DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 Pearson staying, and this geezer coming in. Things are going from bad to worse. What a total ---- up!
MPH Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 What's with all the responses to this? Amazed. Knowone even knows the bloke. Just because Sheffield Wednesday don't like him from a spell in 1999! Jesus. To have a chairman who was the premier league chairman. On the FA board. This guy is clearly clueless because he fell into a swimming pool. He's a sir for being completely clueless! He will bring huge much needed experience and football knowledge to the board. I for one am happy with this. Dave Richards, is that you? ( joined late last night! ).
ealingfox Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 Ah well, even if he hasn't turned it down, the bloke is 70 so he won't be game for fighting for anything too controversial and he'll probably retire in the near future.
Mack Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 Richard's is bad news. I think we are starting to see the fall out of not getting promoted. Depressing.
Iwan is a Welshman Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 This guy's record isn't great. I don't think it signifies the end of the Thais. I just think they want an expert on FFP with strong contacts in the game.
jamesmilner Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 how can the thais want in ? how many teams in the prem make a profit ? come on get real , the thais have finally woke up and smelt the coffee . there is no profit in football and this rollercoaster theyve been on has just finally made them see it . one of the strangest moves in football if they want a man like him to be a success for them ?
RowlattsFox Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 Would Pearson have been at sheff wed under Richards? Don't know enough about the man to form a valid opinion but going by this thread it appears worrying. However is spell at sheff wed was a long time ago, maybe he is changed in old age, maybe?

Yes, became Chairman of SWFC in 1990, with Pearson at the club till 1994. Any FoxesTalk thread could leave you very worried though, to be honest.
Fox92 Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 I know a lot of Wednesday fans, and they don't like him. I heard this yesterday and don't get it one bit. Are the Thais not attending anymore or what? Why would you pay someone to do your job, I can't see why in this situation. I can't see Pearson liking any of this. Although I think he might know Richards from his time at Wednesday.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 Contradictions ahoy, Charles Sale says this isn't happening.
FoxesFan123 Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 Looks like this now isn't happening, BUT, if there was one person who knows about Financial Fair Play, how to ensure we meet the regulations, any ways around the rules, then Dave Richards would probably be it, or know all the right contacts who would. Can see why the Thais were going for him...
Guest ttfn Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 Wow Holloway got us relegated but got blackpool promoted and palace promoted. And another play off final with Blackpool. Sometimes these thigs happen. Really think the Premier leage would appoint him if he's such a drongo? I mean, yes. Definitely. I think Sheffield Wednesday is the tip of the iceberg for this clown.

Can see why the Thais were going for him... Dave Richards won't have the first bloody idea how to get around FFP. He's a football-based executive at the Premier League. He's not a finance bod. The people who know how to get around these things are accountants and lawyers.
Bettsj2 Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 So he's not the new Chairman? What's gonna get the tears flowing now? I suppose we'll have to go back to, 'The Thai's aint got no sperience. Werra joke'
Callabinho Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 The Thais aren't ****ing off, they just want more experienced 'football people' around them, with the Financial fair play rules kicking in next season they obviously feel Nigel alone won't be enough to make sure the club are following the strict guidelines. The only problem I can see with having a DOF is that Nigel won't be happy having to hear an extra opinion on players and general footballing matters that aren't from his staff. Unfortunately FFP means certain clubs will have to take drastic action to ensure they are compliant with the new rules and regulations, and judging by the way this club is currently haemorrhaging money I'd think it be wise to add experience to the ustairs staff.
Webbo Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 Ridiculous over reactions as per usual. An experienced football man with a list of contacts as long as your arm. Definitely means conference football next year.
Babylon Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 This place is funny, usual ridiculous overreaction seemingly based on his time at Wednesday a long long time ago. What are the charges against him there? Over spending?... Newsflash, we are already overspending. Anyone brought in will be tasked with reducing our costs and not increasing them, so you can stop worrying about that. Choosing the wrong manager? Well there are very few chairman out there who haven't chosen some duffers in their time. Oh, and we already have a manager so really there is no need to worry there at the moment either. If there was a concern, it could be that these people are being brought in because the owners know what's coming and want experienced people in charge of it (as well as people in the line of fire, other than themselves). If we can't get rid of the high earners we want, then we are going to have to sell some of our better players and that won't be popular. If that needs to happen, then it needs to happen no matter who is Chairman.
Ric Flair Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 Hahahahahahahaaa AFC Wimbledon is looking all the more appealing for me next season.
AnotherShitSeason Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 Richard's is bad news. I think we are starting to see the fall out of not getting promoted. Depressing. Yup.

To be fair Babs, if you're desperate to cut costs and completely change the culture of the club why would you appoint a man whose got a reputation for spending too much money? Wednesday were crippled under his helm towards the end and his own businesses have gone in to insolvency. It's slightly perculiar and hardly gives much confidence. His was an absolute baffoon as PL chairman as well, although him falling in the water fountainw as magic! I hope he get's coonted and goes on the pitch at half time when we're on the verge of relegation next season. Haha
flowwolf Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 Because they don't know anything about football I suppose True we are still stuck with Pearson.
