Vardinhio Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 good, if i wanted to take a young kid along it would be good to know there was an area that would be relatively free of swearing drunks.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 These drunks don't care about the kids, they just want a cheap ticket to spout a bunch of crap, singing for the whole 90 mins disrupting everyone's good time.
dmayne7 Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 So many 1 on 1 duels going on today! Personally, I'm hoping that BTS and Col get into a scrap but that's as likely as LCFC actually doing something people are happy about and agree on!
Captain... Posted 6 November 2013 Posted 6 November 2013 What world are you living in? Standing isn't allowed in the Kop unless you're at the very top and not in the East Stand unless you're in the top half of the left hand side. Talk about twisting things to suit an argument. My point was people already stand in the Kop, there is already a standing section, why would you try and create another standing section in a stand that is not meant for you, instead of joining the people in established standing areas where it is tolerated, you can buy a ticket for anywhere in the kop and go and stand at the back, not sure if this is true of standing at the back in L/K as I've never tried The point remains that 80% of the stadium is for the average fan, why try and set up a singing section in one of the areas not meant for you?
anotherharboroughfox Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 All I want to do is go to the football and sing for 90 minutes. Being next to the away fans doesn't bother me at all, but ticket prices do. To solve: make every seat a flat rate/similar rate. People will obviously want cheaper tickets especially when it's £10 difference.
Kitchandro Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 My point was people already stand in the Kop, there is already a standing section, why would you try and create another standing section in a stand that is not meant for you, instead of joining the people in established standing areas where it is tolerated, you can buy a ticket for anywhere in the kop and go and stand at the back, not sure if this is true of standing at the back in L/K as I've never tried The point remains that 80% of the stadium is for the average fan, why try and set up a singing section in one of the areas not meant for you? 80% of the stadium is for families. If you hate an atmosphere you've got plenty of choice. If that's what the average fan is then we've already come way too far and it needs rectifying. Football disintegrating into a sterile experience is not something I'm ok with and should not be encouraged. The Kop is NOT a vocal section. 95% of it is people sitting down making no noise. L & K is fine but it could be better. One thing I've noticed is that that section tends to perk up when it's got competition from away fans or fellow City fans in other areas of the ground. That is one of the reasons why N block is a good idea, not to mention it's getting the family stand involved in a positive way. I don't know about any complaints but I've certainly seen people try to get involved and enjoying themselves. So as far as I'm concerned the score stands at singing adults 1, family atmosphere 0. Why on earth would they want to change something that was positive in the eyes of most fans? At the end of the day I don't want to see any kind of restrictions put in place in an attempt to stop the spread of atmosphere, or to keep it their version of what an atmosphere is. Whether that's N, P1, P3 or whatever, the message is very clear: They're making a stand against....standing I suppose. I have no problem standing in K, but it is more expensive and some people do not want to be constantly fleeced. I admire that the boys in N have tried to make it more intimidating for opposition supporters, and to spread the atmosphere around the ground. The Kop is an absolute disgrace in that respect, so I was happy that we had one end behind the goal that was at least improving. The bottom line is, restrictions like this are just plain wrong in principle and against the beliefs of a lot of fans. If they didn't let children in L & K you'd find it a disgrace so this is no different.

