Bert Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 Not really, it's more than enough money to find a suitable replacement and means we won't be losing him on a free next year. If we can't get him to sign a new contract for a reasonable wage then this is the window to sell him if we want to get a decent fee. The key thing is time though, which is running out.
KFS Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 Damn I'm out of credit, just tried to send the following text to the BBC: "More rumours regarding Leicester's David Nugent. Pearson might be set to use the cash to bring in relatively unknown French u21 Markan Du Rhone." If anyone gets it off I'll get them off in return.Done it
Happy Fox Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 Do we still have any money left from Marshall's transfer to Blackburn or has that all been used for the Dean Hammond deal?
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 Can we keep this thread for developments throughout the day rather than discussing whether we should buy or sell certain players? There is already plenty for that across the board.
whitlock Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 I haven't rated Nuge in a while, but I would be reluctant to sell him... Especially to Forest. But £2.5M for an out of form striker is cracking business, to be fair.
Mark_w Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 The key thing is time though, which is running out. Fair point. But if Nugent does have a £2.5M release clause, you'd hope that Nigel would already have an eye on one or two replacements just in case.
Guest Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 Fair point. But if Nugent does have a £2.5M release clause, you'd hope that Nigel would already have an eye on one or two replacements just in case. The clause is there in case a "big" club makes an offer. Can't see Nuge prefering Forest to us. Just because there is a clause it doesn't mean he has to leave. If he gets an offer from a prem club and it's £2.5m he has the right to consider it. Don't see the problem or the confusion here.

1964FOX Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 NP doesn't want Nuge to go. Loves him. Hope you're right and he doesn't, I would be worried now if he did knowing Nigel wants to keep him as I trust what you say.
davieG Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 I'd imagine that Nuge is a massive positive/optimistic influence in the dressing that is hard to come by.
cc_star Posted 2 September 2013 Author Posted 2 September 2013 Nugent. Our best goal scorer since Dickov? Works incredibly hard for the team when he's not scoring People talking about him leaving are crazy, especially replacing with a League 2 Player. People on here are crazy. Sell Futacs on, loan Waghorn out till Christmas - we'll probably need the numbers after then. But FFS keep hold of our best player. Konch & Gally are key departures, if we can't lose them off the wage bill then someone like Nugent or Schmeichel would have to go.
cc_star Posted 2 September 2013 Author Posted 2 September 2013 Do we still have any money left from Marshall's transfer to Blackburn or has that all been used for the Dean Hammond deal? Depends on how far above FFP allowed losses we were

He's up there, but both Morgan and Schmeichel are far more vital to the team than Nugent.
Craig Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 Selling our best striker to our local rivals who we'll probably be battling with for a promotion/play-off spot? No thanks.
Fox92 Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 A massive no to selling Nugent, he's just as essential as Morgan and Kasper. Works very hard for the team when not on the ball as well. Fryatt in? Is that just rumour because of Nigel's 'relationship' with Fryatt? Still a good finisher at this level, got 15 for Hull the other season, but not Fryatt over Nugent for me.
ScouseFox Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 Where has all this Nugent shite come from? Anywhere at all?
Corky Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 NP doesn't want Nuge to go. Loves him. I thought Pearson couldn't handle big names?
Simmo86 Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 Where has all this Nugent shite come from? Anywhere at all? The Sun
The Horse's Mouth Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 If we sold Nugent, who the **** would we replace him with?
Wherethefoxhat? Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 James Vaughan Would'nt hesitate.....injury free now for at least 6 months ......5 goals already this season . Very good player indeed !

Guest Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 He's signed for Huddersfield this window, so we can't buy him. And why would they want to sell him?
mkaiser1 Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 Do we still have any money left from Marshall's transfer to Blackburn or has that all been used for the Dean Hammond deal? He was free.
kingfox Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 Just been on Narborough Road, and you never guess who I bumped into...Nicky Maynard. I said why ain't you shopping in Morrisons? He said he prefers Iceland.
