere? I call Boll Ox
Fox92 Posted 27 June 2013 Posted 27 June 2013 Surely there would be some announcement from LCFC if a player was going elsewhere? Don't count on it! (I do agee with all your post, though).
Ric Flair Posted 27 June 2013 Posted 27 June 2013 Are teams even back training yet? I know we had that fitness test but our lads don't officially start back until Monday? Seems a load of pony that does. If we do sell him then i'd want what we paid for him at least = £1 million
dannythefox Posted 27 June 2013 Posted 27 June 2013 They couldn't reach an agreement with Wellens so I would be surprised if they want Drinkwater because he would cost more IMO!

Drinkwater won't be on anything like the wages Party Richard is on. Doncaster might have a bit of dough to spend on players seen as assets but they won't be able to bring in a 33 year old on £15,000 a week as it doesn't make any sense financially. Only prats like us would do that.

LCFC FOX Posted 27 June 2013 Posted 27 June 2013 Maybe Pearson has someone waiting to come in to replace him but can only bring someone in a certain position in if he sells someone for that position first. Which is Danny as Wellens is hard to sell...
Dan Posted 27 June 2013 Posted 27 June 2013 Are teams even back training yet? I know we had that fitness test but our lads don't officially start back until Monday? Seems a load of pony that does. If we do sell him then i'd want what we paid for him at least = £1 million Swear we only paid half a million. He's far too good for Doncaster, too.
hackneyfox Posted 27 June 2013 Posted 27 June 2013 Last season showed that there wasn't that much difference between the teams in this division, the idea that one of our players is 'too good' for any other team in this division is pushing it.
Dan Posted 27 June 2013 Posted 27 June 2013 Maybe a poor choice of words then. "Can do better" would be fairer. Mind you I don't think signing for them would do him much bad. He'd be one of their best players I reckon. Jason Bourne's called bullshit anyway.
Dan Posted 27 June 2013 Posted 27 June 2013 In a manner of speaking... True. I'll save any 'bullshit' nickname for IndyKaila.
Cincinnati Fox Posted 27 June 2013 Posted 27 June 2013 1st half of last season he was one of our best players And does this mean wellens is staying, surely wellens is on more money than DD if its about reducing the wage bill
Happy Fox Posted 27 June 2013 Posted 27 June 2013 "As far as they're aware" Doesn't openly deny that he isn't/won't be training with them.
Raw Dykes Posted 27 June 2013 Posted 27 June 2013 1st half of last season he was one of our best players And does this mean wellens is staying, surely wellens is on more money than DD if its about reducing the wage bill I'm sure Wellens is on a bigger wage than Drinkwater, but getting rid might be too difficult. Who else would be stupid enough to pay Wellens anywhere near what we're paying him? We may be forced to keep hold of him until his contract runs out, hoping someone wants to borrow him and pay part of his wages.
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 27 June 2013 Posted 27 June 2013 It would be very short sighted to let DD go because we can't off load RW. I think Danny is a player we need to have around, form dipped but there can be many reasons for this. I'd rather have him on the bench than an ageing Wellens. We should just bite the bullet this season and hold on to him, we'd have to replace him when Wellens does eventually leave/move-on/contract ends.
Bert Posted 27 June 2013 Posted 27 June 2013 "As far as they're aware" Doesn't openly deny that he isn't/won't be training with them. What club is going to come our and admit they've got another teams player training with them??
Simo86 Posted 27 June 2013 Posted 27 June 2013 What club is going to come our and admit they've got another teams player training with them?? Are you being serious?
ealingfox Posted 27 June 2013 Posted 27 June 2013 What club is going to come our and admit they've got another teams player training with them?? Probably ones that don't want to be charged with misconduct by the FA. If it's unauthorised and undisclosed it is surely against the rules.
TrentFox Posted 27 June 2013 Posted 27 June 2013 Are teams even back training yet? I know we had that fitness test but our lads don't officially start back until Monday? Seems a load of pony that does. If we do sell him then i'd want what we paid for him at least = £1 million Could that be the answer if there is any truth in this - that maybe his contacts allow him to steal a march on everyone else by doing some fitness work at Donny - if they're back - ahead of trying to stake his claim to be in first team here ... impress the boss and all that ???????