Vlad the Fox Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 Surely this will only make n1 better. If anyone not with a kid wants to remain in the Family stand the will have to move to n1 hopefully making it more vocal.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 I hope n1 will push the boundaries to an extent on Saturday after the clubs statement on the family stand. See what you can get away with. It could well be a turning point in the club or as Bilo says it could be a games grace where they then deal with n1 after the forest game. Let's find out.
ozleicester Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 Couldnt someone develop a Football singing app*, then all of the people on their iphones etc, could just turn that on. Job done. Damn now ive said that, its probably a good idea, an app with the words, tunes and examples...easy to get everyone singing, or at least playing their smartphone loud!! *app idea is now copyright, so pay up you bastards!
Babylon Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 Whether that's N, P1, P3 or whatever, the message is very clear: They're making a stand against....standing I suppose. Making a stand again standing... in the family stand. Oh the horrors, how could they possibly try and keep the FAMILY stand for FAMILIES.
Babylon Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 Not for low demand FA Cup games like Burton. Well I'm sure if you had told the club you would cover the thousands and thousand of pounds of extra staffing costs needed to keep the two ends open they would have been more than willing. As it is, I'm guessing you don't wish to cover those costs?
Babylon Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 I thought you were above comments like that Babs. Very disappointing. It's not that simple is it. No it really is that simple, there are thousands and thousands of other seats that are open to anyone!!!! Moaning you can't sit in an area designated for families only, to me is no different to moaning about not being able to sit in seats designated to disabled people, or the directors, or anywhere else specifically designated to others. Why are you siding with the club on this? Why are being really defensive and refusing to accept criticism of something that is blatantly wrong, unnecessary and just all round negative? Because you are making a meal out of absolutely nothing in my opinion. The stand is called the FAMILY stand, and it always has been. Ergo, they want to make it a family friendly environment, and get as many kids/parents in their as they can. You can sit anywhere else in the ground, you can even at this stage sit in N block in the family stand as they aren't altering that area. I fail to see how it's wrong in any way shape or form. Tell me why it's wrong, and don't claim they are attacking atmosphere because that's utter rubbish. They are attacking people taking up seats designated for families. And attacking people exploiting cheaper tickets again designated for families. I worked on the programme for a while about 16 years ago. If you are claiming that has anything to do with my opinion you are way off the mark.
Monk Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 Jesus christ we have a lot of moaners on this board! The club designates an area of the ground as a family stand, and has every right to try to make it a family environment. In football terms that means being around other families, kids and in an environment with less bad language and trouble. If the ground was full every game and the family stand was the only area with seats, then you'd have a point, but it doesn't, so you don't. If I go on the train and sit in the quiet coach on a kid's ticket playing music and I get chucked out by the ticket inspector - is that my fault or the train operator's fault? Moaners - there's about 75% of the rest of the ground you could sit in, what's the problem?
LCFC FOX Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 Some people are going on as if we are scum acting like complete twats in the family stand. We are just spreading the atmosphere and all the kids love it and join in! We are standing out of the way in the back corner just enjoying the game and spreading the atmosphere like everyone else. Some people are just idiots if you think we should be kicked out for helping the atmosphere and making it more fun
Dan Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 The only visible issues of trouble I can recall was with Leeds in 2005 and the Sheffield Wednesday flare/ lighter (delete as applicable) throwing last season. Oh, forgot the Wigan fans running to within three blocks of L1 with stewards, police and netting in the way flicking the V's and gesturing. So that's three incidents in eight years, one of them being about 15 away fans getting pissy after going 2 down, one of them being the away fans letting off a smoke bomb and throwing it (although ours did throw it back), and Leeds which I can't comment on at all. In other words, evidence that it's just ridiculous generalisations rather than what's actually happening/happened. Yep. It's all based of stereotypes and inventions of the imagination. He pictures people who want to have an atmosphere as fat, drunken chavs who want to fight with everyone. Whilst some are, you can't tar everyone with the same brush. A lot of family men are miserable, thuggish twats as well. Swear he's put me on ignore, hasn't replied to anything I've put in god knows how long, couldn't imagine why. It's the double standards from the club that is the laughable thing, the put some stupid cliché crap like "Get behind the foxes" and "the fans makes a difference" on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram whilst trying to dismantle any potential atmosphere. I bet there is some retard on the club's payroll with the job title "Fan liaison officer" or something equally ridiculous. They put all this 'get behind the Foxes' stuff to try and counter any valid argument that they're trying to dilute the atmosphere. Anyone who's been going for a few years who has not understood what they're trying to do to our vocal support hasn't got a clue I'm afraid. Are people trying to claim that they're doing this for any reason other than trying to quash N block? Is anyone going to claim that fans going in there without a kid is a new phenomenon? Is it bollocks. It's conveniently happened as a singing section is developing, before the biggest home game of the season. It's all far too regular for it to be a co-incidence. Also, am I the only one who got into football at the age LCFC now target because Filbert Street was so loud and exciting? I'd never have seen the attraction of football if I had to grow up with the conditions City encourage. I'm pretty much the only person I know from my school who still actively supports City, and most of them stopped following the club after Filbert Street went down. I've said this many a time. I used to love the whole swearing/rowdiness of it even if I didn't take part at that age. If my parents thought it was so unacceptable then why did they take me? The people siding with the club on this are failing to take into account that the club have completely dug themselves into this one and their digging themselves 'out' by conveniently targetting a singing section. I'll believe that they'll leave N block alone when it happens, I find it incredibly bizarre that they've taken N block out of the article but I think they're just doing that to shut people up and inevitably when only the small numbers in N block go through the same ridiculous procedure it won't be so publicised. I'd understand a lot of this but it's their own fault for being so exclusive towards families - stop giving them the absolute priority all the bastard time.

Dan Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 Come on Dan, you sat in the Carling stand. I know - and guess what? Swearing galore and plenty of ref abuse.
svensson Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 I know - and guess what? Swearing galore and plenty of ref abuse. But zero threat of violence, and before anyone says there have only be a few incidents at the KP, the potential is there. I am all for as much atmosphere as possible around the ground. As stated before, if LCFC need to police both ends of the away following it gives them an extra headache and additional costs. Its not so much the families getting annoyed but the extra emphasis on security that they don't want. Why is this so difficult for the "I do what I want" brigade to understand???

Zero threat of violence? The majority of violence happens outside of grounds. To me Leicester City just seem completely hell-bent on sterilising any potential atmosphere that may occur. Plenty of other clubs manage it without trouble. I'd love to know what was so shocking about that.
MrBojangly Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 Please don't post on foxestalk again. Using sarcasm to make a point is probably a bit out of your comfort zone, but my opinion is valid. I'll try and keep it simpler to understand for you - I would like football to be as inclusive of families as possible (including bringing down the cost). So I think this is a good thing
Babylon Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 Are people trying to claim that they're doing this for any reason other than trying to quash N block? Do you have evidence to the contrary?
